Don't fret, questions will have to be submitted beforehand and therefore screened. nothing contentious will be allowed.

Or to put it another way we need 26 points from 18 games - 7 wins and 5 draws - to be safe, leaving only 6 defeats…... How likely is that? We have a better chance of finding a lake of warm custard on the moon.

Anybody who seriously thinks that we will get anything out of this game is living in cloud cuckooland. Ralph's side were humiliated and the side we will put out on Saturday will be much the same team - the two new signings aren't even bedded in so can't feature, the two recent signings are clearly not up to PL speed so we will be bit part players at best. Jones is no magician, his ethos seems to be blood, sweat and long balls so he is unlikely to conjure up any surprise this weekend. 1-3 to Brentford, Tony to wreak havoc amongst our clueless back three.

You’ll blame Ely even if he isn’t picked

The Peter Principle has proven correct yet again.

I bet you had never heard of him until this thread appeared and already you have a firm opinion on his worth?

Oh for the days when it used to be Ted, or Fred, Jim or Jack!

It's written in the tablets, Saints are going to win the FA Cup.

We are a complete and utter shambles of a club.

Two day to go? Predictable? Inevitable? Promises, promises! Never promise what you can't deliver.

Yo asked for a striker and got a train driver?

We are reliably unreliable when it comes to delivering promises in any transfer window not just in January. We know how this is going to end and the face saving bulls*t that will follow. The script is written, they just need to blow off the dust and change the date.

Spy in the camp? Jones' wingman. Golf bag carrier. Say no more.

Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg

Bloody hell! This was only his first game. Give it a break. -
Jimmy Jay Morgan not to sign a pro contract at club!
Charlie Wayman replied to OldNick's topic in The Saints
Like or not, Saints are in the biggest relegation fight for years and Jones faces the spectre of being remembered as the bloke who took us down. In these circumstances the chances of Academy players getting a run out are pretty much zero. Morgan should not get ahead of himself, yes he finds the net at B level regularly but the PL is miles above the level he is used to. The key to his situation like Ballard's and others is head down and work even harder, put in the graft and show the determination and grit that the manager wants to see from any player. There are no free passes to a place in a PL side or indeed any of the Football League clubs so if this young man has deluded himself into thinking that life will be easier and fairer at another club then he is in for a very big shock indeed. OK so none of us know the facts; it could be that he is not happy here for personal reasons and I am happy to give him the benefit of the doubt but otherwise he would be well advised to sign a contract and get on with the hard work. After all what can he lose by staying here for a couple of years. -
He wasn't OK on Saturday, he was lazy, disinterested and ball watcher in chief. I kept an eye on him throughout the match, not once was he proactive on the ball or against the ball, he had no understanding or anticipation of the flow of the match, never created chances by making himself available with incisive runs into the box and rarely bothered to chase back when Villa were in possession. Even his attempts to put the Villa goalie under pressure were slow off the mark and half-hearted. All in all he was a passenger and if Jones-ey had enough bottle he would have hooked him at 30 minutes. If you were at the match and saw things differently then sobeit. I have no axe to grind against Adams but how much more patience with him is justified. Saint_clark's comment earlier may be relevant.

Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Facing Man City was an even more daunting task, how did that end? Remind me. -
…but Villa are not a big club so why would the ref be biased towards them?
-
It's just wishful thinking, we are not even playing the two new players that just arrived so why should anybody expect that more arrivals would be able to jump straight into the first team and make a huge impact.

After this unwittingly inept and disjointed performance it is hard to see where Saints go next. Despite the change of management and style any pattern of play remains indiscernible and elusive. Time surely is running out. It is true we have a few highly talented players but equally we continue to rely on too many journeymen stalwarts who have never convinced at this level. If today's performance was indicative of something near our best then relegation is a near certainty. The clamour for a new striker is a last desperate cry for help from fans who know but cannot come to terms with the fact that we are collectively as a management team and squad of players no longer good enough to stay in this division. I sensed today that this was our last chance saloon, we were put to the test and failed. From my seat in the Kingsland there was little to warm the chilly day and few of my colleagues looked anything other than thoroughly bewildered and dejected. Acceptance is replacing belief and that is proving to be a very painful transition

Obviously you didn’t go to the match

Surely it is not just me who fears that re-signing Inge would be an unmitigated morale sapping disaster. True, he had a purple patch while he was here briefly but that has not been replicated at Villa and he is now much older in football terms and less sharp and defenders have worked out his game. Apart from misplaced and naive sentiment for a player who really couldn't give a fishes tit about Southampton Football Club, for what other reason would we want to take on such a huge gamble and lumber ourselves with as sulking hulk of a player. He's gone, lock the door and good riddance!
