A tough game for us; Nigel is unusually and worryingly cautious meaning that he doesn't expects to win, hence the rhetoric about "whatever the result" "we carry on from there" etc. One hopes we can get at least a draw because to lose now after 10 or so consecutive wins would be a real body blow to our younger lads as at the moment they are probably beginning to feel invincible. A defeat could hammer their pride and belief and could lead to a loss of confidence resulting in a losing streak. If we lose our current momentum it might be a while before it can be picked up again. It is true that Leicester are off to a slow start and we know only too well how long it takes to make a solid fully functioning unit from a group of disparate players assembled quickly, so obviously our best chance is to get straight onto our pass and move game and dominate them from he off. We must not get bogged down in a physical long-ball kick-about as we did last Saturday when team skills are quickly negated but we must also recognise that this might be exactly the game that best suits Leicester at the moment. This is one I'll watch from behind the sofa. I fear our 100% record will go and best hope we can get a 0-0 or 1-1.

We are and so are Arsenal, let's hope they don't come after Jose!

Don't hold your breath especially as Cortese probably has not factored in automatic promotion for this season. We know he has a five year plan and wouldn't fancy Year 4 being relegation from the PL. Expect that this season he will be happy enough with consolidation despite our record start with a BIG push next season. No way this team would survive up top and Mr Cortese knows it. Nor are we Man City, so don't expect him to buy the NPC or PL titles.

Liam Fontaine - Update: Deal falls through
Charlie Wayman replied to St.Patrik's topic in The Saints
Thank goodness for that, after Dale Stephens (who?), Danny N'Guessan (who?), Jonathan Forte (who?) I'm not sure we are ready for another quality signing from our current scouting team what's that you say,wha about DeRidder (who?... OK, OK, but give it time!) -

This is a very special day indeed as everyone is just talking ******** all day long. Face up chaps, the window is closing fast and nobody else is coming here - at least nobody you've ever heard of. -
I think this also is ********, in fact it is ********!

I also think it's ********

Why do we bother? Even if Saints were top of the PL, BBC would still relegate us to the round-up slot and give us 35 secs maximum coverage. Some people there who clearly don't like us and never will. Just wait 'til we slip a bit, THEN we'll get coverage by the hour!!!!

It's way too soon to start believing such propaganda. As we saw yesterday, our players are struggling to stay the pace already - maybe we over train - whatever, the lads need to be super fit to keep playing the run and pass game at the high tempo that Adkins insist upon and that may not be physically possible. It was noticeable that Millwall kept going despite the heat with their more 'pedestrian' approach to the game. The lesson is obvious, if you want to stay energetic "KEEP THE BLOODY FOOTBALL'. Spending 70% of the game chasing after shadows will not win us anything. So, lessons to others? 'Yes' as long as we can deliver what our spasmodic excellence promises but 'no' if we fold easily as we did yesterday.

Saints V Millwall 1- 0 Post match chat!

That, my friends was a close call, far too close for comfort. I'm not sure we deserved to win but we did. Just hope the lads can recover in time for Saturday as we'll need to be at our best to even get a sniff at that lot -
Gooners will have to pay at least £15m now!

The defenders on the bus point the finger and go "you, you, you!" All day long

You are a sentimental old fool!

Oh No! Not him. Another player who has always been labelled as "having potential" but never having actually delivered it. Who can blame Moyes for wanting to shift him out the door. Now we are top, obvious to mention us in despatches as being interested then others will come sniffing around. A journeyman if ever there was one. Not for Saints thank you!
-
Which is exactly why he gets up my nose every match - always stating the bleedin' obvious. Dave, we can work that out for ourselves mate, try coming up with something that'll surprise us...

Barnsley V Saints 0-1 Post match Chat!
Charlie Wayman replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
We need to remember too that Barnsley are one of the favourites for relegation, which if turns out to be the case will set our performance in a more meaningful perspective. We looked really good against Torquay last week with the diamond formation after 60 mins, couldn't stop pinging it around; scored twice and should have had two more at least - so it wasn't a fluke at Barnsley but may say something about them and Torquay? -
Bit odd isn't it that Seaborne was in a gigantic effing sulk against Torquay and played crap football all evening - presumably jealous of Martin getting the nod v Leeds? Then he gets the pick for the Barnsley match... What goes on in this happy team with a common goal?

Barnsley V Saints 0-1 Post match Chat!
Charlie Wayman replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
I worry about Morgan Schneiderlin who will surely walk if he doesn't get a start soon. He was pure class against Torquay but got only a few minutes at Barnsley... Why? What's the problem? He is masterly on the ball as a receiver (from the back four - playing the ball out as Nigel wants it) and giver which is what you need in mid-field as well as spoilers such as Hammond. What do others think about this? Can we really afford to disaffect him and drive him out? FFS he's a French U21 international. -
He might be quite good but it's much too early to tell. He must stay up-beat even when we start losing.
-
Two wins, gentlemen. It's a bit early to start crowing yet. I hope it keeps going but **** happens

Dickson was woeful against Torquay on Tuesday and doesn't look anything like the player he did last year. Maybe he knew that we were in for a LB and being third choice is end of career stuff. Guess he'll be gone soon. It was obvious from the Tuesday game that both Butterfield and Seaborne are being left behind, can't see either of them getting a look-in except through default injuries to first choices. Aaron Martin gets better by the match so will be hard to displace although Richardson looks limited and we may need a good RB as well as this new LB. Hate the tattoos 'though didn't think we'd want that kind of person on out patch? Times they sure are a changin'

Selfish little turd, hope he ends up in their third team. At least we needed the money when Theo & Drew went.
