  1. The conclusion from last Saturday's performance is that Armstrong is overly anxious and as a result over trying so causing himself more problems than he is solving. Evidently he is brilliant on the ball, once in possession the ball seems to stick to his feet rather like Boufal and clearly defenders are scared of touching him in the box. Instead of shooting every time he nears goal he needs to improve his pacing and awareness of where his team mates and oppo defenders are and choose the right option. He needs to understand that an assist is as valuable as a goal, 10 goals and 10 assists will please as much as trying to impress by notching the elusive 20 goals benchmark for top strikers.
  2. A mix of cynicism and despair. Never rule out the possibility that some players may actually love being here and playing for Ralph. We were told early on that Mohammed Salisu was a sensitive and shy lad not helped by being in a completely strange environment and culture. There seems to have been some sort of transformation in his confidence, no doubt helped by the likes of Kelvin Davies. Young players need the right sort of guidance and support during their development and may actually see the people offering that as part of their 'family' and these bonds might be stronger than one might realise. There is clearly a comradely buzz around the club at the moment and a sense of togetherness. If nothing else changes and solid progress is made then I do not see him being in a hurry to leave, expect to see him in a Saints shirt for several years ahead.
  3. Isn't hindsight great.
  4. Smallbone also getting minutes in his legs so no disgrace for Nathan to turn out for the stiffs.
  5. Things do seem to be on the way up suddenly.
  6. That's simply dreadful, whatever your day job stick with it.
  7. If you think a bunch of idiots singing "You are watching F. S." all evening and clearly heard on the stream is "class" then shame on you. Nothing short of disgracefully embarrassing in my book.
  8. Just to point out that 4 of the penalty takes were late subs, only Armstrong from the starting XI took one. Seems to suggest that the other players who started were knackered and cramping up and Hasenhüttl deemed it too risky for them to take penalties.
  9. Theo hardly touched the ball after coming on. He is miles off the pace sadly and it is probably too late now for any kind of effective recovery. At least Smallbone got involved and had a couple of decent efforts. Armstrong is a long way off being the player we remember and Diallo's limitations were clearly on display. Lyanco looks like a half decent player. Salisu also superb. Well played Fraser Forster.
  10. So why not Livramento as an AMF? This is a game we are unlikely to win even with our strongest team so we might as well give the fringe lads a run out and hope Chelsea tire of scoring for fun. Also, do we need to be distracted by this competition with our PL performances causing concern?
  11. .....and he built us a new stadium. Imagine of we were still stuck with the Dell🤯
  12. Can you imagine getting on a coach that has no Tic Tacs on board?
  13. I agree with most of this. With the press calling for OGS's head after an unusual 5-0 defeat at home, Mr Hasenhüttl can count himself very fortunate indeed for making it to three years. In my head, three years of the best and worst of what he is able to serve up is enough and we should call time and move on but in my heart I would miss him as a person of high integrity and candour in an occupation not renowned for either. If we change nothing, nothing will change. I think we can rule out the "Roy of the Rovers" miraculous transformation that we all dream about most Friday evenings.
  14. Nathan Tella's exclusion is down to Hasenhüttl's poor judgement, simple as that.
  15. We must accept that this is where we are with our current team and system, as good as Burnley but no better nor worse. It may be unpalatable to some but in itself that is nothing to be ashamed of. Many of our fans have assumed for years that we are superior to Burnley in style of football and quality of players, that Burnley are dour and a bunch of spoilers and little else. What we discovered yesterday is that nothing could be further from the truth. This is a new style and much improved Burnley that can press and string passes together, defend brilliantly and play neat football as well and they certainly matched us for much of the game. To those who complain that this was two points loss to a poor team that we should have won, I would say neither of these teams are poor and both will finish up safely in lower mid-table. In terms of the detail which everyone has covered already it is clear to me but not to Herr Hasenhüttl that Livramento is always knackered after 65 minutes and his effectiveness lost as was the case again yesterday. With a near world class RB on the bench who came close to being Saints Player of the Season last year why on earth doesn't Ralph freshen things up by using him? My other question to Chino man is why are you not as patient and tolerant of Nathan Tella as you are with the two Chelsea imports. Start Nathan and give him a run of games in the PL and he too may develop into a class act? Just asking! Poor Theo, I felt a bit sorry for him left out there to struggle on when clearly he was having a mare. Surely Stuart Armstrong will start at Watford
  16. 3-0 will take us above Villa so that must be the objective. COYS
  17. I wonder why you can't be bothered to spell his name correctly?
  18. Yes, Yes and Yes again!
  19. Funny you should say that as Barca's keeper is out of contract and could move
  20. Wasn't Benitez an A lister ?????????????
  21. Not just you, I have highlighted this in several after match comments lately. It is unusual to sub a full back except through injury presumably because coaches consider this as a waste of a tactical substitution option. Th majority of our subs are for the 10 position or strikers.
  22. Don't forget the bloke who used to walk the touchline selling throat pastilles!
  23. Same starting XI as last week, agree with many that too early to start Stuart Armstrong. Why change a winning team? Having said that KWP could be more of a threat than Perraud down the left flank and may get the nod.
  24. 😉
  25. Semmens said recently (podcast) that contract renewals are now a top priority after the fiascos of losing Bertrand, Ings & Vestergaard and that several negotiations are on-going. I would expect Ralph to be keen to keep Mohammed Elyonoussi at St Mary's. This suggests to me that his agent has been busy dropping less than subtle hints for a pay rise and contract extension for a player who has found himself back in favour at Britannia Road. The Arsenal link is obviously ridiculous. They are most likely to be the next PL club to change managers long before Mohammed could leave on a free.
