  1. Well needless to say I do not agree with Dave Merrington and all those other self-deluders who think this result doesn't matter, of course it effing matters. We have to win every game now to be in with a shout of automatic promotion and as Dave himself would say "the last thing we want to do now is drop points at home"! Two dismal performances on the trot at a time when Hammers & Reading are winning everything with apparent ease is just totally unacceptable. We simply cannot rely on them to screw up just to save us and who really believes the Pompey points will be scrapped. If we are relying on such sender hopes we are up the effing creek good and proper. As Adkins is so fond fond of saying, "two games every week - but it's the same for everyone" and it IS! Why then were so many of our players knackered at HT? Frankly most of our guys played stinkers and Adam Lallana should hold his head in shame for missing sitters when it was easier to score than not. I don't buy Adam walks on water malarky, he should have come off at HT but Adkins is scared to touch him as usual. Taking Lee off was a travesty of mismanagement when he was by far our best player. If I were Adkins, I'd be feeling very uncomfortable this morning and keeping my head down at Staplewood waiting nervously for a phone-cal from the boss. Try brushing this one off with a smile and a self-deceiving "we'll look at it in the morning, analyse it, see what positives we can take; then draw a blue line under this game and then WE move on" Bull****! Cortese looked like thunder at the final whistle so he must be raking over options in his head in the smae way that Abramovich does
  2. Probably explains everything, the depressurisation and foul atmosphere inside the plane are well known debilitating effects of flying. Nobody feels the same getting off a plane than when they got on, fact. What an incredibly stupid arrangement; the idiot who dreamed this up needs his Rrse setting on fire! Surely we are rich enough to drive up on Thursday and stay in a decent hotel with practice pitches for a couple of nights and a real chance of acclimatising. Get it sorted you plonkers!
  3. Yes but they didn't stay up there long did they
  4. Talk about injustice! Poor old Leeds, should have been out of site by HT. Let's face it we were **** poor and they played us off the park. What happened to our mid-field? It wasn't just Punch & Chappers who were knackered from ko and our defending was little short of a disgrace. How the toddling Fs are we going to win anything playing like this. Hope we wake up in time for Tuesday. Thanks Kelvin!
  5. Nonsense! Of course you can. Quality is absolute and price should have everything to do with it. Ricky is worth nothing to anybody else 'cos he ain't going anywhere. As for Carroll... Pards is no effing fool is he, if the long-haired geordie bean-pole had been worth £35m Pards would not have let him go in the first place. Think about it.
  6. Pearce was here the other day, probably eying "Adz" Lallana but maybe Ricky too
  7. Ricky Lambert is loved here by everyone - end of story
  8. A very pleasant surprise. Let's hope this new surge of confidence will carry us through to the end of the season. All we have to do is keep winning and the rest is academic, how many points, who will challenge hardest etc. Please, just for once Saints win a meaningful trophy in style. The last three times we got promoted to Division 1 & 2 we ended up being second... First would be very nice for once! Next, we have to overcome that TV jinx.
  9. Wonderful result. I missed the game to make an appointment in the City. What a bummer of a call that was! "Can we not win this league, Sam?"
  10. You'll need to provide an explanation of this terminology for readers to make any sense of your post. No doubt it is intended to be offensive to those who do not share whatever view it is that you think you have but are unable to convey to the rest of us.
  11. Pathetic thread. Sycophantic tosh! I expected more of you of all people. Brown Nose Day already? The bloke's in it for your money whichever way it's dressed up to look appealing. He'd sell you down the river just like anybody else given the right circumstances. I happen to respect the bloke for what he's achieved quietly behind the scenes but don't believe all the rhetorical bulls*it that emanates from the PR department and "no" i don't spend twenty minutes before each game craning my neck to see if "the great man" has deigned to be in his seat, as many idiots seem to want to do. I couldn't give a **** whether he turns up or not as long as our club keeps going forward.
