Why don't they adapt by training on muddy pitches instead of effing Astro Turf or whatever other synthetic concoction they us up at Staplewood for "pitch perfect" For Heavens sake man train on Millbrook Rec or somewhere similar after a heavy weekend of use for pub league matches to get the effect you need... you don't need an 'O' level in nuclear effing physics to work that one out. Stop bleatin', start thinking, get training on Effing MUD!!!!

PS pay him £100k a week if that's what it takes......

Bugger! Nothing to grumble about... except, er the crowd. We really are rubbish at singing these days, with stuff like "There's only one Alan Pardew" etc. How very 80's is that? Come on lads lets have some real imaginative songs to match the brilliant performances. Just chanting "Ricky Lambert la, la, la" doesn't get to the heart of it, he and all the others deserve better form us!

Like any lad who's played well he was up for his hat-trick and of course didn't want to come off but Pards wants him fresh for Tuesday. Barnard is part of a team on a mission not the whole team and he needs to get that into his bonce!

The best Saints football display for years. Now banish the long ball for ever. Well done Pards and the lads. Do Huddersfield the same way and we'll start believing again.

Can you believe the crap that is coming out of SMS these days. According to The Echo tonight Pardew thinks we can still make the play-offs if we get 6 points in the next two home games and carry on winning. He's even got Hammond parroting his masters voice now with the extra emphasis that we've got "to win all our games" and we need 70-odd points usually to get inot the play-offs. Strewth! What ARE these people on? We told them to get their fingers out weeks ago when there was still a vague hope we might make it. Now there's no chance, they're hoping Cortese won't notice if they put up a big screen of b*llsh%t....

I am actually quite surprised that he is still here to be honest. Perhaps it isn't so easy after all to find a successor who is good enough, ambitious enough, high-profile enough and still willing to take a chance on his reputation in the Third Division... surely that can be the only reason? Try Curbishley next or maybe Sven?

Of course there will be tickets left over. Let's get real, no way 44000 are going to get sold except in their dreams.. If they are really lucky they'll shift 30k which ain't at all bad just to watch paint dry.

What is so special about this squad that we would want to keep it together? The way you talk one would think we are world beaters whereas we can't in reality beat Wycombe Effing Wan*ers... who the *!^* are they? Pardew has been quoted as building his team around Schneiderlin. Rather too well it seems.

I'll stick to being that miserable old sod who said "Told you so" weeks ago that anybody thinking the play-offs were even remotely possible after that bloody awful period just after Christmas were manically delusional. At ko last Saturday we had to win 16 of 18 to even have a sniff but it is no longer 15 from 16 as all our rival contenders for that 6th spot have pulled away from us tonight. If the penny has finally dropped expect a gradual fall off in interest from now on with samller gates and so on. Mr Cortese will not be a happy man to night, not a 'appy man at all and whilst it is unlikely that Alan Pardew will get his marching orders tomorrow it is not beyond the realms of possibility either. As there is nothing left to play for with 16 games to go there is more than enough time to bed in a new manager ready for next season so that he can sort out the squad and bring in one or two of his own....

I hope that is not indicative of a 'late nights & booze' culture developing amongst our players. It's too much to expect that they'd be at home and tucked up in bed reading Tolstoy's "War & Peace" by 10.30pm but if they are 'good lads' only because they have little imagination other than to hang out in pubs in the evenings then it doesn't bode well for a long-term healthy team ethic, which will be needed to keep these boys together and ensure we get back to the promised land soon.

I went up to SMS at 7.30 this morning along with many other fans only to be told to bugger off as they weren't selling tickets from the windows only on-line which of course never effing works and isn't toady and you can't phone in 'cos that doesn'r effing work either etc, you know the rest. Why the EFF don't they tell us these things i plenty of time rather than changing arrangements at the last minute so Effing everyone about. I tell you there werte some might ****ed off fans up there and nobody told the BEEB either as they wee up there with us... Sort the Effing Mess out Saints for Eff's sake!!!

