These sort of threads should not be dignified by response but many still take the bait every time. The Peter Principle also says "If you have nothing useful to say then keep your trap shut!" OP please take note; find another hobby like finishing your homework on time.

Lots of threads on Nigel Adkins but......
Charlie Wayman replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
You need to cut a bit of slack for supporters as well as managers. They/We have been to hell and back since 2004 far more downs than ups and yet a good number have stayed the course with the club, stayed loyal and paid their shilling. Now, after two all brief years of relative success they fear the wheels might be about to fall off again, so naturally they are apprehensive and understandably not persuaded by positive talk about a "better tomorrow's" and "corners being turned soon" especially after such a dismal start. It is not enough to say glibly we've had a tough start so everything will be all right soon, of course we've had a tough start it's a tough league and if we don't compete we'll be out of it. Maybe the players we have aren't good enough, maybe the coaches aren't good enough, maybe the manager isn't good enough, who knows the answer must be in there somewhere but unless the situation improves very soon of course fans will get edgy and anxious and start clutching at straws, there is nothing else they can do but share concerns. It's not that they want Nigel out , probably just the opposite in fact but in their desperation they just want any change that will turn things around. Unfortunately, manager's tend to be all too easily identifiable when things go right so ergo when things go wrong no prizes for guessing where the spotlight will fall first especially since changing players is not a short-term solution. Getting rid of Nigel isn't the solution either but don't blame fans for thinking it might be. He needs time and we need patience and let's hope Mr Cortese thinks this way because we are playing nice football and "the last thing we want now" (nod to Dave Merrington) is some bully buy, brain dead ex-pro shouting the odds about the benefits of hoof-ball. we have brillaint young teams coming through at 18 and 21 level playing the same way as the first team so we just need to stay up in the PL long enough for the plan to mature. I am certain Nigel can do that even if we end up 16th. -
Bugger me matey, you really must have a superb pair of pink specs to be that complacent. I'll have lots of what you're on. It must be just the other 30,000 of us who thought we looked second rate and prime candidates for the NPL next year if the coaches don't start taking the job seriously

We must learn to be champion divers as well if we are to survive. You can't beat this system so we'll have to join it. Give that wincy diva on "Strictly" a contract quick!

Very disappointing game but not surprising really when the starting line-up was revealed. Good to see Morgan back quickly from injury and he and Davis ran the show in the first half and it was essential that during that period of domination we should have made the game secure. We didn't of course, Saints being Saints so the inevitable happened. Jol moved things around at HT to stop our midfield domination by closing m down Morgan and Davis which more or less stopped the flow of our game. Predictable and yet we had no plan B to regain control. Last year we used the diamond to do that but not this year, why? Inevitably we defended deeper and deeper as a result of not being able to keep the football with people resort to long balls which just kept coming back. It was only a matter of time before they scored and we were dead lucky to get out of jail at the end. As for the subs, it was always going to be a problem with such a makeshift start XI and not much better on the bench. Taking Ricky off always seems to me to be a match-losing strategy. If Adkins is wanting to bring Guly on for his pace stick him on the wing for F's sake and either ditch Punch or lallana and surely the place for Chaps today was at RB replacing Jos who was out of sorts. Poor old Jos one of those days he couldn't do right for doing wrong. My guess is that the ball came at him so fast that he was on auto with no time to think and stuck a boot in with the intention of the ball ending back up the mid-field. He was just unlucky with that and all those with hindsight need to accept, what else could he have done in that split second? We lost two points today because of poor tactical awareness and our newly acquired inability to change our play around to suit the ebb and flow of the game and that is down to the coaches only, so sorry Nigel but this buck stops with you; you won't improve our defending by telling us how bad it is so get off your Rrse and do something about it - get better defensive coaching on-board fast of you'll go down before the ship.

How many tactical mistakes is Adkins allowed?
Charlie Wayman replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
What a stupid thread. Based on whose opinion exactly, yours? I think he might know a bit more about tactics than any of the critics on here -
If he's any good and good enough for the PL then Forest owe us big time with 4 of our players on their books. No wonder we play in the same colours as them.

One of the most embarrassing sights at SMs these days is watching 11 grown men behave like children in a junior school playground whilst the oppo's watch in utter disbelief and amazement. Why don't they cuddle in the privacy of their own homes if they're that way inclined. You can imagine what Roy Keane would have said idfaske dto join in " Eff off you effing *******!"

Crikey, Kelvin Davies really has fallen from grace in your eyes? I think he'll start at home on Saturday an no way will Chaps get the nod over JWP. He hasn't figured in six games so far so will not be match fit and at best will come on for 15 minutes towards the end.

