That's my sole reason for objecting to monarchy. Everything else is a distraction and detracts from the argument. If you believe that the head of state shouldn't have that job simply through the hereditary principle then you don't believe in a monarchy. We can have the debate over what replaces it once we agree that it's a stupid decision to appoint someone based entirely on who their parents were (or in Harry's case who they weren't). How much money they bring in/cost, what they're like as individuals is entirely irrelevant to the argument.

I've been using MidJourney a bit recently for AI images and it's quite impressive. Can get some pretty convincing photography and artwork. Don't get a whole lot of control over the image so general terms and themes work well but the moment you try and get really specific then it's a bit limited but I expect that'll improve pretty quickly. Looks like it could destroy the stock image industry almost overnight. Have to say I find the whole AI debate fascinating. I'd assumed that your creative industries would be fairly safe from AI but looks like they're more under threat than anywhere else.

I haven't really checked - that's just what he said. I guess every fan thinks their club could be more active and spend more money. Bloke I spoke with goes to a lot of their games so I tend to trust his judgement. Shame as I thought Viera was a decent shout. I doubt we'd go for him anyway. From what I can see Ankerson appears to be a a fan of more direct football and I expect an appointment that matches that philosophy.

Spoke to a Palace fan at work about Viera and he wasn’t very complimentary about him. Reckoned he didn’t play players in their best positions (particularly forwards) and their success last season was mainly due to Conor Gallagher. He did think Viera had a case that he should have been backed more in the transfer market but overall didn’t think he’d be any good for us.

BBC news spending a whole fucking hour on Wrexham as though getting promoted is some kind of miracle

There's no need for that law cos when they had their referendum it was a unanimous vote in favour of becoming Russian. What's the point of the law if there's no one in the occupied territories who doesn't want to be Russian?

I think if we can score an early goal, and then follow it up by scoring a couple more times, and then manage to keep a clean sheet then we'll probably win this.

We're down. No manager is going to turn this lot around and if there was a manager that could and was that good, then he wouldn't take the job because he'd already be in a better one. Club should be scouting and sounding out managers for the summer and the championship.

I'm a bit more optimistic. It's a shame FOX didn't get dragged through a court case but we've already had Murdoch, Hannity and Carlson admit they were talking bollocks about the election. The court case wouldn't have added very much more to that. They've been humiliated and everyone knows it. I'd imagine they'll be more careful in the future about what they say which is only a good thing. The other cases will most likely be settled out of court but these are expensive settlements, even for a company like FOX.

That's cos he's our secret weapon - much like the Spanish Inquisition no one expects Bree.

If Moi plays then surely the fans would be the 11th man?

I am getting pissed off with a few things - BBC News channel seems to have done nothing except cover his visit for the last couple of days. Does it really warrant that much coverage? Secondly Biden keeping on about how Irish he is. FFS you have to go back to his great great grandfather! He's not fucking Irish, and if he was then he wouldn't be President. I'm still missing Outside Source on BBC News channel - Roz Atkins would never have talked about Biden for a whole hour when nothing of any significance actually happened. Having said that, it's not all bad - Yalda Hakim is pretty easy on the eye.

I'm not sure - probably worth asking Alex Jones about that.

Only saw a bit of the Musk interview but the bit I did see was him doing the whole freedom of speech thing. That's fair enough but interviewer should have pushed him on the misinformation a bit more - misinformation isn't a matter of opinion but about being factually incorrect. This post-truth world does my nut in.

The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.

Sorry LD but I'm really struggling with what your point is. If it's that fucking lefties would worship Thatcher if she advocated remaining in the EU then I think you're wrong. They'd probably agree with her on that issue though (although actually the fucking lefties have loads of Brexiteers in their ranks so maybe not even then). Or is it that if you believe in remain then you have to agree with everything everyone else says if they also believe in remain? I think the problem is that you've looked at life through the prism of leave and Brexit for so long that you think everyone else does as well. -
If we can't get Potter or Poch back then I'd like to see Tommy Widdrington get the job.

Bastards are stopping Outside Source on BBC News channel and don’t seem to be replacing it with anything except the usual rolling news service. That and Newsnight are the only things I watch on BBC now (and Newsnight can’t hold onto any decent presenters) .

I’d like to see the anti gun movement set up a body as powerful and well funded as the NRA. I guess the problem is that gun owners see it as one of the primary single voter issues whereas the anti gun movement don’t. Would be nice to see that change. if they can’t get their heads round changing things then it might be refreshing to see a politician stand up after another school massacre and be honest and tell their electorate that this is the price you pay for gun ownership. You want guns? Don’t fucking cry when you get mass shootings.

That was probably Peter Powell or Bruno Brooks. They were both cunts. I still miss “Our Tune” on the Simon Bates mid morning show - was absolute quality listening to tales of utter abject misery that just got worse and worse. I loved it.

Completely agree Whelk - it feels like commentators, pundits and fans are trying to add a level of sophistication which simply isn't necessary in football. Some commentators seem to make up the pronunciation of player names as they go along. Caleta Car is a prime example - I've heard it pronounced about six different ways. Thankfully he doesn't play anymore so that's a relief. On a related note - countries that used to be part of the British Empire rejecting the name we've given them and going for something else. Show a bit of fucking gratitude! We didn't slave away (pardon the pun) coming up with a name for you that would indicate your subordination to us just so you could change it at the earliest chance you got. Yes, Colonial Nigeria, Colonial Fiji, British East Africa amongst others, I'm talking about you. Bastards. Anyway, where are you on the whole Gary Lineacre thing?

Haven't seen anywhere enough of him to form much of an opinion either way. His lack of stamina is a problem and he was consistently subbed around the 60 min mark in inferior leagues which doesn't bode well and means that consistent pressing isn't going to work. I think he could be a decent option in games where we're in control and need to break down defences and his height should give us loads of options. I'd be looking to use him as an impact sub when we're chasing a game and against a team content to sit back. Definitely not writing him off but we'll need to play a different type of game if he ever becomes a consistent starter.

Ok, so as far as I can recall the bbc covered lockdowns quite a bit and talked about the pros and cons. I think most people were aware of them and pretty sure we even had a thread on here talking about them. Not sure what else you wanted the BBC to do? Or is it more the that they didn’t overtly criticise them? Surely it’s biased rather than proper journalism that you want?
-
Genuine question but did you get your "proper" journalism over lockdown from anywhere within the MSM? BBC seems to be a target for you because of it's funding model and it's fair enough to question that but as far as I recall there wasn't a whole lot of variation in reporting during the pandemic so it wouldn't seem to be particularly relevant to single the BBC out in that context.