  12. This season will be remembered by me more for being messed about by TV schedules than the football. I've missed 5 already and this one is bound to be another as Friday is off limits for me so like others on here what is the point of paying for a ST when a quarter of the home matches are played at hopelessly inconvenient times. If we do go up it'll be even worse next year so brace yourselves.
  13. The power of the internet! Trouble is how could you hope to prove he said what it is claimed he said? CPS could not take action on the "say-so" of individuals or even groups of fans. Impossible retrospectively, only hope is to record him saying something similar on at least one phone next time he's there. Mind you Stewards and Old Bill could keep a beady eye on him once they know who the suspect is so report it.
  14. Tuesday night, away, freezing and 7.45pm ko? This ain't where we do our best stuff is it. Allardyce's ugly bastards will make sure we don't get a chance to play passing football in the naive way that Burnley did and no doubt will make sure that at least a couple of our guys get clobbered, with Lallana, Lambert * Hoover being top targets. This will be an ugly game and a draw will be a good result.
  15. Excellent win and performance and about time too. We should have scored 5 and upped the ante on goal diference. Sat 3.00pm ko has to be a relevant factor, let's face it our bodies work with the daylight and at 7.45pm most of us are knackered and ready for a bit of shut eye no matter what time you get up and how little you do all day. Footballers are no different to you or me. It can't just apply to just Saints 'though, it must be true for all clubs so the early successful teams become the poor sods who get spotified by Sky and handicapped as a result. This may explain why mid table sides often make a late and succesful run to the play-offs as they get no attention from the media until right at the end?
  16. As far as I remember back when we always seem to end up with red & white - just a co-incidence?
  17. Chappers isn't match fit yet so will not start as that tends to be the high intensity part of a match at SMS when top sides come at us straight out of the blocks. Since De Ridder is knackered and Guly never gets his anti-freeze warm in this climate it's got to be Puncheon to start and Chappers on at 65min. Lee for Sharp or Sharp for Lee. I think I'd start with Lee after his display on Tuesday and bring Sharp on later. Surprised that you think Hoover will start as it seems doubtful to me that he'll be ready. Maybe Jaidi should get a start? For me; Davis, Butterfield-Jaidi-Fonte-Fox, Puncheon-Schneiderlin-Cork-Lallana, Lee-Lambert subs; GK-Richardson-Chaplow-Hammond-Sharp
  18. Idiot. Do you ever think before you type?
  19. You're misleading us. This is not last year' league table it's PPG table and Forest who had played fewer games had the second highest PPG but were not 2nd in the league, they were 4th. Thus the top three at this time last year went up and the top two remained the top two. Maybe some hope then!

    Adkins

That interview! Talk about a Damascus moment! Why has it taken him so long to realise that we are not the best thing since sliced braed? Trouble is for too long he has believed his own hype that everything in the garden is rosy pink and emerald green and it effing well ain't! Now he's waking up to the reality that we have talked about on here for the last two months, that we more resmble and play like a relegation team than the high-flying champions he thinks we are. Hence, Adkins sounded really down and so he effing should be! His own balloon has exploded in his face big time and now he's under test as never before. Does he have what it takes to recover as fergie and wenger do or will he just become another also-ran ending up in the lower leagues? Now that he's started blaming players which he's never done before, how long will it be before he loses the dressing room? Fair do's the players must perform and deliver but the manager is responsible for the overall delivery and tactics and finding the right players and he knows he can't hide from that. saying it is one thing doing something about it is another. Right now the similarities with Poortvliet's aimless passing pansies is worrying and look what happened to them. My guess is that Mr Cortese has just put a pile of red hot coals under his chair and his feet are beginning to feel the heat - hence his unusual reaction. Looking at 4 wins from 15 any fan must be wondering if it is time for a new defensive coach, a new attacking coach and come to think of it a new effing manager? After all we do seem to have a quite exceptional squad of highly talented players who could and should be world-beaters so why can't the firts team coaches get it to work? The Exit Sign and Waiting Taxi must be getting perilously close one would imagine judging by his after match defensiveness. It would not surprise me at all that if we FAIL TO WIN ON SATURDAY, Adders could be gone on Monday of next week... Whoops! More incoming missiles! tell you waht 'though... I was there last night, frozen to the Rollocks so don't doubt my loyalty to the cause - I wanna go up!