Thanks for that. Schwarzer of course but no idea how to spell his name! he's even more frightening than Brad
-
Fulham are a good side playing well under Jol who is a total football man. This will be another very hard nut to crack. We never score against Brad Friedel either so that's it really. Beaten at our own game as we were by Arsenal & Everton. I fear 0-3 and for Adkins after this one. So, yes, 0-3 it will be and it hurts to say so.

Everton 3 - 1 Saints - Post Match Reaction
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
It's already quite apparent that our defensive coaching is second rate (sack the buggers) and we need desperately to find some replacements but from where? Abroad? Italy? Certainly the PL is not choc-a-bloc full of them which is why so many sides ship goals like shoals of mackerel. -

This is what happens when Morgan goes missing and we delude ourselves into thinking that Fonte is good enough for the PL. Looks like a long struggle as Villa and Wigan are only just above us and the only teams we looked capable of beating. Good thing is that Norwich look poor, QPR are a disorganised shambles and Reading are simply not good enough for this league so it could be a nail biter with (yet another - sigh!) great escape - - but we were promised better things by Cortese and he doubled the price of my ST on the back of that promise. -
And this is what happens when we don't have Morgan playing

Why pick on 75? I only met one in my whole life although isn't HRH Bonnie Price Charlie an Arthur? As you've never heard of it probably means you're a working class bloke unused to the choices of the upper crust. Just in case you hadn't spotted it they don't use Daren, Wayne or Adam to name their offspring....

Quite so. What a moronic puerile thread and to think we mix with these saddo's on Saturday's.

Frankly who gives a t.oss, it's the league cup and nobody gives a damn! Field the kids provided they can get off school.

I'm with your team selection. Why would Adders change anything, you simply don't change a winning team especially one coming off the back of a 4-1 thrashing of Villa and high on confidence. I do not agree with many of the pessimists. If the lads follow Adders creed, get the ball, pass the ball, hold the ball then why not 3-0 for Saints. If we choke off the supply to their strikers and Steve Davis and Morgan are terrific at this then it could be all on way traffic. Leeds have probably sown a seed or two of doubt and we need to get at tem and score early to frighten the **** out of the buggers.

Saints V Villa 4-1 Post match Chat!!
Charlie Wayman replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
This was the Fifth match of the season in case you didn't notice and the next four include Everton, Fulham and Spurs as well as Hammers at Upton Park. If we lose all four as well we might when will your season then really start? You do always talk the biggest load of ballacks* on this forum... -
Saints V Villa 4-1 Post match Chat!!
Charlie Wayman replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
Good result poses the question " why didn't we complete the new signings ii the pre-season so that we could work out our best team and hit the ground running?" With a bit of quality around them people like Morgan and Ads are beginning to look world class and it seems to have worked wonders on Steven Davies as well. Now we need to replace Fox who just looks more and more incompetent every match, can't find a pass, can't find the man he is supposed to be marking. Adkins got it dead right at HT and transformed the team. It's not so much Puncheon who should worry next, where is the way back for Lee/Chung and what is Rodrigues role up-front if Mayuka, Ramirez, Ads and Rickie click as the strike force? -
How do they 'trial' a goalie? I mean they either have nothing to do all day or pick six out of the back of the net through lousy defending. You can't set up either in training so how? Anyway the Toffees already have Tim Howard who seems to be top notch still so why would they need an old silver stopper to challenge him?

Arsenal 6 - 1 Saints - Post Match Reaction
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Actually it is not going to be a long season at all, 4 down only 34 left to play and about 5 of those certain defeats - you'll be amazed how quickly that goes when you're struggling so we need 42 points from 87. That's what I mean about a short season. -
Arsenal 6 - 1 Saints - Post Match Reaction

Worse than I'd hoped and frankly clueless in the first half. Yoshida and Ramirez will probably help but oh dear our limitations certainly were exposed. Sure we were better in the second half with a more conventional 4-4-2 but with that formation we had no penetration whatsoever and in any case Arsenal clearly eased up to save energy for Wednesday night. This doesn't auger well whichever way you mix it. Even if Ramirez turns out to be the signing of the century he won't be able to do it on his own. Our movement off the ball was slow, clumsy and predictable compared with Arsenal's. I hope this isn't the end for Davis and Lambert but they looked pretty poor today. If I was Nigel I'd be getting a bit worried about our overall quality but we have what we have until January and he'll have to do more than play containment football to win more than 1 point from games. Still, we've been here before and no doubt will be here again so it can't get any worse.
