Bit of a dilemma for the Club, do they keep him in the first team squad mostly on the bench or give him another year in the B Team to sharpen his skills with regular football. I'd go for the latter personally, he has a lot to learn yet.

Shame only 7.5k turned up at St Mary's on such a beautiful day. Very entertaining football and a million miles away from Tuesday clogfest that was AFCB. Great to see Jordie Classie again and brilliant reception for the lad. Obviously a training exercise and part of the process for both teams but our weaknesses were exposed yet again. We do not move the ball around quickly enough and we do not seem to want to play on the front foot with proactive movement. Far too often we react to play rather than shape the play the way we want it. I lost count of the number of times our players passed to a teammate then stopped running rather than run into a space on the pitch to anticipate and receive the next pass. This is why every promising move breaks down before the ball is moved onto the attacking line. A few takes from the match; KWP is infinitely more effective on the left than the right and probably better in midfield than full back. Manning is not ready to be a starter and is not an improvement on Perraud. Stephens is a poor reader of the game and ponderously slow. Adams can't help being Adams. Surely no PL club will come in for him on this form despite the rumours. He's going to be hard to shift out the door. Lyanco's passing is improving and he actually had a decent match. Good to see Bazunu back again and looking confident. I like his athleticism. He will. be a great keeper one day.

Probably too subtle for you to understand.

Are you seriously advocating and condoning violence on the football pitch?

I don't know how bright or sensitive the Tella lad is but an offer of only £9m from a club that he did well for last year and purports to see him as a key figure in their future plans is such a personal insult that really it should be the end of any relationship he had or imagines he had with the northern club. If Saints value you at £20m, Nathan, it's not rocket science to work out who wants you most. Clear your head and see it for what it is.

What goes up must also come down. So who do you think will be coming down next May? My monies on Luton, Sheff U & Fulham with Palace just about surviving but it's a toss up between the two London clubs. Our wannaway players should bear this in mind 'cos we won't be offering them a lifeline if they pick the wrong club now.

Cheeky b*stards! Pay up or shut up!

I kinda see where you're coming from but as many point out on here if we don't let these high flying promising youngsters leave then raw talent like the two Sam's won't want to join us in the first place. It's a pity that we can't keep them here contractually for at least two years so that we get some benefit as a team from their stay. It's not all about money after all it is also about building a team that can give us success for years to come. It is reported that Lavia has not been pushing too hard for an early exit yet that is exactly what is happening. So one is bound to ask where was the benefit to Saints apart from cash of having him here in the first place? As you say he hasn't added much to the overall team performance and certainly didn't help us avoid relegation. He was a big part of the problem as a regular member of our inept midfield. On the other hand if he stayed for another season he might actually be back to playing in the PL with us and be part of our solution.

Mourinho is the sole reason we got Kyle here in the first place after the special one insulted him about his surname if you recall
-
Often I find myself agreeing with your observations and James Bree is a case in point. Another invisible showing from him last night suggests that he has little to no future here and being subbed off at HT when most were not more or less confirms that Martin & Co have much the same feelings about him. Poor lad came here at exactly the wrong time and it would be kinder all round to release him from his contract and let him leave on a free to find a new home and new start.

