  1. Yes, he's a fully paid up republican and does owe taxes. He'd also benefit under Obama's tax plans. His dream of buying the business he works for is as fanciful as any of us buying saints.
  2. Done.
  3. The Socialist States of America have limited interweb access to all comrades.
  4. It's possible. I think it's probably been blown out of proportion a bit but in essence it seems to stem from the fact that the merger of the two schools is perceived to be ill thought out and not working. Protesting about a fall in education standards is a pretty good thing isn't it? Naturally not having a riot but bringing the issue to the fore anyway. I'm guessing you live in France? A nation never known to riot, strike, burn British sheep or anything like that? I don't think Britain, and Southampton in particular, is really any different to many other countries. I do think we've got a higher percentage of ex-pats who are probably more prone to moaning about the old country though.
  5. I'm sorry, what's your point? That riots in a school are caused by a 'degenerate hedonistic money obsessed society'?
  6. No, it's one of those damn foreign films with subtitles. Madness! These foreigners seem to have a different word for almost everything and it's so infuriating. Sometimes I wonder why they bother with other languages - it's not as if they're going to catch on or anything. Still, if you can get past that then it's a good film.
  7. Well I haven't been to the cinema for a while but the last film I saw was 'The Orphanage' which was exceptional.
  8. Yeah from what i can remember the best you can hope for is to give them a months notice and hope the place isn't too badly trashed.
  9. Gomez's cover of 'Wichita Lineman'
  10. I've no problem with the govt having the details that I owe a phone (as long as they can keep those details safe!). I'm not so sure I want them having access to my call records and emails as the article suggested though. To be fair it's in the Times so it's probably Murdoch propaganda but all the same it's a worry. For the record though...Gordon, if you're reading this then please execute the royal family, yours truly Rev. PS, Also Jamie Oliver - no special reason except he's a tad irritating.
  11. To be fair they only voted him in once, although that's bad enough.
  12. Put me down for 0 - 7.
  13. I've gone beyond pessimism, I'm starting to enjoy the comedy value in supporting saints.
  14. Why would you want to? I've never really understood this. I guess you could roll it in glitter to make it pretty...does that help?
  15. To be fair if you apply that criteria then you'd end up hating pretty much every team in the league.
  16. jesus ****ing H christ!
  17. Obama has already criticised Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr so that one doesn't really hold much water. Bill Ayers was a terrorist I guess but he's also been Chicago's citizen of the year. In any case Ayers and Obama served on a couple of charity boards together - big deal. Ayers hosted some fund raising events for Obama..again big deal. None of this matters because as you pointed out with 'Joe the Plumber' none of them are running for president. I think it's good that there is clear policy difference beween the two though. Obama states quite clearly that 95% of the population will benefit from his policies while McCain favours policies that reward the health insurance companies and the rich. It's a legitimate choice rather than a choice between two politicians that essentially say the same thing. BTW if you really want to have a look at scandal then look at how the republicans stole the election between Bush and Gore. They actually did that. Ironically if they hadn't then America might not be in the mess it's in now and McCain might have stood a better chance of getting elected.
  18. This is true, he works for a plumbing company but isn't a plumber. The union that represents plumbers in the US is supporting Obama.
  19. McCain also has an annoying tendency to hold his arms out like a scarecrow. It's as if he's got a coathanger in his jacket. I notice he also says 'my friend' a lot. I thought he lost the debate and especially that 'Joe the plumber' argument he kept coming back to. I couldn't understand why he continued to return to it - it's fine to make a point but to keep repeating it isn't very clever. I enjoyed the debates though - it's a shame we don't have them over here.
  20. Bluestar buses only being single decker and then having a load of seats facing the wrong way. I don't mind public transport and as I can't park where I work it works out about the same money as driving, plus I do my bit for the environment. I do think that everyone should get a seat though. The backwards seats are so sodding irritating. You've got that awkward 'lift moment' where everyone tries to avoid eye contact but this lasts for 45 minutes!
  21. **** off. obviously in an ironic and gentlemanly way of course.
  22. Ah no problem, in fact it's mostly my fault. I should actually read the Daily Star and watch GMTV. Trouble is I don't. It's the whole facile debate (take newsnight tonight),the inflated hyperbole and the reporting of 'non-news'. It's more a critique of the 24 hour news culture which shouts a lot but says very little.