  21. Well, at least I was one of the miserable few who turned out and got frozen to the effing marrow watching this load of aimless crap so have more than a right to come on here today to complain. We were effing clueless; they gave us the run-around for the whole of the first half and when we dominated later we still couldn't hit the effing target enough to win and our defence as always was AWOL when it mattered. Fonte, Guly were crap, Martin was only slightly better than crap, Richardson was all at sea, Harding was embarrassing, Hammond was only half fit and clueless on the ball, Chaplow is miles away from fitness. Only Lallana distinguished himself, the rest you can parcel up and sell to the highest bidder if we get any. Of the subs, Lambo was as always Lambo what would we do without him and Reeves was immense, what a prospect - hope he stays loyal. Barnard, headless chicken - seems to go together. Overall Adkins sounded down and so he effing should be! Now he's blaming players which he's never done before. Has he lost the dressing room? Is it time for a new defensive coach, a new attacking coach and come to think of it a new effing manager? Getting perilously close one would imagine judging by his after match defensiveness. Big question now is "Where is the recovery going to come from?" Lallana cannot do it all on his own ad OK Morgan and Corkie are probably good enough along with Lambo but what of the rest. I will conceded that southern continentals will have found last night absolutely excruciatingly miserable at -3C and falling so I do feel for Guly, Lee & Fonte in particular but this is England, this is February and **** why are they here at all if they can't cope with our miserable effing weather?
  22. It's good that Chappers will get some pitch time and welcome back. Only doubt now is Pardew, he's been missing for quite a few weeks now and it's beginning to show so will be good to get him back in the squad soon. Surely one of Mr Cortese's smartest moves was to send him on loan to Newcastle to get match experience but he's being wasted up there with an under-achieving PL team, so come on Nicole after your reversal on Puncheon, swallow your pride and find another olive branch. Guess who's feeling like a first class tit right now?
  23. On and on it goes, played (last) 12 - points 13. How can anybody be happy with this? Saints could never survive in the PL even if they get there, which now seems increasingly doubtful. Yes, Brum are an in-form team but if we can't take on and beat the main opposition in the NPC how on earth are we supposed to compete against PL sides even Bolton & Blackburn and their boring long-ball ilk? Maybe we do have a good balanced team for mid-table in this division but we'd better get serious about team building if we really do want to be playing in a better league any time soon. I wonder what Cortese is thinking right now as his 5-year dream slips ever further out of sight. I guess if we don't make it, he'll start again with a fresh approach in the summer, after all he'll still have two years left in which to do it with Martin Jol or Roy Hodgson.... Whoa.... Incomimg missiles!
  24. If we can win this league without using him that's by far the best strategy as he will go back to Spurs in the summer whatever he achieves for us here. Fully integrated and starring in our side might be the worst outcome for Saints. We should use him only when the proverbial hits the big twisted blade but it's good to have him on the bench. My guess is he won't be on the bench when Chaplow is fully straining on the leash.
  25. Bloody Frozen, what sadistic berk invented Tuesday late-night football. I'm still shivering today. Better than expected from Saints and we did deserve the win but our lot seem to think putting the ball in the net was not part of the passing game - maybe if should stand somebody in the goal behind the line so they can pass to him. That way we get a goal and they won't know. Not so many positives from this one Adders, another 2 points dropped so that's only 12 from the last 11 league matches. H'mmh relegation form? I feel happier about Brum on Saturday now, still think it'll be incredibly difficult as Houghton has cleared out all the crappie old has-beens and got some fresh young talent playing the ball around, a bit like us. They're whacking everyone in sight at the moment so we really do have to watch out for that 5-0 thrashing that might end our season. I guess we must hope for another 1-1
