To stay in Division 2 we'll need to spend even more indeed rather a lot, so if we do that it will be at the expense of Brighton, Huddersfield and lower order teams already up there who haven't got two halfpennies to rub together, so all the abuse will only get stronger next year. But the only success in football in 2011 is BOUGHT in hard cash - get used to it - get over it. I'd rather be a HAVE than a HAVE NOT right now!

I guess that's right, let's get up first and then appoint a manager who can get that quality back. I do sense that Adkins is struggling to instill his ideas on the team which is a very bad and potentially dangerous development, lose the dressing room and anarchy reigns. Your observation that the team has gone downhill since Pardew left may be enlightening to those who watch every week but see nothing wrong and cannot detect this gradual decline. My main worry now is that Hartlepool and Posh are really up for it so any slip and by us and we'll be meeting you again at Old Trafford. What happened to winning with a smile on our faces, Nige? I didn't see many fans smiling when they left they all looked effing relieved it was all over. Adkins is no longer in charge that's obvious, the players are just ignoring the idiot and his useless sidekick - it was only rare moments of genius from one or two of our lads that got us the points. To be honest I couldn't give a toss, having no wish to watch Portsmouth, Bournemouth or Brighton for a minute longer than is necessary to get to the PL. If you're going for collectivism just remember that Reading & Swindon are probably closer than Brighton although I can't be arsed to check that out either. Results are all that matter now. This was winning ugly according to Radio Solent. CU will claim "We wuz robbed!" but tough cookies, you win some you lose some. We're in the mix, no better than the other 5 certainly not as good as Brighton or good enough to win the league. We must beat Bournemouth now, absolutely no way back if we bottle it and sh*t I'm banking on the lads not ****ing it up on Tuesday night even before the Crunch at Dean Court. Of course it'll be a struggle next year if we make it but onwards and upwards. Today really must be D Day for Adkns and his cronies. D for DELIVER or it'll be "sorry to lose you but you really ahve to go" as the old WWI music hall song went! If we scrape a win he'll get a stay of execution and of course the longer that goes on the less likely it is that Nicola will fire him until all hope of promotion is gone. I happen to think that he'll get his marching orders anyway in the close season but Nicola is now in that very difficult time for decisions cut-and-run or hope-and-pray part 1 of the dream so near and yet so far away. Counter to what you may think, I don't dislike Adkins but it is becoming more evident week-by-week that he has only limited ideas on how to get the best from a team; "the next best thing since sliced beard" most certainly he is not. We need better and this team deserves better before they are too old to be effective anymore.

What if they beat us?

Why expect anything different to what we had on Tuesday night and up at Hartlepool last week. We are becoming mediocre under this mediocre manager. Nothing's changed since Tuesday, as you can tell from the OS that Adkins is living in Cloud Cuckoo Land with all his wishful thinking. Who do you think you are kidding Mr Adkins, your influence on this team is none! Same old sh*t will be served up and because Colchester are better than Walsall it's a dead cert 2-0 clobbering.

The only problem is it sh*t seems to happen only to Southampton. Meanwhile HMS Brighton and HMS Bournemouth are sailing off into the sunset... It's best not to be too philosophical about football, it is not a cerebral game.

I imagine this will be the end of the Adkins regime. Mr Cortese will not be a happy man, he wants promotion this year and Adkins seems ever more incapable of delivering it. No predictions but to deliver promotion now a new guy needs the games in hand and enough time to get things stabilised for the run-in so it has to be now before the match on Saturday and another disastrous result. If nothing changes and we lose again at Colchester it might be the end of it for this season and Adkins would surely not get another chance so ergo it seems entirely logical that he will be fired tomorrow provided that Corteses has a replacement up his sleeve. The remaining question is "Who?" It's no good handing over to Wilkins as he couldn't handle it last time and now all of the best candidates with the exception of Big Sam are in work and MON of course. Could we just cling to a glimmer of hope that one of those guys might take a chance on us? The alternative doesn't bear thinking abut, Cortese and the Liebherr family lose interest and sell up and we are well and truly b*ggered and stuck down here as an impoverished club with years of third division football to come.
