That's the problem in a nutshell. He is too close to the players to manage them effectively. The 'mates' culture doesn't work because it breeds laziness and ultimately contempt.

I gave up my season ticket this season precisely because there was a moany bloke on either side of me last year. They drove me crazy week after week to the extent that I hoped they wouldn't turn up just to give my ears and brain a break! Unfortunately it wasn't the moany blokes that left. No doubt they're having a field day this season.

This was beyond frustrating, we were clearly the better side for 35mins so how on earth did we contrive to lose the match? Whatever Martin changes tactically the end result is always the same. Something is broken and he really has not got a clue as to how to fix it. Most fans have run out of patience now surely? Time for the P45 on his desk Monday morning, Announcement tomorrow?

No we're not, only in your mind.

Well done THB. Just being part of the squad working with different coaches will be hugely beneficial to him. Doubt he'll get any minutes on the pitch at this stage.

I am not a great believer in "people taking the long term appoach" especially in football where everything is transient and short term. That is akin to "kicking the can down the road" It is cited a lot on here but Ockham's Razor should always be at the forefront of one's mind when making assessments. Yo-yo is not a strategy.

It's only yet another random person's opinion, why would he take any more notice of this one than any other? He won't!

If we are to go on a run, now is a very good time to reinforce the excellent win on Saturday with another victory, unlikely as that may seem to some. I am going to stick out my neck and forecast 1-0 win to the Saints. Relegation is not a certainty by any means for either of these teams but on balance from what I have seen this season, Saints seem to have the better credentials to progress. Thankfully there have been no sightings of fat ladies so far in the Northam.

Tonight I'm just happy and relieved that we have won a match. We played with more flair and drive and it paid off. We need a youg Lallana in midfield and certainly not Captain Shoehorn. 'One swallow' of course but we can look forward to next weekend with a bit more belief. Well done lads.

He's as mad as a flippin hatter if he really believes the crap he comes out with at PCs. Delusional and insulting to his audience.

Sean Dyche's presser was infintely more astute and informative than any I have heard from Martin. The man has his feet firmly on the ground and knows how football should be played in the PL. If the Toffees ditch him then why not bring him south? Everton are doing well under him now and it's not difficult to understand why. They will be far to good for us tomorrow and we risk being tonked 0-4 . Doubt this will be the last hurrah for Martin though, what degree of humiliation will dislodge him escapes me.

Not all relationships are the same old chap.

Saints playing as badly as they ever have
Charlie Wayman replied to Andrew Watson's topic in The Saints
By your measure Andrew, things can only get better so that's something to look forward to surely? Every cloud has a silver lining, storms pass, winter ends then life springs forth all over again. -
Only in Groundhog Day, things improved slightly every day until pefection was achieved.

Get rid of the dog!

Both are very taxing.

Fair do's, creative accounting is all the rage; make it up as you go along.

Captain Jack & Wiley Willy will save the day for us. When all else fails……………..

Players who we didn’t get the best out of
Charlie Wayman replied to Midfield_General's topic in The Saints
Sadio Mane was outstanding for us and for Liverpool. His 4 minute or so hat-trick aginst Villa at St Mary's was probably the finest performance from a Saints player that we have ever had the privilege to witness. -
I'm with Whitey on this one

It runs deeper than that. The man defintely has attitude which rankles with many even though they don't know him or have never met him, think Trump, think Johnson, think Farage. By the same measure very few took a dislike to Ralph evn when things were going badly.

That's a quarter of the season gone Martin, how much longer is it going to take?
-
Get him in quick!

Surely you know how it works? It's like the press corps travelling with the PM to Samoa and sending news clips back to London of interviews with the PM on a sunny, sandy beach that could just as esily have been doen in London or through Face Time at home. It's a gravy train circus where everyone has a part to play in the performance and nobody rocks the boat.
