We're home so it won't matter 😉

Probably Ron Davies

Yes but you will have to admit that if McCarthy hadn't kept us in with several crucial saves it they would have been well ahead long before that. We were staggeringly inept in defence after the break.
-
What a complete & utter load of tosh. If Hasenhüttl believes this kind of nonsense then the guy is becoming seriously delusional. Talk about clutching at straws for solice. We were beaten fair and square and I'm not sure they even broke sweat to pick us apart second half. Fact is Ralph you cocked it up big time today, we never looked like taking anything from the game even when 2-nil up and you had no answer to dealing with the changes that OGS made at HT.

Pathetic!

Second best all afternoon. We're missing the lift that Danny Ings brings to the team both in quality and morale. They bring on Cavani, we bring on Long - say's it all really, end of story. He was utterly useless as usual. Ralph seems blinded by certain players. What he sees in the lad is beyond me. Djenepo was at least a threat still.

Argentina in for a very rough time on the evidence of the mob gathering in Buenos Aires yesterday for his funeral. 60 far too young to leave the stage.

Covid has not gone away so many over 65's will still not want to take the risk.

With a week's good training behind us, Bertie and JWP more match fit and Djenepo & Armstrong back on song after their wayward performances last time out we could be in very good shape indeed. If we can re-establish our fluidity and automatism we might surprise a few people. Of course they have good attacking options with pace and flair so our back four and the two DMFs will need to be at their best to give us belief. Going forward we are always a threat so the trick will be to use home advantage to keep us on the front foot with the high press. Their defence isn't that well organised so there are goals for us to be taken. Adams and Walcott need to be sharp, not so sharp as to be over-hasty but cool-headed sharp. They will likely resort to the long ball over the top routine to beat the press as the game wears on so the big lads at the back will need to be focused to deal with their counter-attacks. We won't stop them all sadly so for me it is almost a guaranteed 2-2.

Keeping Track of the Contracts 2024-25
Charlie Wayman replied to Over land and sea's topic in The Saints
He certainly did not name names. In fact it was a bloody stupid comment to make when you think about it, he is usually far more guarded than that. No self respecting manger should air his concerns outside the boardroom. -
Not an opinion that. many would have agreed with such a fast rebound would always favour the attacking team.

That was a very hard day at the office. With Djenepo and Armstrong having a bad hair day and Bertie and JWP not match fit after their injuries, we were quite fortunate to get away with it. It does show how wafer thin our squad is that all these players needing to be subbed but with whom?
-
He didn't say that or mention these players, that is Tom Leach sh*t stirring as usual to unsettle a winning small team and breed dissatisfaction with their lot amongst players. Perhaps the Bindippers fancy both?
-
Beyond the rather aimless speculation about the team line-up or final score, I am quite looking forward to this match and will happily stump up the £9.99 fee to watch it uninterrupted by streaming problems. My hope is that we will pick up where we left off at SMS a couple of weeks ago and play the same fast open and exciting football that pulverised the Magpies. COYS!

Keeping Track of the Contracts 2024-25
Charlie Wayman replied to Over land and sea's topic in The Saints
Some of the speculation on here is unfounded and ridiculous. Not a shred of evidence to support any of the concerns expressed. We are in the midst of a pandemic facing an uncertain future. Contract talks are not urgent with any of these players. As we have seen with Romeu all parties have to find the time to sit down together and talk and agree a way forward and that is not easy during lockdown, bubbles or no bubbles and ZOOM is not secure enough for detailed talks. It is unlikely Ryan Bertrand or Jan Bednarek could get a better deal than we can offer them at the moment, Ryan is approaching the sunset of his career while Jan is young and still has a lot to prove to attract serious interest from a 'big' club as an automatic starter. Why would he want to go to another medium sized club like ours with more or less the same level of achievement and ambition unless he really hates the area? Not that there has been the slightest hint of unrest or dissatisfaction with their lot from either player. In Ryan's case it is known that he is ambitious for a future in football beyond ball-kicking with a DoF role (mentioned by RH) clearly on his horizon. While that may not be here perhaps he will want a new contract that helps him build towards his long term goals as well as providing him with a decent salary, perhaps by including help with coaching qualifications or even management training. Patience in all matters is the best attribute to have right now. -
Didn't realise he was a carpenter by trade?

Not necessarily "Oh dear 🙄". If Theo keeps going as he is, we may not miss Danny quite as much as most people fear. The problem might then be how do we fit Danny and Theo into our side together with Redmond & Djenepo gnawing at the bit on the sidelines and Stuart Armstrong not about to roll over and disappear. The future is bright, it's Red & White!

News of Oriol Romeu's new contract is absolutely bloody marvellous, so well deserved. It was unbelievable that we would have let his contract run down or allow doubts to be sown in his mind that he didn't figure in our future plans. As we have found to our cost relying on youthful talent alone to get us by will never be enough in this toughest of leagues and it is good that the club philosophy has change to accomodate a blend of youth and experience. We could not hope to buy such a player on the open market or anybody good enough to replace him. Personally I have always loved him for his never-say-die attitude, his loyalty and his work ethic It is critically important now that this deal is over the line that we concentrate on Bertie's future here. Surely it is a no brainier to offer him a 2 1/2 year contract as well. He is a bright, thoughtful, sometimes disarmingly arrogant player who has the ability like Oriol Romeu to lead from the front and lift the teams performance. Absolutely irreplaceable in our set-up. Come on Ralph, Crocker, whoever, get the deal done! You know it makes sense!
-
If Crocker is any good Hasenhüttl won't be going anywhere.

What do we need a badge for?

By March, Southgate may be gone so no problem.
-
Fantastic keeper, one of my heroes from that super sixties team. Seems only yesterday, where did all the time go - cue - misty eyed nostalgia.😢 Sadly, there will be no eulogies in the mainstream media as he didn't play for Manure or the Bindippers
-
Good see Bertie back in training yesterday
-
Every chance of being the real champions this season.
-
How many yellows is he on at the moment? Seems to me he has better discipline this season.
