  1. Maybe we should have a fiver on it. I'm not understanding what your optimism is based on even if it is to be applauded. For a start we have no idea which players will be here to start the season, whether by retention or through incoming transfers. Secondly the new manager may or may not be any better than the last four and will have had only a few weeks to decide who best fits his style of play and meld them into an effective working unit. Thirdly it is always a supreme folly to underrate or dismiss all opponents as inadequate or worthless. I am confident that you had taken all these factors into account when forming your considered judgement but my assessment of the hard realities of our situation has led me to a different conclusion. We will struggle in the first third of the season and are unlikely to be in the top six at Christmas.
  2. If we were that good, we'd still be in the PL. You might be in for a nasty surprise.
  3. Why is he modelling the new kit if he's off
  4. I'm used to dining at the top table!
  5. Exactly what I thought as well, bloody depressing.
  6. Even the odd million quid is worth having and starts the tills ringing, a sound that surely will become quite familiar thus summer. Deadwood and no hopers out, money in what's not to like.
  7. We have to build a team that is good enough not only to stay in the PL but to challenge consistently for a top ten position there. We need a long term strategy for success not a quick fix knee jerk reaction to relegation that means possible success next year but abject failure and relegation in the following.
  8. At least BT offered the game free to one and all but they seem to be bottom of the pile when it comes to finding "experts" to analyse the game for viewers. Nothing wrong with Cesc Fabergas but he didn't get a look in with loud-mouth Ferdinand hogging the mic all evening (me, me, me). Having said that Jake Humphrey should have got a grip on the situation early on but failed miserably so good job he's off after last night's match. It wasn't a great match by any standards but Man City and Pep Guardiola deserved their success by playing intelligent and attractive football and sticking to those principles come what may. They really are an entertainment beacon in a League that is becoming ever more grey and murky. We are watching one of the best footballing sides ever assembled and should enjoy the spectacle while it lasts. Of course they have heaps of money and some of the best players in the world but success like this must be earned so all credit to Pep and his coaching team for their fine achievement. Nor should we overlook the fact that four of their star players are English, would those four have enjoyed similar success elsewhere?
  9. Frankly, what a daft and irrelevent comment to make
  10. You've crossed that line again.
  11. What's a towel and what is not a towel? Wait for the legal battles ahead. Are they allowed to wipe the ball on their shirts or shorts? Just asking…...
  12. Point well made.
  13. When we get the chance to offload dross from the playing staff like Smallbone why do we always end up offering them a new contract instead? If Stoke want him let him go for free and get him off the wage bill.
  14. I've posted something like this before but the sensible thing for the club to do with Tella is put him out on loan again to Burnley for another season and then if we get promoted at the first time of asking, recall him for the 24/25 season. What's not to like? If he flops in the PL than sell him next summer.
  15. I am especially looking forward to the visit of Bashley
  16. What is there to say that's at all interesting about a well below average football team in a bit of a mess managerially and on the pitch.
  17. I must express some surprise that the club have made no announcements on Selles leaving or Martin being appointed. Asceptic might see this heading pin only one direction. Actually I would be quite happy to give Selles another season especially at this lower level to allow him to develop as a manager and in my view there is every chance he might succeed and get us back to the PL at the first attempt. This is no more optimistic than expecting Swansea's manager to be Pep Light.
  18. We could do a lot worse than re-signing Toby. Surely he would be interested in a return now his PL playing days are behind him.
  19. They can play in the nude as far as I am concerned provided that they work out how to score more goals than their opponents
  20. Semmens was committed to the financial sustainability of SFC but failed to focus on the sustainability of playing football in the PL. Many of us pointed this endlessly out a few years ago. He deserves to go for that alone. Especially during the years of Hasenhüttl, Semmens and Steele there was a whiff of comfortable complacency emanating from the board room. Hopefully these b*ggers will have to work a bit harder for their living from now on.
  21. Defo new contract on the table tomorrow
  22. Think it could well be a case of two fingers up ✌️✌️✌️ at we fans as a departing shot from Selles. All our pet hates get to start, what's not to like! Sorry beatlesaint, I didn't see your post before I wrote this. Great minds eh!?
  23. Good job we grabbed Adams and Armstrong when we did then before anybody else got a sniff.
  24. I hope this is a wind-up but if not then b*llocks to Semmens and Anderson and anybody else who had a finger in this particular pie. That's me done and dusted with your whole bloody excuse for a football club. Still that's one thing to strike off my "to do" list. Great start to uniting the fanbase. Typical Saints whoever happens to be running the show. FFS
