Will Still appears to be disdainful of systems of play but his alternative looks to be completely haphazard relying on his players to play by their instincts, almost like making it up as they go along. Most will have recent memories of Russball deeply engrained into their psyche so it's not surprising they revert to that in the absence of anything better being taught them. We don't have a team full of Messi's and Salah's who maybe could be left to innovate and get on with it Will. I have not been impressed at all by what you have served up so far, not quite as incoherent as Sunday League kick and rush but not that much better either. Can anybody be surprised that we have gone behind in all four matches played? In my view the players might actually prefer a system of play that they can relate to, learn and adopt. @sortitoutWillfhs

I'm not that optimistic. In his pre match presser he said that the silly defensive errors leading to give-away goals were easy to eliminate through (his) better coaching and awareness. There was't much evidence of progress in that direction yesterday. Some players let us down badly yesterday, notably Fernandes who cannot be statisfied with that performance, his heart just was't in it. Manning especially infuriates me, rinse and repeat all afternoon. This week will be telling, if the club fail to get the right people in to improve us fans are in for a very disappointing season; that's a big "if" based on who they've brought in so far in this window. No way Saints will be going up with this squad of unimaginative journeymen.

I am cautiosly pessimistic. If we lose our 'star' players next week, unlikley to be strong enough to sustain a challenge at the top. A couple of defeats can deflate Still's balloon quickly and then it will be a struggle. The remaining squad is probably only good enough for 14th especially if a few key players get injured.

It's not really Aribo's fault if nobody comes in for him with a sensible bid so why the need to punish him for not leaving?

I don't think so. More like he seems to lack self confidence for some reason or another. All through the PC he was twitching and scratching and hugging himself, the body language of being self conscious. He needs to get past this hang up, probably through professional media coaching. We can't assume that because he's a brilliant football coach that he has been trained to do the media stuff as well. We are well past the stage of expecting these guys to face the media without support; leaving them to make it up as they go along. High fives for Adam who tried to help as much as he could.
