  1. Probably best we don't start picking all our players to bits on here. They all have good days and bad days. It is naive to think that there is a single cause for all our woes and a single cure. Why single out Lallana?
  2. Don't be so bloody naive. This is a privately owned football club so they can do what they want and say nowt of they want. It is not a public listed company so there are no shareholders to answer to. Whenever did you hear anything from Abromovitch about internal business matters. If Adkins is to go then his settlement has to be agreed as well as that of Crosby and others who'll get the big heave-ho with him before any announcements and decisions are made about who comes next. Salarynegotiations, terms and conditions, work permit etc. stuff will have had to have been sorted out also with the new guy. Cortese will not make any statement until everything is complete, i's dotted and t's crossed. He's not the type to have loose ends floating around especially for the press to pick up. These days you don't just wake up and decide "that's it". Adkins will have had all the statutory warnings about his performance no doubt as well as all of the above if he has now been seen to have failed in his duties. It all takes time but it's probably already been done. The last thing this club will want is to put somebody like Dodd in temporary charge for 4 matches whilst searching for a new guy. That's not the image of dithering that Cortese wants to be seen in public. A man of few words but well chosen when they come! Wait for the lovely old phrases to kick in like "mutually agreed", "a new challenge", "taken the club as far as he can", "a new direction".... ... don't expect to hear "Sacked, you useless twit!"
  3. The reporter has nailed it spot on. I'm afraid you are deluding yourself if you think otherwise
  4. Let's not forget our very own Alan Pardew. Watching Newcastle play is like watching the Saints who won the Johnson's Paint Trophy with he same resolute defending. Get him back where he belongs
  5. Glenn Hoddle is the thinking man's choice
  6. For whom the bell tolls? it tolls for us
  7. Well the obvious first choice is Roy Hodgson but whether or not he'd give up on England is a moot point. With the FA chairman now being forced into retirement because he's 70 and he being Roy's main supporter, it is possible Roy would come here. I can't think of anybody better who'd be interested.
  8. The Spurs game may be the decider for Nigel's future but the other coaches must share the blame.
  9. You should not be too pessimistic. There is a new mood in FIFA and Serbia deserve to and will be kicked out of all competition indefinitely, mark my words. This has been far too public to be dismissed easily even by Blatterer
  10. So what do you call it then? Embittered indeed. We'll judge Mr Cortese from our own experience in time thank you very much and if passing on stories you've been told is not stirring then what do you call it? For goodness sake let's have bit of harmony around the place for long enough to enjoy it, we are in a good place no thanks to MlT and every thanks to Nicole Cortese so that's where I'll put my trust and probably many more feel like me. We are sick and tired of naysayers and fifth columnists here.
  11. 'Friad it doesn't work like that.
  12. That is probably right but it is nigh impossible to dot every i and cross every T in a building specification. Architects are designers not quality surveyors or construction engineers and of course in a low cost project like this the chances of all the writings being joined up are slim. No doubt the Club thought they were getting 'this' and the contractor thought they meant it wanted 'that' with 'that' always being far less than 'this'. Remember what happened when you got your extension built or your garden landscaped? Or you car repaired? hans up all those who are still friends with the garage where you bought your last car. It is not deceit as such just expectations v reality for the number of chips being spent. For the aforementioned statue of Guly the Magician, we probably just said "make it gold", expecting it to be embossed with gold leaf whereas the painter assumed we meant he'd pop round to B & Q and but a can of hammerite!
  13. He was not at his best on Sunday but hell's bells lads he has just become a dad and you know what that means, totally ****ged through sleepless nights and early starts even before he turns up for training. I should think the poor lad is shell-shocked and walking around in a permanent daze. There is no answer until little Arthur goes through the night without waking and gets up at 8.00 am and that will be 3 years down the track so maybe we should sell him now?
  14. This 'poll' has overwhelmingly and emphatically delivered a "NO" - so let this be an end to all those monotonous threads.
  15. These sort of threads should not be dignified by response but many still take the bait every time. The Peter Principle also says "If you have nothing useful to say then keep your trap shut!" OP please take note; find another hobby like finishing your homework on time.