Bearing in mind this was supposed to be a friendly, Bournemouth's physicality was often borderline legal and sometimes arguably criminal; we were extremely lucky to have survived without a serious injury. Their right backs unnecessary assaults on Edozie deserved punishment early on from the ref but he meekly let things carry on. It's a tribute to our youngster that he just kept picking himself up from the floor and carried on without any hint of retaliation or unwillingness to resume the battle👏👏 👏 The other thing of note from the evening was the mind boggling stupidity of the fool who decided that closing Mountbatten Way to traffic on a match night before the game had ended was good idea, when obviously thousand of cars coming in from the West had to make their way home. Presumably some people were still trying to get out of the jams at midnight! As for the match itself, miles in the legs, quite entertaining and many learning points exposed before we are anywhere near the finished article. As for individuals, couldn't understand why Lavia wasn't part of the "main" team fielded in the second half? Irrespective of whether he is going or staying, if you're going to play him at all then play him in a meaningful formation, not amongst the stiffs. I get sick of the verbal abuse of Gavin Bazunu on this forum and one could quite understand why the young lad might have his head all over the place if any of that abuse comes to his notice but honestly if any of his poisoness detractors thinks that MacCarthy is a better alternative then they should surely have got their answer in spades last night. A more appalling display of incompetence and ineptitude would be hard to imagine. What else is there to say about Adams that has not been said already? His lack of effort and involvement will not have endeared him to potential suitors who were likely at St Mary's casting an eye over him. Perish the thought that he doesn't move on and we get stuck with him. 😒

Well if its true only 5000 tickets have been sold for tonight's match and I happen to be one of them, you work it out about loyalties. Anyway, I have a sneaky feeling that you'll be there tonight despite your earlier comment.😉
-
….and you call yourself a fan? Get off your arse and get up there tomorrow night and sod the Cherries fans.
-
It's a lot cheaper than the match day ticket at £15 so what the hell are you moaning about? The meanness of some of our supporters beggars belief
-
Are you kidding? He will stay no doubt about that and will be a superb player for us. Head and shoulders above anybody else we've got and with the right coaching will be a world class CB. Come on if you had to choose between Stephens & Salisu, who would you choose if your livelihood depended on it.
-
Which is fantastic news. I will be ecstatic if KWP, Salisu, Lavia and Sulemana are still our players in September.
-
Blimey he does love to talk, I fell asleep after about ten minutes. I hope he said something useful but to me it just sounded like standard audience pleasing claptrap. Still results are always the best remedy for verbal diarrhoea. The stand out was the reference to Romeo (Lavia) playing alongside Charles…… hmmm…. interesting.
-
Not really, he was affected by the sheer incompetence that surrounded him and no you can't blame KWP for our plight as you imply

Sheffield Weds 1-2 Saints - Match Thread

Not helped by the fact that nobody has a clue which eleven players will still be on our books to start the match. Dean Hammond is still pretty keen on Saints, maybe we can get him up to match fitness in time? -
That's what scares the bejeebies out of me, that we lose Livramento & KWP, now that would be a serious blow. Most of us probably think one or the other to go but not both. Surely we can't let everyone leave? Bree is awful from what we have seen so far. A backline of Bree, Bednarek, Stephens, Manning is the stuff of nightmares.

Ibrahima Diallo - Official: Signs for Al Duhail
Charlie Wayman replied to TWar's topic in The Saints
Everyone off to Saudi Arabia. How long before their league surpasses the Premier League as the "best league in the world". The way it's going it will be awash with money against which Sky might find it impossible to compete. At the moment only second rate players are going their often at the end of their careers but momentum is building and once a few world class stars go there it may be game over for the European leagues. -

You said that for the clicks! -
More importantly it suggests that SR are sticking to their guns on valuations and will be just as happy to keep the players they want to keep. Could explain also why interest in our star players is waning at least in the sense that there are few rumours about imminent departures at the moment. The pick-up on this might be that under SR the word is out that we are not a selling club. Don't be surprised if JWP, Sailsu and JWP remain Saints players for this season. Being stuck with Stephens & Adam Armstrong is though a real cause for concern.

My day would not be the same without a visit to this thread to read the daily slagging off of Gavin Bazanu. I expect he enjoys reading it a s well. Keep it up lads
-
…and so say all of us but it won't be easy to move on players on lengthy contracts who have no offers from elsewhere. We can't just pay off those contracts. Incidentally has anyone else noticed all the arms around shoulders love-ins going on with Prowsey, Sailsu and the coaching staff? Is that the beginning of the new process and Wilcox making sure everything possible is being done to persuade these two lads to stay?
