  2. The youngsters were getting a chance under clubman Frank Lampard but now that he has been ousted to make way for another foreign manager with a big budget from Abramovich, they probably feel it's best to move on.
  3. If you think that's all there is to it then we really are in trouble. We have two weeks left to determine who plays and who does not, to work out our best team and get them playing together and working on partnerships and tactics. The days of turning up on the day and making it up as you go along are way past or hadn't you noticed? and to MLG Of course I realise that. See my post above where I see you do agree on time running short. To Other Critics I paid £8 to watch both matches rather than scrounge them for free through illegal links to dodgy websites and watched every single minute of both games. My comments were based on what I saw, not on wishful thinking and a quick watch of highly selective highlights.
  4. Not sure what Ralph was trying to achieve today. Starting XI today will never be our starting XI in the PL. A game of two halves, the second being a snore-fest. What did we learn from this shambles? Not a lot! Tella is a future star; Ings just isn't at the races for whatever reason; we need Vestegaard back; Perraud has a lot ofwork to do to replace Bertrand adequately. Let's hope the games next week are more meaningful for the season ahead. Still, Swansea need my £5
  5. ... plus his Academy mate Matt Targett is there. Also don't forget he scored two free kicks against Villa last season so they know what they can get from him.
  6. Will be interesting to see if he plays against The Swans tomorrow or has picked up yet another little knock on his calf. Let's be objective, Grealish scares the wits out of opposition defenders and is surely worth far more than JWP, who obviously isn't rated that highly by Southgate and that must count for something in the minds of other clubs. He needs to convince that he is more than a one trick pony and not particularly good at that trick. £35m is fair tops I'd say.
  7. Not quite the £100m investment many might have hoped for and new screens and pictures of our Golden Poster Boy seem odd priorities. Some decent new loos and an end to smelly rot-your-socks urinals would have been a better place to spend £2.5m especially now that dodgy local craft beers will be on offer. I mean who in 2021 has a urinal in their house?
  8. Picture 39 pretty much say it all you need to know about how successful our transfer window has been, Stevens, Long & Obafemi together close up in one pic. Must be striking fear and trepidation into the hearts of other PL teams.
  9. For heaven's sake, it's a new season so let's not write them off even before they have kicked a ball! Both looked decent in last night's friendly and Theo's goal was magnificent.
  10. Is there anything in the rules that says we can't play Forster & McCarthy together. That should keep the goals against tally down.
  11. What to take from this stroll in the park? Great value for £3, thank you CCFC. Excellent commentary but a bit OTT in their admiration of Saints. Cardiff were woeful like rabbits caught in headlights. Big Mick for the chop very soon? That or the drop, no guts, no fight, no clue. We did it without poster boy! Now then? What are we still paying Ings for? Seriously. Obafemi really is crap. Salisu is a bit of a curate's egg, let's hope Vestergaard stays. Valery was Valery as always. Some very nice line breaking passes leading to our goals, looks like we are learning at last. Even Adams. If Romeu and Diallo work together on the details of their partnership we will have a really decent central midfield. Love Tella; hope Theo can keep up this new found enthusiasm. We will not win the PL title
  12. Jack Stevens would have been the better, cheaper and more appropriate choice and dare one say the more obvious one.
  13. Some clarity needed here, wasn't Kelvin Davis supposed to be our "transition mentor" to help the young players step up to the fist team and also to deal with their social concerns? Perhaps he is on his way out the door. I mean how much is the job of putting out the cones before a match worth?
  14. Please stop posting for a few weeks young man, you are getting on my nerves with your unfounded monotonous conspiracy theory nonsense. Either that or I will reluctantly place you on ignore. Being a boorish smart-arse really isn't all that attractive as a personal attribute.
  15. Ralph has always insisted that Ings will be here next season. If he has been true to his word then the club has probably refused offers and insisted on him staying to see out his contract. Of course if he leaves on a free next summer but his goals keep us up this season then it's money well wasted. There is also an outside chance that Saints might defy the odds and compete within the top ten, in which case we become a far more attractive proposition for new players to join next summer. Not sure that would entice Ings to stay mind you, as we have said before he is probably looking for a pension top-up at a big club to see out his career.
  16. Wishful thinking in my opinion. Whenever has SFC done the sensible and obvious thing. Suspect our window is done.
  17. Mostly about adding miles to the legs without too much danger of injuries. Good to see Elyo start but no sign of the lanky Dane. How long a break is the guy allowed?
  18. Complete tosh! Don't embarrass yourself.
  19. I doubt my wife would know who Harry Kane was if he sat next to us on the bus
  20. Neither of these statement are true.
  21. We used to call this common sense.
  22. I like a lad with a bit of character and Mario seems to be quite the lad. Love that perma-smile. We need more of these and less creased brows and solemn stares this season. I would love see a fairy tale ending to this saga with the lad suddenly coming good for Saints and becoming an outstanding midfielder. Nice would be the best solution all round if he does leave, we have good relations with them and for Mario (arguably) Nice will be a somewhat more exciting place than Portswood or Shirley to shop in and go clubbing.
  23. Certainly missing today as was Lemina, pictures can tell many thousands of words. Having said that Theo also was a no show so who really knows what's going on. Elyonoussi seems very active and happy maybe he knows something we don't? Repling to Wimbourne Saint (below) Thank for pointing that out. I think you are right unless these guys have image rights! The only ones that feature many time each session seems to be Forster & Stevens.
  24. We have plenty of defenders with two left feet or two right feet. It would be nice to have at least one with one of each.
  25. These youngsters have read the script, play for Southampton and you have a better than evens chance of advancing quickly into PL football. Do that well and you are more or less guaranteed a big money move to a top club like er... Chelseas?
