Pretty delusional in today's press conference. A man under pressure for sure. Surely he doesn't really believe that his team can still escape relegation? Three points tomorrow will mean bugger all, we are down and out and the coffin gets its last coat of varnish in the morning.

How dare you come on here and post common sense!

The quality of football in the PL is not the same though is it?
-
Sod off, most of us love them.

was useless against WHU

I suspect he is using them as impact players for a reason, bringing them on when the opposition has tired legs. Real trouble is these players are not making an impact.

it all started with sackings of Watson & Davis from the coaching staff. Think about it and the timings of when they left. We've looked totally incompetent ever since.

Interesting. Puts everything into context really. Players actually wanting to stay to see out their contracts will be a new experience for Saints.

We already have a manager who will stay with us in the Championship for at least the first year so all of the above speculation comes down to the difficulty our fan base has of dealing with reality. If we fail to bounce back then and only then will Selles get the boot. Let the man have his chance of clearing out the players he doesn't want and recruiting one or two of his own. At the moment all he has had to work with are other people's ideas of good players and look how that has turned out.

Quite! One had the impression today that not a single Saints player gave a toss whether we won or lost. Going down without fight or passion is a disgrace but many of them know they will be off to other PL clubs so it doesn't really affect them at all. Still it gave Armstrong & Ward Prowse the opportunities to perfect their breathtaking skills of stopping the play dead in its tracks and passing safely backwards to a central defender. We must be as good as anybody in the league at these forgotten skills.

Depends where you're shopping, John Lewis or Matalan. We seem to be obsessed with Matalan.

Shame on you, true Saints fans will watch the team through thick and thin. I'll be watching as always with hope and expectation and paying £12 for the privilege so that I don't miss a second. It may well be the familiar journey from hope to disappointment and despair but this has been my team for more years than I care to publish so why would I turn my back on them now. Nobody ever promised that life should be easy, always rose tinted and a source of eternal happiness.

If we survive, will it be our greatest escape?
Charlie Wayman replied to SNSUN's topic in The Saints
Of course not, the game was up long ago. The late flourish flatters to deceive. Nobody wants to be relegated so everyone will be fighting like dogs to stay up. Matches from now on will be pretty scrappy affairs severely limiting flair players and focused very much on deep defence so to give nothing away. Of all the nine teams scrapping for survival it can be argued that Saints are the most ill equipped to deal with the messy reality of the run in. It will be physical Jim but not as we know it. We'll probably beat the Gunners though if they give us time and space. -
Best to wait until it has stopped, otherwise you'll be head butting a brick wall.

We need six wins! This is one of the winnable games, we must win it.

Not done much for Palace. Madness to take a risk on him.
-
Surely your not recommending our players' adopt a Channon mullet?
-
You have listed about ten players that in your opinion might leave in the summer. Doesn't that rather contradict your opening remarks?
-
Not sure a relegation on his CV makes him that special.

Let's hope we are no longer a selling club. If we stay up he should stay for another year. He is not the finished article yet. Then we can discuss a swap with Rashford plus some cash.

Swallows swoop, crows peck at scraps.

One man's meat….. No way he'll get match time here.
-
He did though and scored a beaut!

It would be very surprising if the club recruited any new players this summer. Apart from the uncertainty about where we will be playing football next season, we already have a bloated squad that needs thinning out and several promising young players out on loan who could be recalled and be useful for us. There is also the need to consolidate the new players of the last two windows into a cohesive whole. Most of Selles' time this summer will be taken up wrestling with these problems - who stays, who goes - getting fringe players off the books. By the end of the year, he'll have a much better idea of his best squad and where any weaknesses might lie so the January window is probably the next time we will need or be prepared to splash yet more cash.

Quite right. First and foremost the on-pitch referee is in charge of the match in real time; the VAR refs should avoid the temptation of interfering or nit picking their decisions at every opportunity. It might be better for the on-pitch referee to be the person who initiates a VAR enquiry, if for example they are genuinely 50/50 on a decision. The idea of a Big Brother constantly looking over their shoulders surely can do nothing for the morale of referees. Otherwise let the refs decisions stand. I agree, the nonsense of drawing lines 0.5mm apart to decide that an attacker is offside by a toenail is a complete nonsense and is ruining the game. I was also impressed by the common sense admission that refs usually can tell the seriousness of an incident by the collective responses of players.
