  1. I'll have 3kg of that variety please!
  2. Morgan Schneiderlin played for Saints... savour those words and that thought! Today in the second half we lucky 22000 witnessed the coming of age of a new world star. One day we'll look back in fond remembrance of today and say "I was there!" "How good was he Dad?" you young 'uns will be asked... "Oh! Son, I cannot begin to explain"
  3. I'd like to think 7-1 is possible but we certainly won't lose by 7.
  4. You must be kidding! You need to be looking elsewhere for a make-weight for Chaplow. Schneiderlin was immense on Tuesday - if only he could resist the odd feet-up through-the-back sliding tackle and his prone-ness to red cards! Hammond is now the weakest link on ability alone, yes he's got a great engine and yes he's built like a brick sh*thouse but he's very one dimensional in his thinking, more like a guard dog than a creative midfielder who can change games. Chaplow may well be better than Hammond but even then the jury is still out. As for Chaplow v Schneiderlin, come off it it's like comparing Tesco's house red to a Grand Cru Montrachet...
  5. Eff Me! Chaplow must think all his Christmasses have come on the same day if he really has landed a 2 1/2 year contract. Not even his mother wants him back home! I'll bet he's chuffed being valued at £50k even Eastleigh could afford that, where he'll likely end up on loan.
  6. As I understand the situation, Chamberlayne Senior insisted on AOC doing his apprenticeship at Saints because of the reputation built by our academy over the years as being one of the best if not THE best training situation for bringing on young talent. If true then it is unlikely that WE found AOC as a prospect for the future, so we would have few rights as such and probably loyalty to Saints is not an issue. We may have to accept that he was placed here in much the same way as a really bright kid gets placed at Oxford. Then the only question to consider is "When is his apprenticeship over?" It could be one season or two to really turn his learning skills into practical realisation. When does a trainee pilot get his wings - of course he has to fly solo more than once? When that time is up - 'we used to call it standing by Nellie' - and the boy is indeed a man, then he'll have no compunction about leaving his alma mater in much the same way as when most people graduating from Uni. never look back, only a very few dullards stay on etc. Then the whole question of loyalty and fee is tested because in such a scenario why would we expect any fee at all except that to cover the cost of training him - so £250K is about all we could hope to get for that? In short. He ain't a Saint and is not ours to sell! People need to understand the independent nature of the Academy and its role and the fact that it will be only the boys that WE discover for whom we could expect to extract a decent transfer fee. I think AOC will stay for one more season after this and then be off if his progress is maintained but even then it will not be for a big fee if he has not signed a big money contract. My guess is his present contract is along the lines of two years further education plus an agreed release fee at the end, reflecting as I said before the cost of being trained by us.
  7. Didn't see that one coming! After the first ten minutes it looked like we'd be savaged. By no means one of our best performances, the defence was lamentable in the first half. You talk about unexpected results, this has to be one of the best ever, what a turnaround. How many times have we outclassed the oppos and drawn or lost - this time they even bettered us first half and yet still we won. Maybe the miracle that clinches our season, that is as long as we get a 6-0 on Saturday
  8. Of course everyone in the PL is looking for English talent as FIFA rules will soon require a minimum number in their squads. AOC is such a talent so everyone is envious but also he is no fool and will want at least two more years at SMS to become a real footballer instead of a one-trick circus pony. The rest as they say is up to Saints, get into the PL and all will be well.
  9. Very well put Jonny, many may have thought the same but only you could find the words! Out here we're automatically stuffed if it snows, the council don't even bother to clear our local minor roads so we'll all be house-bound again 'til it thaws. What's worse is we don't have Sky so no footie anywhere
  10. I've just looked at the traffic cams on the Walsall by-pass, and whilst there's a small amount of snow on the verges of the M6 the road is clear and flowing easily so it may not be as bad up there as we might have feared. Anyway keep checking for yourselves on here http://www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews/birmingham/trafficcameras/
  11. Hang on a jolly minute, we were reliably informed on here by the ITKs that Fonte & pardew had almost come to blows and Fonte said he'd walk if Pardew stayed. ITKs need to get the twist out of their braces!
  12. I fear you may be nearer to the truth than you realise. Adders is now in the brown stuff and he knows it, maybe not much deeper than up to his knees but even that is difficult to escape from. Predictably he will become more and more agitated as points keep getting lost and Snr Cortese asks for an explanation on Monday mornings. The more he squirms the more he'll start acting rashly and of course the deeper his boots will sink. People under extreme pressure always resort to panic decisions in the vain hope that one miraculous act will create "the breakthrough" that he vainly seeks and all will be well. Except that blind guesses under pressure never work. So, where this is leading is that the one thing he knows well is the reliability of players at S****horpe, the one remaining lifebuoy that might just might keep him afloat and for sure if things get that bad you can guarantee he'll clutch at it... So why would Second Division Scunny folk want to join Third Division S'amton...? Your guess is as good as mine, maybe if they think they'll be down here again soon enough that may be a spur plus a bit more of the folding stuff in this recession will always come in handy but heck ManC we ain't so it's never going to amount to more than a few quid after tax, NI alimony and iPads for the nippers. But who have they got that anybody's ever heard of... somehow, "We've got Sam Togwell" doesn't have that ring of allure about it or indeed will put the ****e up our rivals! No disrespect Sam
