Dull? Mauricio can never be dull. Beats having Shearer and Wright constantly spouting absolute tosh anytime. Good chance we'll make the last 16 'though. After Brexit who can blame Europeans for thinking we are a bunch of bone idle w*&^%$s, they got their cues from Johnson.

Really weird how much faster his 'tache is growing than the rest of the beard.

?????????? No Kevin Davies?

Is there a stream that you are watching?

Sensible reality check. Bit of a joke that they are in the World Cup but we've said that about many teams who's only reason for being there is to fulfil FIFA's misguided notion of wider inclusivity.

I thought Salisu played very poorly against Portugal and was responsible for at least two of their goals. Same mistakes that he makes for Saints. In the cool and cruel light of day, how good is he really?

...and we would still have Oriol Romeu.

Actually one could argue fairly that most are past their best and relying on reputations.

We're in it to win it... France v England Final, surely worth a bet.

You are very easily woo'd. Just a glimpse of a hairy ankle and you're anybody's 😉

We have grumbled and excused ourselves for years about how poorly we fare in World Cups because they come at the end of a season when all our players are knackered. With this World Cup not even at the halfway mark of our season, with our players just about bedded in for the season ahead and at their peak, was today's performance an indication that England might benefit very well from the timing and actually perform at a much higher level than we are used to seeing in the World Cup? It wasn't only Iran either, they are a decent and stubborn side with a great record coming into this tournament yet we brushed them aside with an ease that we rarely have seen from our national team. In the past, chances are we'd have ended up with a 1- 1 draw. If today's performance is anything to go by and they can keep it at this level, surely we must in with a. great chance of winning the trophy.

Shades of dear old Ralphy

Refined footballer he may not be but he is the sort of gung-ho fighter that will likely appeal to Jones, the sort of player that would literally 'die' for the right manager. Don't be surprised if he becomes a regular under the new regime. The baying mob determined to lynch him should remember that he is no worse than our other more lauded options in the back line judging by our total inability to keep the ball out of our own net. In any case he won't be going anywhere until the new management set-up has had a good look at all their options. As I said yesterday if you really are a fan and care about Saints then stop vilifying our players and get behind them. Leave judgement to the coaching staff who might actually know a bit more about football than any of us.

What is the best goal you've ever seen live at a Saints game?
Charlie Wayman replied to tunit's topic in The Saints
Were you there? Who knows we could have been standing next to one another. I remember it very well, we were speechless and close to tears at the end of the match. All those years of waiting but never quite believing it would ever happen. -
What on earth are you talking about? By no stretch of the imagination is playing for Saints a guarantee of accolades at international level. We are not Man C or Arsenal just in case you are a bit confused as to how these things work

Come on lads don't get suckered into jumping on the band wagon of the morons who take pleasure in bad mouthing our players when things are not going well. Time to get off the lad's back and show him a bit of support and understanding. A goalkeeper can only be as good as the back row in front of him and our bunch are generally pretty useless at marking their men and snuffing out threats on goal. It wouldn't matter who was between the sticks in this shower of a defence the outcomes would be the same.

That famous Mick Channon goal inspired by KK and the more recent Sofiane Boufal' mazy run and superb finish against WBA stand out most in my memory... and the Steve Moran winner at Old Wembley... and... and... In fact every Saints goal is memorable simply because of its rarity. I loved the Adams header on Saturday too. Oh yes and as the gentleman above reminds me Cuco Martina's fantasy strike against Arsenal... -
Yep, we'll get suckered again landed with at least a two year contract for another player who's glory day are well in the past.

I have a horrible feeling that letting Romeu go in the summer was the straw that broke our camel's back.
-
Everyone apart from you it seems. If you really don't care then why are you setting out your stall as a Saints fan?
-
How does that help, he wasn't prolific when he was here last. In any case if Chelsea allowed him to leave for a second time that would tell us all we need to know about what they think of his potential. Been there done that, we need somebody new with no Saints baggage.
-
About half the fan base would quit and we'd be left with crowds of 15k. Imagine the appeal of Stoke City or Luton Town at SMS on a dark, dank, freezing Tuesday evening. 🤧🥶 No thank you, 🙏 we've been there done that. Most of us want to see Man C, Man U & Arsenal as our visitors on a fine sunny Saturday afternoon. Anyway, it's all academic as Mr Jones will keep us up.
-
I see what you did there but which one will stay up 😉😉? It is turning into a very challenging season for at least a dozen clubs not because they are so obviously as poor as Norwich were last year but because every club has upped its game with better players and the standard of the Division has improved as a whole. It's a case of keeping up rather than falling behind for those who want to survive. Although 'tis said that there is always one club that drops like a stone later in the season, can't see that happening myself this time around. It will be a dog fight until the final whistle on the final day of the season. Guaranteed almost that 40 points will be needed to survive. Wolves, Forest and Bournemouth will drop but Saints will be in the mix on the final day

Rickie scored in ours and his first PL game v Man C didn't he? There was only ever one Rickie Lambert one of the few ex-Saints players not to be slagged off on here after he left us. That tells you something.
