question for our financial experts
Horley CTFC Saint replied to sad saints fan's topic in The Saints
Agreed I reckon the club is currently being run at a 'managable loss' - the big win is if they get into the Premier League (and can stay there) in a relatively short period of time. If that happens I would expect a change in ownership or additional external capital coming in - failing that I would guess that the strategy might change if say 3-5 years if we are still trundling along in the lower echelons and running with a managable loss. -
Portsmouth fail to pay their players again...

If that happens it will be more than a salutory lesson it will herald some very difficult times for all clubs - things have to change but not through a Prem club going 'pop' - because of the likely repercussions of such an occurrence it would be a disaster for most of our clubs -

To be honest I'm very sad at this latest news. It should be of great concern to all of us that this is happening to a Premier League club even Poopey. Remember our turn around this season is largely predicated on the good will of one individual. If Poopey are seen to fail as a Premier League club what hope the rest of us? -
Quack, quack

An acid test

Couldn't we just buy their assets - I'm sure a few of their players would be good enough to get in the Saints team - that would also negate the need for Pompey to groundshare

At this stage of the season we should still be targeting automatic promotion - always aim high. If you accept mediocrity thats what you will get

He has if the programme interview with him is to be believed

Not actually a goal but I do remember Alec Lindsay being sent off for being headbutted by Terry Paine Pretty disgusting if you were a Liverpool fan but as I'm Saints..........

Who went to every Cup game in '76?
Horley CTFC Saint replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
Not me.....but I did in 2003 starting in the Extra Preliminary Round - where were Saints then? -
You should always stay a Saint - back in the days of the Dell and Premier League football I took to watching a bit of my local Southern League team Crawley Town - the gulf was enough for it not to seem disloyal especially as tickets were so hard to come by down at the Dell. Now look at it 18 years down the line we are potentially one season away from playing in the same Division as Crawley and supporting Saints and Crawley seems just a bit like bigamy!

And it happened regularly! Every new manager seemed to be appointed just ahead of Saints playing a team - no change there then. Lets hope we are a different kettle of fish these days

Objective Assessment Season to Date?
Horley CTFC Saint replied to Kingsbridge Saint's topic in The Saints
I've also compared our performance with Pompeys results: August 4 games 0 points = 0.0 per game/Differential +0.6 september 3 games 0 points = 0.0 per game/Differential +1.2 per game -
Seems a bit childish - I thought our club had got past this sort of thing. Glad to see that Lawrie and the Cup has been reinstated though. There was surely always room for both Donnys steam engine and the FA Cup pic but perhaps our budget doesnt extend to a hammer and picture hanger these days

It was great having that feeling of inevitability that Colchester were going to score a last minute winner......................and then realising that they they weren't going to get it!
-
Too right and........we're still unbeaten at home all season!

Usain Bolt's without a club at the moment

I don't think you should discard the play-offs just yet - not 3 games into the season with the nucleus of last years inexperienced squad, a few newbies and with more likely to follow. Once the team settles and becomes accustomed to AP's approach I expect some good sustained results taking us well up to the table

Not as bad a Brighton

Sounds more like an employee scam then to me which would be embezzlement and an employee fidelity issue rather than deliberate fraud by the company - phew (in a manner of speaking). Didn't this used to happen regularly in the old days down at the Dell with swathes of away supporters being let in at the Milton end and then having to be escorted down to the Archers Road by the local polis?
-
How would the club destroy the paper/electronic trail from the ticket sales...and the insurer if it had agreed to two stands only being opened would have insisted that they were adequately stewarded i.e. enough stewards to cater for fully occupied stands - so that doesn't equate either
-
Doesn't this constitute fraud - thats a pretty heavy accusation to lay at the clubs doorstep!?