  16. You need to cut a bit of slack for supporters as well as managers. They/We have been to hell and back since 2004 far more downs than ups and yet a good number have stayed the course with the club, stayed loyal and paid their shilling. Now, after two all brief years of relative success they fear the wheels might be about to fall off again, so naturally they are apprehensive and understandably not persuaded by positive talk about a "better tomorrow's" and "corners being turned soon" especially after such a dismal start. It is not enough to say glibly we've had a tough start so everything will be all right soon, of course we've had a tough start it's a tough league and if we don't compete we'll be out of it. Maybe the players we have aren't good enough, maybe the coaches aren't good enough, maybe the manager isn't good enough, who knows the answer must be in there somewhere but unless the situation improves very soon of course fans will get edgy and anxious and start clutching at straws, there is nothing else they can do but share concerns. It's not that they want Nigel out , probably just the opposite in fact but in their desperation they just want any change that will turn things around. Unfortunately, manager's tend to be all too easily identifiable when things go right so ergo when things go wrong no prizes for guessing where the spotlight will fall first especially since changing players is not a short-term solution. Getting rid of Nigel isn't the solution either but don't blame fans for thinking it might be. He needs time and we need patience and let's hope Mr Cortese thinks this way because we are playing nice football and "the last thing we want now" (nod to Dave Merrington) is some bully buy, brain dead ex-pro shouting the odds about the benefits of hoof-ball. we have brillaint young teams coming through at 18 and 21 level playing the same way as the first team so we just need to stay up in the PL long enough for the plan to mature. I am certain Nigel can do that even if we end up 16th.
  17. Bugger me matey, you really must have a superb pair of pink specs to be that complacent. I'll have lots of what you're on. It must be just the other 30,000 of us who thought we looked second rate and prime candidates for the NPL next year if the coaches don't start taking the job seriously
  18. We must learn to be champion divers as well if we are to survive. You can't beat this system so we'll have to join it. Give that wincy diva on "Strictly" a contract quick!
  19. Very disappointing game but not surprising really when the starting line-up was revealed. Good to see Morgan back quickly from injury and he and Davis ran the show in the first half and it was essential that during that period of domination we should have made the game secure. We didn't of course, Saints being Saints so the inevitable happened. Jol moved things around at HT to stop our midfield domination by closing m down Morgan and Davis which more or less stopped the flow of our game. Predictable and yet we had no plan B to regain control. Last year we used the diamond to do that but not this year, why? Inevitably we defended deeper and deeper as a result of not being able to keep the football with people resort to long balls which just kept coming back. It was only a matter of time before they scored and we were dead lucky to get out of jail at the end. As for the subs, it was always going to be a problem with such a makeshift start XI and not much better on the bench. Taking Ricky off always seems to me to be a match-losing strategy. If Adkins is wanting to bring Guly on for his pace stick him on the wing for F's sake and either ditch Punch or lallana and surely the place for Chaps today was at RB replacing Jos who was out of sorts. Poor old Jos one of those days he couldn't do right for doing wrong. My guess is that the ball came at him so fast that he was on auto with no time to think and stuck a boot in with the intention of the ball ending back up the mid-field. He was just unlucky with that and all those with hindsight need to accept, what else could he have done in that split second? We lost two points today because of poor tactical awareness and our newly acquired inability to change our play around to suit the ebb and flow of the game and that is down to the coaches only, so sorry Nigel but this buck stops with you; you won't improve our defending by telling us how bad it is so get off your Rrse and do something about it - get better defensive coaching on-board fast of you'll go down before the ship.
  20. What a stupid thread. Based on whose opinion exactly, yours? I think he might know a bit more about tactics than any of the critics on here
  21. If he's any good and good enough for the PL then Forest owe us big time with 4 of our players on their books. No wonder we play in the same colours as them.
  22. One of the most embarrassing sights at SMs these days is watching 11 grown men behave like children in a junior school playground whilst the oppo's watch in utter disbelief and amazement. Why don't they cuddle in the privacy of their own homes if they're that way inclined. You can imagine what Roy Keane would have said idfaske dto join in " Eff off you effing *******!"
  23. Crikey, Kelvin Davies really has fallen from grace in your eyes? I think he'll start at home on Saturday an no way will Chaps get the nod over JWP. He hasn't figured in six games so far so will not be match fit and at best will come on for 15 minutes towards the end.
  24. Thanks for that. Schwarzer of course but no idea how to spell his name! he's even more frightening than Brad
  25. Fulham are a good side playing well under Jol who is a total football man. This will be another very hard nut to crack. We never score against Brad Friedel either so that's it really. Beaten at our own game as we were by Arsenal & Everton. I fear 0-3 and for Adkins after this one. So, yes, 0-3 it will be and it hurts to say so.
