  1. You are correct. Ricky also holds the world record for standing ramrod straight and shouting loudly at players. This guy has actually never sat down in his life and is physically sick when he sees a chair, sofa or any other kind of luxury furniture. I'm lucky enough to know Ricky personally and can say without reservation that his ambition is second to none. His plan is to make us global champions of the world within 2 weeks and 5 days, if he fails he's told me that he will tear the skin from his body and burn it. I think we've got an exciting 2 weeks and 5 days ahead.
  2. Pard's knows this division like the back of his hand and can do a job up front. This guy scored in an FA Cup final and is better than what we have. He swims the english channel twice before coming to work so I know for a fact he keeps himself fit. We could do worse. Ricky Lambert would make an excellent manager. He regularly beats his team mates at chess which show his cerebral side and Alex Ferguson has his number on speed dial in case he needs advice. Ricky literally bleeds red and white and would jump several counties to become our manager. We could do worse.
  3. Jeez it's a big one and keeps biting!
  4. Ha ha, I went fishing and look what I caught! I thank you!
  5. I don't care about portsmouth - I didn't when we were in the prem and I don't now. They seemed to have a chip on their shoulder due to living in our shadow for so long and sadly it seems as if we're starting to develop one too. Portsmouth? What is there really to care about? Apart from geographically close (which is a poor excuse for dislike) there's nothing.
  6. No apology needed - it's interesting reading rumours even if they don't come off. I'd rather read them than absolutely nothing about transfers and that's what t'interweb is for isn't it?
  7. Strachan won't be DoF and wouldn't want it. He's already on the record as saying that the thing he enjoys the most is working with players and not the admin side of a managers job so why would he want a job that was almost entirely admin? I don't think it's fair on Pardew either. Whoever gets that role (and I'm not sure it's needed) should be mostly Pardew's choice, experienced, have good contacts and there to assist when needed. I'd have taken back WGS as manager but not in this role.
  8. I can't believe some people. OK Lambert did a good job yesterday managing a great Colchester performance against Norwich but do we really need a new manager again? Give Pardew a chance FFS!
  9. I've not had the benefit of video replays but any chance he had looked tame to me. Actually i don't blame him for that but i do blame him for poncing around and looking like he couldn't give one. As for chasing down channels, i didn't see enough of it it but isn't that what a centre forward is supposed to do?
  10. Nah, he showed nothing to me. I'll agree he had little service though but was rubbish when he did get the ball. As for running around? Must have missed that but surely we can get someone better to run around and achieve the square route of f**k all?
  11. Strange how we can see a game totally different. I thought he was sh!te.
  12. I thought lallana did OK but none of the forwards read his passes. For this div, in an unfamiliar role he was alright. Saganowski though? He played like he has a contract sewn up at another club - I hope he does because on that performance I'd never play him again. Pay up his contract and get rid - I can take players who have motivation but not skill. Saga has limited ability and by today's showing zero inclination to put in a shift.
  13. This year's Darren Moore? We need a big lump of a centre half but I haven't seen much of him to really make a judgement. By all accounts he sounds like he could fit the bill though.
  14. I only smoke when stood in the stand at SMS queueing to get out in the hope some beady eyed steward will haul me out and I can jump the queue. So far no chance. Perhaps they were doing that at Alton Towers though?
  15. RIP Bobby. I've just been trawling through youtube and the thing that comes across isn't what a great manager he was (though obviously he was) but what a great man he was. Genuinely likeable, humble, interesting, funny and many other things. He's like the nations favourite Grandad. He was a top bloke and proof that nice people get what they deserve - respect and affection.
  16. There aren't many people, if any, with a bad word to say about Bobby Robson. Always came across as a good bloke, good manager and good player and also genuinely seemed happy, priviledged and happy with the life he'd led. Bobby has dignity and earnt the respect he's got. It'll be a sad day when he dies but at least he knows how much he's appreciated. Fair play Bobby - there aren't many people in football who deserve the accolade of being a decent man but he definitely does.
  17. Having been close ourselves (though not that close) I can't help but feel sorry for Livi fans. I don't know too many details but it can't be good to support them right now. Hopefully the poor sods will get a mega rich backer.
  18. I got the impression Murty would sign like a shot. At his age he's not going to get many championship clubs after him and they'd probably all be oop norf so we make sense for him. The fact he hasn't signed and we haven't announced offering him a contract (whereas we did Stern John) suggests: 1) AP just doesn't think he's up to it (in which case surely he'd be gone by now?) 2) AP thinks he can get a better right back (Isn't Danny Mills on a free?). 3) They're just haggling over a contract. My guess is probably it's either 2 or 3. If it's 3 then I think Murty will sign for us because i can't see him getting a club as convenient and attractive as us for him. As the season gets closer that will start to make him think. Incidentally that goes for all free agents at the moment - they can play teams off against each other for a while but sooner or later they'll have to commit or run the risk of being in the wilderness. Any decent free agent will be snapped up by this time next week and maybe that's what Pardew is working on.
  19. I'd like to keep any of Saga, Rasiak or John if they can prove they're motivated. If not they're pretty useless to us and I'd rather they leave. John would be better than the other two but he wasn't exactly brilliant at Bristol City was he? If he left it wouldn't be the end of the world. Rasiak is in a difficult situation. I simply can't see anyone in the championship matching his wages and all the noises suggest he isn't really interested in a paycut. If money is what motivates him he'll probably be better seeing out his contract here however I'd rather we pay it up and get rid if his heart isn't in it. Saga? The best way to get a committed performance out of him is to pay off his contract and then sign him on a season long pay as you play deal. He hasn't been that great since we signed him permanently. When I first started supporting Saints we always had some 1st teamers that were definites on the team sheet and ones I always hoped we could hold on to. Now though I listen to the team sheet and shrug - there are players I prefer over others but not to any major degree. We could do with some players that simply "want it" more than anyone else and that may have to come from the lower divisions. Anyway, we've generally had a pretty lousy record when signing so called decent players - Hirst, Groves, Delap, Hughes, Petrescu, Dixon and Speedie spring to mind. They all had decent repututations and didn't really deliver. The ones that did were either home grown or slipped under the radar and became heroes. Of course I'm generalising and there are exceptions though. It would be helpful if we could sort it out earlier than later but this is Saints. I'm still surprised not to be hitting F5 on a takeover thread.
  20. Legend if only for that interview he did where someone asked him what he would be if he wasn't a footballer. His reply was "virgin".
  21. Austin's Dad scored didn't he? Sky curse is nonsense - we lost too many games whether we were on Sky or not.
  22. After the game I went fishing and look what I caught! Sorry lads. In all seriousness if it floats your boat then fine. Cricket doesn't really do much for me but fair play to everyone there - it sounds like you had a good time.
  23. He's nothing like Doddsy. I'd sign him on that performance but we'd to sacrfifice a genuine winger on the right side to accommodate him - it takes him half hour to get back from the oppo half! Luckily his crosses are good enough that most of the time he can jog back because we've just scored a goal.
  24. Yep, Football (albeit a meaningless friendly) is far more exciting than that past time called cricket. I watched what i could but it's always Saints first for me.
  25. Murty was Number 2 I think? As a friendly though I don't think the squad numbers were used? To be honest I only used the numbers when referring to the hearts players - incidentally their numbers 9, 10 and 7 all looked quality.
