  1. Despite changing a few players and changing a few coaches we are still stuck with the same style of play that Ralph insists upon yet which patently does not work very well as witnessed last season. I had hoped that with new coaches we would have a more dynamic, direct and incisive style of play but it seem not, or at least not so far. Ralph's system has never produced many goals so if he is stubbornly refusing to change it and the new coaches don't have the bottle to challenge him and exert their own style of play, we will struggle once again. Last night's display looked exactly like most of last year's with very little evidence of a significant move away from the slow sideways, backwards and narrow style that opposition teams find so easy to play against and neutralise. People should be a little concerned at our inability to beat a relatively middle-of-the road Austrian side. Although we had most of the play in the second half we created very little and were easily held by the Klagenfurt defence. An easy night for them, an uneasy night for anybody who cares about Saints next season. There were one or two pigeons hovering over the stadium last night
  2. Lyanco & Diallo played well in the first half along with Smallbone in the first quarter. Small was poor and Adams looked shot.
  3. Sorry I thought you had written.........
  4. He is you know.
  5. Anyone new would impress in our team. The standard otherwise is low.
  6. it's an opinion not a set of facts that can be right or wrong
  7. ????????????????? Where have you been these last twenty years old chap? That's always been our business model. Some of us had rather hoped that things might be different from now on under the new ownership. In any case all these speculative reports are just that, pure bullshit and nothing will come of them. Do you really think that the Alpine Flopp will let his best or second best player go when all he has to work with as the next season begins is a bunch of raw kids with the square root of sod all PL experience between them and the same old past-it fannies who nearly dropped us last year. Without KWP, JWP & OR he'd be up the creek paddle-less. Trust me KWP will be a Saint for at least two more seasons. Money will be sorted but not in public!
  8. Doubtful there was a buy back clause? Cannot recall one being featured at the time. Pretty sure he is ours to keep. Didn't Mourinho insult the lad pretty badly before he left, shouldn't think he'd want to go near that place again
  9. Worst kit ever IMO. Looks cheap & cheerful and defo not sophisticated enough for a PL outfit. Can we get our money back?
  10. Quality will follow a Gaussian curve. Markers should be set at 1, 2 & 3 SD's
  11. There's an awful lot of depressive speculation about KWP on here but honest folks he ain't going anywhere anytime soon. Why would he? First or second on the team sheet every week and that won't change in the foreseeable future nor has there been any sign of grumblings from the man himself. Of course other teams would like him and they know our history as a selling club so a bit of sh*t stirring* here and there by club's agents is intended to sow seeds of doubt within the player's mind and those of fans as well. By swallowing this bait hook, line and sinker fans on here are falling into the trap of creating a febrile atmosphere designed to undermine the player's temperament. Stay positive folks and let their* little game play out without reaction.
  12. Yeah but everything has changed at Staplewood and Britannia Road since then, that was then this is now.
  13. We have one of the best RBs's in the PL yet we seem determined to undermine his position here and probably his confidence by these constant rumours of our interest in other players for his position. Although he comes across as a thoroughly decent, popular and settled individual, it should be remembered that everyone has their limit on the number of times they will stand by to be 'insulted' in this way. It's all very well insisting that he can play equally well in other positions but why should he be the one forced to play out of position to keep a place in the team? The club are playing a dangerous game which could result in one very pissed off player wanting out simply to get better treatmest choice RBnt and greater stability in his career and a real shot at becoming England's first choice RB. We lose Kyle Water-Peters at our peril, our best and most consistent player by far.
  14. Assuming that the leopards have changed spots. Normally in a transfer window at Saints 'no news' means nothing is happening. Just possibly they are mulling over trying to make some sort of deal with Chelsea for Broja 🤞. Despite many gossip rumours linking the lad to the Hammers or the Geordies there has been no movement. Maybe we have first refusal 🤞, maybe the lad has indicted a preference to stay on the south coast 🤞 rather than emigrate to the barren wastes of the heathen lands north of the Thames.
  15. Tell me this is a wind-up, p-l-e-e-z-e! This just goes from bad to worse. The designer must be on hallucinating drugs. Yuk!
  16. QUITE!
  17. Please Redmond go now.
  18. Let's not get carried away old chap. Nobody has died wearing No 7. Eric Day & Terry Paine wore that shirt with great distinction long before le Tissier or Ricky came along and inevitably there will be other far more illustrious names to follow in the years ahead.
  19. In his heyday Shane Long was one of those rare players who could light up a stadium with his surging runs and terrific finishes. When it was announced that he was coming to join Saints there was an understandable buzz about the place that initially was fully justified but as time passed his effectiveness and finishing prowess gradually diminished with the inevitable result of him becoming a bit part player. Nevertheless he will be remembered more for the good times and as a decent and respectful human being with a big personality who never did anything to sully his own or the club's reputation. Better than a journeyman he has served the club well and I join many others who would like to thank him for his contribution to our success in the PL since promotion and wish him well for his future. Good luck Shane.
  20. Nobody bit on this but I agree with you, he is worth a punt IMO
  21. We shouldn't be too complacent either, brilliant as they may be as individuals it will be a mighty challenge to get them playing together harmoniously in a system of play that will be alien to most of them.
  22. Everyone has a wish list and an agent. No way will he be allowed to leave with our emphasis on developing youth players.
  23. People have cried our for a bit of experience to be brought into the squad as well as raw youth. Careful what you wish for.
  24. Ugh! and Yuk! Surely the ghastliest kit of the last 50 years. Nothing about it says Saints.
  25. I wouldn't be happy to see Lyanco leave. Stephens is over the hill anyway and we should ship him out
