Well needless to say I do not agree with Dave Merrington and all those other self-deluders who think this result doesn't matter, of course it effing matters. We have to win every game now to be in with a shout of automatic promotion and as Dave himself would say "the last thing we want to do now is drop points at home"! Two dismal performances on the trot at a time when Hammers & Reading are winning everything with apparent ease is just totally unacceptable. We simply cannot rely on them to screw up just to save us and who really believes the Pompey points will be scrapped. If we are relying on such sender hopes we are up the effing creek good and proper. As Adkins is so fond fond of saying, "two games every week - but it's the same for everyone" and it IS! Why then were so many of our players knackered at HT? Frankly most of our guys played stinkers and Adam Lallana should hold his head in shame for missing sitters when it was easier to score than not. I don't buy Adam walks on water malarky, he should have come off at HT but Adkins is scared to touch him as usual. Taking Lee off was a travesty of mismanagement when he was by far our best player. If I were Adkins, I'd be feeling very uncomfortable this morning and keeping my head down at Staplewood waiting nervously for a phone-cal from the boss. Chappers isn't match fit yet so will not start as that tends to be the high intensity part of a match at SMS when top sides come at us straight out of the blocks. Since De Ridder is knackered and Guly never gets his anti-freeze warm in this climate it's got to be Puncheon to start and Chappers on at 65min. Lee for Sharp or Sharp for Lee. I think I'd start with Lee after his display on Tuesday and bring Sharp on later. Surprised that you think Hoover will start as it seems doubtful to me that he'll be ready. You're misleading us. This is not last year' league table it's PPG table and Forest who had played fewer games had the second highest PPG but were not 2nd in the league, they were 4th. Thus the top three at this time last year went up and the top two remained the top two. Maybe some hope then!

Fonte, Guly were crap, Martin was only slightly better than crap, Richardson was all at sea, Harding was embarrassing, Hammond was only half fit and clueless on the ball, Chaplow is miles away from fitness. Only Lallana distinguished himself, the rest you can parcel up and sell to the highest bidder if we get any. Of the subs, Lambo was as always Lambo what would we do without him and Reeves was immense, what a prospect - hope he stays loyal. Barnard, headless chicken - seems to go together. Overall Adkins sounded down and so he effing should be! Now he's blaming players which he's never done before. Has he lost the dressing room? Maybe we do have a good balanced team for mid-table in this division but we'd better get serious about team building if we really do want to be playing in a better league any time soon. If we can win this league without using him that's by far the best strategy as he will go back to Spurs in the summer whatever he achieves for us here. Fully integrated and starring in our side might be the worst outcome for Saints. We should use him only when the proverbial hits the big twisted blade but it's good to have him on the bench. My guess is he won't be on the bench when Chaplow is fully straining on the leash.

Better than expected from Saints and we did deserve the win but our lot seem to think putting the ball in the net was not part of the passing game - maybe if should stand somebody in the goal behind the line so they can pass to him. That way we get a goal and they won't know. Not so many positives from this one Adders, another 2 points dropped so that's only 12 from the last 11 league matches. H'mmh relegation form? I feel happier about Brum on Saturday now, still think it'll be incredibly difficult as Houghton has cleared out all the crappie old has-beens and got some fresh young talent playing the ball around, a bit like us. They're whacking everyone in sight at the moment so we really do have to watch out for that 5-0 thrashing that might end our season. I guess we must hope for another 1-1