  13. Nah!
  14. Anybody who heard David Ginola's comments on MotD2 of Bale will recognise instantly the predicament that Rick Lmabert is in. He has been totally unable to vary his play enough in the face of th evry close marking that is now de rigeur for all oppo defences as a result of Rick's free-scoring habit last season. He has been rumbled and as time passes it seems more and more obvious he has nowhere to go, it's either career over OR he gets his head in as a solid old-fashioned No 9 and use his brawn and power to crunch oppo CBs and yep! it's gonna cost him a few front teeth in the process but he'll also grab a few. It's no recipe for a 40 goal season and if he gets only 10 all year it's still a good call, but right now the way he's playing he's going nowhere.
  15. He really owes us big time this week after dropping one almighty socking bollock at the weekend! Kelvin we need you to deliver not stand still and shiver!
  16. Andy you need to buy a tempura bed so that you can sleep better at nights. It ain't gonna happen! Stop worrying! For starters Lallana ain't that good, it's only us deprived fans who think he is 'cos he seems like the only half decent bloke we've got left. Secondly he has more off days than on days; far too much of his jinky mazy razzle-dazzle antics end up in comedy errors with him sat on his Rrse. He's no fool and realises he ain't gonna be automatic England21 quality anytime soon, which ensures he won't be guaranteed a starting place in a Premier League side. You only have to reflect on Drew (Who?) Surman at Wolve and Theo (Super-Sub) Walcott to realise that.
  17. No pardew 'though, he's got that long haired **** who keeps bangin' 'em in at Toon
  18. I think it's Lone striker but who knows with this Comic Cuts set-up, maybe OXO will get moved out on loan to Gooners to get some more experience before he is ready for Saints?
  19. I think it's more a question of "Where was plan effing A?" What was really depressing was that midway through the second half Adders resorted to Burley type arm gyrations that used to invite the observation from less respectful fans.. " Careful George, any faster and you'll get airborne!" Maybe that's what he was hoping.. "Listen guys, I'm a really great manager so get me out of here!" This is going to be one very long winter relieved now at least by speculation of who our next manager will be. Maybe MON is still waiting?
  20. Fed up! ****ed off! Narked! Angry! So, no different to usual. Don't you just love our Saints, so entirely predictable they never let you down - you knew this one one they'd blow it and blew it they did and with some lack of style. Oh well, it's sorted out the Huddersfield dilemma for me, stay and entertain the family or be entertained by the Saints - no brainer, any more turkey on that wish-bone?
  21. It's called a career move - have you never made one? he's probably spent too much time here already.
  22. The most obvious lasting memorial would be to name the Itchen stand after him "The Marcus Liebherr Stand" with a nice pic of him sketched out in white seats on the red seat background. He did more for this Club in one year than anybody has ever done - he saved Saints from extinction.
  23. What is your point? Pots & Kettles if you ask me. The BBC are no friends of ours whereas The Echo is so I know where my money's going. About time people stopped bashing the free press Echo, the BBC appear far from independent on most issues.
  24. Let me add a ray of sunshine for a moment on this otherwise very bleak story. Marcus Liebherr's legacy for to NC and the club may have amounted to a few million or a few tens of million quid but a finite and limited amount of money so to drive on into te premier League, NC already realises we will need a minimum of £50-100m. The shortfall isn't going to come from gate receipts unless the stadium is enlarged... Perhaps, NC is in the market for more investors to come on board and be partners in the venture. If the total value of the assets plus the legacy under NC's control was (say) £50m maybe he could expand the sharebase to allow investments of up to £49m and still retain control so that the Club ends up with a fighting fund of around £100m... Hence the Sun rumour could have been true in part and NC's alleged comments to staff would not be untrue - that part of the club is for sale but not the whole club and he NC would still retain control? Not the man U or Chelsea style of single family ownership but the Arsenal style collective ownership of like minded people? Discuss.. my further contribution to get off the whingeing old codger step and give all you suicidal types a reason for not jumping!
  25. I have a feeling that the "fit and proper person test" will be far more rigorously applied post the FIFA 2018 voting debacle. The FA and the FL will no doubt be feeling far more independent from now on to do things their way. Today's talk of Harry Redknapp taking over England seems to me to be a coded message saying foreigners may as well b*gger off, there are even rumours of Abromovich selling Chelsea as Russia summons home its entrepreneurs to deliver 2018. Of course, there might also be a mood abroad that the party in England is effectively over in which case many foreign owners might take flight at the first whiff of gunshot. Don't forget FIFA is a Swiss organisation and who is running Saints?