This is all tosh as we need to win 16 of the last 18 and pray that Millwall or Huddersfield don't do any better than they are now. Even at their current points per game rate we'll need 81 points at least to get to 6th and as I said if either of thse teams comes into form it's over... So, it's over now isn't it, would you bet your house on 16 from 18? Of course not, delusional you may be for all things red & white but you probably ain't stupid.

How odd! He was in West Quay about three weeks ago hanging around outside John Lewis presumably doing what we all do, trun up to meet our shopaholic other half's at the agreed hour.. You know 35 minutes, late no sign of... He's an ordinary bloke for all that..

I watched the first half and put the whole thing on disc for posterity. What you gain is replays of the near goal incidents. Thomas & Waigo (2) should be stretched and flogged for missing easy sitters through it has to be said naivity. They didn't have enough skill to see the chance and convert it all i the blink of an eye which is what better class footballers would do instinctively. Not something you can teach.... If we'd had a Michael Owen we'd have been 3-0 up at least.

I go to every game and Tim has got it more or less spot-on. We are a 70 min side by which time the old 'uns are finished and the young 'uns are knackered. That is more or less all there is to say about this year's team. All the comments about Lambert seem fair, just what is AP up to? The one free kick he didn't take on Saturday ended up being headed into the net by RL. AP most definitely has got that wrong as indeed he has leaving James on the bench and playing Antonio & Waigo together. So AP is far from perfect and Saints are far from the finished article. As far as the rest of this season is concerned, forget it! Our season ends at Wembley. The league is now dead. Sixth placed team will now need at least 80 points to be sure of the play-offs. We have 34 points with 18 games to go; we need to collect another 46 points minimum from 54 which means we have to win 16 of 18 and even then might miss out! Ask yourself if you'd wager even £100 on that one let alone your house? Just relax, look forward to next year, go shopping of a Saturday afternoon for the sake of peace and harmony if you have to and watch the situations vacant board for a new football manager. At least we won't need to listen to Dave Merrington anymore this year so there is a silver lining....

Well, put it this way, 1.Nobody in the CCC or L1 can pay him more than us 2.13 teams in the BPL cannot offer him the prospect of medals 3.The other seven ManU, Chelsea, Arsenal, L'pool, Villa, ManC & Spurs don't need him as they already have better people 4. He'll never be in the frame for Engerland If he's happy here under Alan Pardew what is there to move for? He's first on the taemsheet every week, never gets subbed, we are on our way up - not this year obviously - but next. I think faced with all of that he might sta. I know those pr**ks at ITV are trying to undermine our success already - no doubt you heard yesterday's comment about Rickie lambert? "The BIG clubs are beginning to show some interest in RL" The Big clubs !!!! WTFITAA!!! Big Clubs? We are a BIG club down on its luck, they mean clubs in a higher league. Somehow I doubt Rickie Lambert is the sort of bloke to have his head turned by the many block-brained managers that plague the higher leagues.

Capello's deputy and Brooking were in the director's box today presumably looking at Calamity. I guess he did well enough. They left before Ricky scored so it looks like he's not in the frame even on 24 goals.

Our lads must understand that a game of football lasts 90 minutes not 75 and they need to train harder to stay fit physically and more importantly mentally for the full 90. They gave their all for sure but ending up knackered at 75 minutes and not being able to run with their opponents is downright criminal. Mind you with a back four whom will soon be eligible for their state pensions we were always likely to end up with egg on our faces against Pompey's lightning strike force. On the whole Pardew gets it about right in his post-match piece but we can't get too relaxed as Pompey are the worst team in the Prem by far and really only of mid-table CCC standard. If we had serious aspirations for the CCC next year - which I have always doubted - then this demonstartion of last-ditch rugged determination rather than skilful ball-play surely underlines that such aspirations are fanciful. The back four today were unpardonably awful, they got away with it for 60 minutes only because Lallana, Hammond & Schneiderlin bossed the middle of the park so not letting Pompey get their act together. Once that trio were knackered the back four were overwhelmed and their limitations cruelly exposed. Thank goodness it's only our reserve back four these days. Otherwise, trust An-bloody-tonio to forget to turn up for the ONE match that really matters most to us lot. We might have done better with 11 but there you go!
