  1. We need to tread carefully with this guy, I know its only NI but if he isn't getting regular first team football at Saints he'll want out sooner or later especially if his performances begin to attract attention.
  2. It goes much deeper that that. Without Bellingham & Kane we are clueless and if either of these guys is injured next summer we can kiss goodbye to any hope of winning the trophy.
  3. One lesson life teaches you is that you only miss and value people when they are no longer with us.
  4. That's a fairly bold statement. The only similarities that I can see is that he is English and has played for Man City. Suppose he turns out to be as good as you hope, do you think seriously that City would let him go?
  5. I cycled to the Walton & Hersham match but admittedly not from here. Was at Uni at the time. Etched in my memory.
  6. Isn't Lionel Messi 36 or 37, doesn't seem to be past it just yet.
  7. Frankly this is a load of conspiratorial tosh.
  8. Not at all romantic. Why would he be here if the powers that be hadn't thought it through and concluded that he might be able to help us. If he's fit enough and fast enough he'll be good enough for this Division. Premier League it is not.
  9. Having Maya back around the place has cheered me up no end. I absolutely love the guy, no if's no but's for me he is a Saints legend. Would be amazing if he was fit enough and fast enough to play again. Always thought he might come back one day as a coach. He seems to get on well with Saint Russ which can't be a bad thing. A bit of Japanese Kando is needed here.
  10. The quicker we invent time travel the better then all these people obsessed with predictive stats can nip into the future for five minutes and find out what really happened. For me the excitement and expectation of not knowing is the whole point of watching.
  11. Nothing wrong with Huddersfield, huge amount of money being invested there in new infrastructure and commercial buildings. A transformation of the town is underway similar to what we have seen in Southampton these past twenty years. Huddersfield becoming unrecognisable from the days of dark satanic mills. Not so grim up North as Southerners are led to believe. Not sure about the 'University' though. York it ain't!
  12. I was glad to see the back of him. He wasn't particularly creative in midfield yet for some reason recent managers seem to insist on a style of play that constantly fed the ball to him in every move forward. We ended up being relegated unsurprisingly. He's a million miles away from being good enough for the current England team.
  13. Leicester slipping but Ipswich look unstoppable. We'll probably have to beat WBA in the playoffs and on today's showing that's not a guaranteed win.
  14. Another Ricky Lambert or another Che Adams?
  15. With Preston winning last night this must be an essential win.
  16. We came back from a short holiday yesterday only to find three dead mice in our kitchen, so defo will not be allowed out tomorrow to see the match!
  17. Starting this thread
  18. I must have missed something, why will Bednarek miss this game? Suspension or injury? He looked OK at The Den, a bit slow and hesitant but physically OK.
  19. Utterly bizarre. Of course most people want us back in the PL otherwise why would we be getting the reactions on here that we do every time a point is dropped.
  20. The only testimonial we have seen in recent years was for Kelvin Davis a few year ago when dear old Nigel returned for one last hurrah! Testimonials have become irrelevant as rewards in the business have soared and club loyalty under valued.
  21. The home grown element is important too and Russell Martin has acknowledge that previously. The lad is an intelligent footballer and can only get better, he could be our next Academy success story.
  22. I have a feeling that the fans reactions to Smallbone are similar to those when Ward Prowse became a regular in the team. Even then many people including me thought he was out of his depth and would never become a decent PL player. I well remember the groans that erupted from the Itchen when his name was read out as a starter. He made it, we were wrong and the rest as they say is history. I thought he played really well yesterday, there's a player in there somewhere waiting to burst forth.
  23. It was far more than that. We played them off the park by keeping possession so well and attacking in strength from all directions. We could have beaten anybody today including the Foxes.
  24. Nothing positive to say then?
