The quicker we invent time travel the better then all these people obsessed with predictive stats can nip into the future for five minutes and find out what really happened. For me the excitement and expectation of not knowing is the whole point of watching.

Huddersfield 1-1 Saints - Match Thread
Charlie Wayman replied to Yorkshire Saint's topic in The Saints
Nothing wrong with Huddersfield, huge amount of money being invested there in new infrastructure and commercial buildings. A transformation of the town is underway similar to what we have seen in Southampton these past twenty years. Huddersfield becoming unrecognisable from the days of dark satanic mills. Not so grim up North as Southerners are led to believe. Not sure about the 'University' though. York it ain't! -
I was glad to see the back of him. He wasn't particularly creative in midfield yet for some reason recent managers seem to insist on a style of play that constantly fed the ball to him in every move forward. We ended up being relegated unsurprisingly. He's a million miles away from being good enough for the current England team.

Leicester slipping but Ipswich look unstoppable. We'll probably have to beat WBA in the playoffs and on today's showing that's not a guaranteed win.
-
Another Ricky Lambert or another Che Adams?
-
With Preston winning last night this must be an essential win.

We came back from a short holiday yesterday only to find three dead mice in our kitchen, so defo will not be allowed out tomorrow to see the match!

I must have missed something, why will Bednarek miss this game? Suspension or injury? He looked OK at The Den, a bit slow and hesitant but physically OK.
-
Utterly bizarre. Of course most people want us back in the PL otherwise why would we be getting the reactions on here that we do every time a point is dropped.
-
The only testimonial we have seen in recent years was for Kelvin Davis a few year ago when dear old Nigel returned for one last hurrah! Testimonials have become irrelevant as rewards in the business have soared and club loyalty under valued.
-
The home grown element is important too and Russell Martin has acknowledge that previously. The lad is an intelligent footballer and can only get better, he could be our next Academy success story.
-
I have a feeling that the fans reactions to Smallbone are similar to those when Ward Prowse became a regular in the team. Even then many people including me thought he was out of his depth and would never become a decent PL player. I well remember the groans that erupted from the Itchen when his name was read out as a starter. He made it, we were wrong and the rest as they say is history. I thought he played really well yesterday, there's a player in there somewhere waiting to burst forth.
-
It was far more than that. We played them off the park by keeping possession so well and attacking in strength from all directions. We could have beaten anybody today including the Foxes.
-
Nothing positive to say then?
-
That's more like it, I like what I have seen today. Well done Russell Martin. No weaknesses in the team for once and Bree is beginning to look good at LB. Should keep his place.
-
We don't have clue when we do have it either.

Good summary and key questions. I don't think he knows where we go from here. His limitations are becoming more obvious by the match. Those expecting a sudden and dramatic transformation will be disappointed. Martin is no more than an average Championship manager and his single-mindedness is a severe handicap to further progression. Sooner or later the penny will drop with SR but their dilemma is how many more gambles can they make on relative unknowns if they decide to replace him.
-
You know when we are in trouble, fans hoping for Manning & Stevens to be back. Please no more James Bree or Mason Holgate. Would be good to see Russell Martin on the bench for once rather than as a starter, don't think he really deserve his place on the touchline at the moment. Can't say I'm particularly excited about going especially with the early start, more a labour of love than anything else but it is what it is and sadly this is how it is and forever will be for now. Still worth going just to see Wayne Rooney in action.

Speaks volumes.

What a load of rubbish,
-
More or less agree with that. Effective as he is at LB it is still unsettling for him and the players around him to keep chopping and changing. It's not all about individual ability it's equally important or even more so to have effective partnerships with the players around him.

Many thanks. Appreciate your help.

Grateful if somebody could clarify the Sky Sports coverage tomorrow night. Normally I watch on NowTV, will this be possible this time?

Good result, now for a bit more consistency. Mind you we should have been out of sight long before the final whistle.
