Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition
Charlie Wayman replied to Jimmy_D's topic in The Saints
Dead right mate! If we buy anybody they should be young with real long term potential. No doubt the usual PL journeymen will be queuing up to leave the three sinking ships and join us or Reading but we must resist the urge. Once a failure etc, we just don't need idol rich boys who take the **** for money. Adam Lallana is right, of the three clubs that went up last year the one doing least well is the one (QPR) that bought in "big names" and totally disrupted their team. The others stuck with what they had and my oh! my they are both mid-table and being admired for their free flowing football. That's how we should be.. who's better than our current lads for the money we can afford to spend anyway. -
They pay you otherwise no bugger would ever turn up to watch them especially that looney tunes crank of a manager. Still, if we make The Promised Land (PL - get it?) think of all the delights in store for us like Bolton, Wigan, Villa, Blackburn, QPRsoles... Oh S*** can we stay down please?
-
Selfish ****! Not everyone in the Itchen is a millionaire just that we like a bit of peace and quiet of a Saturday afternoon. Anyway a 50% hike uniformly applied will still cost me far more than it'll cost you and I don't get a pay rise either.

New ticketing system - Validate your details
Charlie Wayman replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
Re-registered and confirmed by e-mail. Perfect as far as one can tell. Now, what's to complain about serial groaners and moaners? -
It's only the second division for goodness sake. We've been up twice before and back down. Get a grip. We'll be down again before very long no doubt. I was there for both promotion clinching games and you do feel good afterwards. If you hang around long enough it all becomes common place!

I imagine their support is going through the same anguish as we Saints fans. Somebody 'though is going to be mighty disappointed on Saturday night. It seems to me that West Ham are better equipped to deal with the play-offs than Saints in my view so should we succeed on Saturday it's a pretty safe bet that they'll join us in the PL. One must be less confident of the alternative scenario.

IF we win... will there be an open top bus parade on Sunday around the City Centre? Might take up my position on Thursday across from the balcony at Civic Centre just in case...

The Leicester Vs West Ham Match Thread
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
What a Bummer! There is a certain dreadful inevitability about all of this... right now nothing is going right for Saints. Let's not live on false hopes, West Ham will win on Saturday and probably get 3 or 4 goals in the process as they do when the mood takes them. A draw won't be good enough for Saints but can't you just see it coming? Oh ****! -
Indeed and there will be also the problem of integrating any newcomers into our system. Even if we bought top class talent in June or whenever the window opens we'd still have only a few weeks at most to integrate them and as you know it won't be easy with a long standing squad and all the baggage that goes with it. For sure if we reach the PL we'll need to hit the ground running from match 1. Early defeats might prove disastrous for morale.
-
I give up. Why always us? What a first class cock up this was. All the pre-match bull**** from players about "going there to win the league.... " and in the end they went down with a whimper. Fonte and Hammond are always committing stupid errors; between them they have caused us to lose quite a few games recently. Time for them to move on? Can't see Saturday being much fun now. Now it really is SQB time, screw it up next week and we could be kissing goodbye to the PL. Who would fancy us to beat any of the other play0off contenders in our current form?

We're on Telly?
-
It's really great that possibly 3 southern teams will go up and 3 northern ones come down. Sort of balances it all up a bit from the usual Lancashire domination where every game is a local derby and no bugger ever has to travel more than a few miles to the match, specs or players
-
Are you allowed to turn up on the day as a 'neutral' and just buy a ticket and sit in the stand. Do they ask for i'd? How would they know we are from Southampton? Surely as ;long as they sell tickets who cares or are there rules that prevent 'neutrals' wanting to watch out of interest and curiosity?

P'Boro 1 V 3 Saints Post Match Chat!!
Charlie Wayman replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
I was a bag of nerves all evening even at 3-0 but we made it. Maybe we will surprise everyone after all and do the same to Middlesbro -
I guess you saw Poyet's remarks about the PL after his Saturday's debacle, that "this lot (his team!) won't be playing the PL" and he would be buying experienced PL players in the close season (if he still has the job?) for a proper charge next season. There are stark warnings there as we are not that much better than them should we scrape into the PL.

Thanks mate for taking the pressure off me for once. I don't envy you all the foul mouthed verbal abuse that will follow your observations from the usual one-celled amoeba's that pose as fans on this site. I could list them all and get 99% of the list right. Whatever you do don't respond to their myopic rantings, I doubt many will construct more than two sentences. As for the Adkins man, his missive of today reaches a new depth of self delusion... "given ourselves an oppurtunity to achieve what we want.." when we've all but blown it from a dominating position? The poor bugger must really be feeling the heat; one senses your predictions will prove all too prophetic.

We're all hoping it'll be a victory parade of course hence the level of interest; Redknapp awarding the trophy... Either that or Blackpool home and away then Brum up at the smoke.

Saints / Reading / West Ham run in: Games to go . . .
Charlie Wayman replied to .comsaint's topic in The Saints
Yeah! but he rescinded when the Clergy put the screws on him and his life was in mortal danger, so people remember only the good bits. Trouble with this hopelessly optimistic scenario is that Reading won't lose again either. Of the three we are the most shaky right now so if anybody is to drop points it'll be us through silly errors one suspects of the Merrington variety "What we don't want to do now is Eff it up" -
Had you intelligence enough to actually read and understand what I was saying about last night's game no doubt you could have enlightened us on your persuasive counter arguments. As it is your reply speaks magnitudes about your total inability to understand, analyse or deduce anything useful from a football match. Clearly you are a loud mouthed buffoon who hides behind the anonymity of a website moniker. As for loyalty, I was watching Saints playing probably long before you ever existed. Silly boy, silly reply.

Not surprised at all. Reading were much the better organised footballing side; they defended resolutely throughout the match and when they needed to strike they did so with speed, penetration and purpose. Let's be honest although we gave a very workmanlike performance we were second best on quality all night without inspiration or imagination. Any decent PL side would have cut us to pieces just as Reading's attack did last night. We can't be disappointed with the outcome because for all our huffing and puffing and trying to ram our way through the middle we never looked like we could ever prise open their defence. Battering away time after time at a closed and barricaded door is not the answer. This team is not good enough for PL duties as it stands as the sheer pace of Reading's attacks now testifies, all was laid bare with their second goal. Blame silly mistakes on Fox & Harding all you like but to do so totally misses the point, Reading were so quick to take advantage of our slips that we were caught out flatfooted and chasing shadows not once, not twice but three times. We were found out by the only team in this league that will have any chance of staying up in the PL at the end of next season. Sadly, it has always seemed to me since Christmas that Reading were going to win this leaugue and have said so o here many times. Who can stop them? Big ****! The one and only Alan Pardew spotted their manager at Woking and gave him his first 'real' job in league football at Reading... wouldn't you just know it!

Good result. Well done!

That's what we were all saying as we trudged our way from the stadium. "Why fiddle about then" when what we had to do was hold the ball up and generally amke a nuisance of ourselves and Smart was doing that all day. Poor Harding... probably had long since switched off in his head at that stage and was just worrying about who might take him on for next year...
