I guess we can justifiably claim to be fans. I'm still smarting from Charlie Wayman's decision to leave. What we could do with him now....
-
What is the matter with you? There is absolutely no connection between this unsavoury episode and the Chairman so why make one? Frankly, the attitude of people like you stinks. Whatever narrow minded mission you are on get over it. The silent majority are very grateful of the way the Chairman is leading this club forward, we are lucky indeed to have him.

Black - Ellerington/Ramsey, Rochford - Smith, Webber, Mallett - Day, Curtis, Wayman, Bates, Wrigglesworth What a team they were. never know how they missed the First Division so many times... Eric Day a legend RIP

Evidence requires a photo from every match taken during the match at 3.15 or whatever time after ko, not a pic when the game is over and other people have left. I sit near there and there's nearly always people seated next to him
-
You are factually wrong OP, Mr Cortese always has people next to him on his LH side whils to his RH side is a gangway!!! Poppies signify the British & Allied Armies blood spilled on the fields of Flanders in Belgium notably at the first battle of Ypres in 1915. Our Italian allies of the First World War were engaged in an equally bloody struggle against the Austrians in the foothills of the Alps in North Eastern Italy. Whilst we share and remember our common agony on 11th November at 11.00 am, the poppy has no symbolic significance to an Italian even one domiciled in the UK. I have no doubt he would have had his own solemn reflections during the two minutes silence at the match. You like others are far too keen to take a swipe at Mr Cortese for whatever narrow and bigoted reason is in your own mind. It would be far wiser for you to keep such thoughts to yourself and above all think before you write.

Well quite obviously everyone did notice, it was after all his first full 90 mins this season. What a game he had and what a difference it makes when he and Morgan play this well together. It is ridiculous to implicate him in the stupid error that led to their goal. 'Gazza' (as he is called on here) had all the time in the world to get the ball away safely but being a slave to the Adkins dogma of "passing out from the back" the poor young kid was programmed to do as he was told so picked the nearest guy to him who happened to be unprepared and off balance - but I guess all he could see was a red shirt with some space. Having a system is OK but players need to be allowed some flexibility and initiative to express themselves, that's what makes great players as opposed to squad journeymen.

Harry Redknapp to be named manager within 3 weeks
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Silly thread. -
Two more point down the drain, how much longer can this farcical situation continue before Adkins is put out of his misery? There are no positives when you're chasing 40 points, at this rate we won't even get 20. I'm afraid the "Going down" taunt applies more realistically every week. If we are going to change the coaching people let's get on a FFFing well do it and at least give the new people a fighting chance of keeping us up. Indecision is ruining us. Come on Cortese sort put your mess!
-
Exactly. The guy was given energy supplements 15 mins before being subbed but he was so absolutely knackered just couldn't continue. Fox played really well once he was on the pitch - playing for his place no doubt. Other wise this thread is **** stirring rubbish and typically badly informed. OP were you watching at all.

Hook? Is that Cap'n Hook? Don't say we're going to play a one-handed goalie with an eye patch tomorrow? That's all we need after the unpolished Pole and the Argentinian tangle.

You seem to be a very bitter person especially as probably you have absolutely no (i.e., SFA) idea of the issues that lie behind the spat between Mr Cortese and MLT. It is always wiser to base judgement on facts than sentimentality and in any case MLT wasn't that good was he, at least not in the many dozens of matches I saw him play here.
-
How very sweet and touching! My advice to you and others like you is "Stop being sentimental" - this is a results driven business and Adkins isn't getting results, simple as that. Anybody nailing his or her colours to Adkins mast when they don't even know him as a person is foolish indeed. When did backing failure ever get anybody anywhere? Sorry old chap but this is down to him as well intentioned as he may be, if he isn't good enough he MUST go! Cortese will think we've lost our marbles if we are backing a lost cause. Silence is the best action tomorrow on thisparticular issue. For sure, get behind the team as loudly as possible but that won't improve our tactics.
-
Well, having been across the channel for a week but herad the WBA result, really thought Adkins would be history by now. Reda all the guff from the press and was astounded to read Adders (own?) words that our goal is survival when at the start of this season Cortese had set a target of top six for this season... So what's the problem and why the change of heart? Saints under Adders just aren't good enough yet Cortese is persisting? It doesn't add up, so my guess is he can't get the Roberto's he really wants - de Matteo and Martinez are doing very well thank. I hear he is pals with both. So where from here? Or is Cortese planning his exit strategy whilst the club is a going concern?

Leeds 3 - 0 Saints - Post Match Reaction
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Everyone associated with tonight's diabolical performance should be shot. I feel sorry for the poor bloody fans who spent a fortune and their whole day travelling all the way up to Leeds to watch that load of s***e. Now, I am convinced we are going down and Adkins and his cohorts are effing clueless and will get the boot - and not soon enough on this inept load of crap. They don't deserve our support. -
So nobody knows anything?

Saints 1-2 Spurs // Post-Match Views
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
So now we have to put up with long ball football and kick and rush... and still we can't get points. Whatever happened to the mantra of "sticking to our football principles". Not only does the man talk to himself in the mirror, he now writes in metaphors about sailing in rough waters and stormy seas ahead! FFSGAG! One of us seems to be stark raving bonkers, I don't think it's me? Now I'm convinced we'll never turn this around under the present regime - it is devoid of new ideas; everyone knows that doing the same old thing in the same old way always leads to the same old result. -
The haunted and scared look in his face tells all. This is not the happy confident person that started the season, it's all beginning to tell as is face shows signs of premature aging. He knows he's in a fight for his job and by this evidence there isn't long to go.

Maybe we have to contend with the fact that scouts watch us and PL teams are cute enough to know how to neutralise the threat of Ricky Lambert so in all probability they come here or go here expecting Ricky to be the main threat so why not surprise then by keeping our powder dry for later. The element of surprise when they find he isn't there can be a major advantage in the first half whilst the oppo's run around trying to re-organise themselves for a different formation to the one they practiced on Friday morning. Then when they are in disarray, bring Ricky on and create havoc again with the originally intended formation by which time the oppo's won't know where they are... It worked a treat at Upton Park last weekend and they were thoroughly demoralised by the time the score was 4-1. What's that? We lost 4-1... well at least we tried, oh! tiddles still better to try and fail then never to have tried at all, eh Nige?

There were no programme sellers for Fulham, I bought mine at the refreshments counter along with a coffee and hot dog. Where's the problem? Time people stopped over reacting to trivia.

Harry Redknapp to be named manager within 3 weeks
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Look forward not back for the answer to the questions "What if?" & "Who?" We haven't reached the "What if?" yet so Nigel Adkins is NOT history and we should not be hypothesising about his demise. If we reach the "Who?" of a new manager, it'll be a decision made with great care and with the intent that the appointee will be here for many years to come, based on the assumption that Mr Cortese is still very serious about his ambition for Saints to be a top-six club. Will not be English Will be young Will be a name Will have Champions League experience Mr Sandbanks doesn't really fit such criteria so please sleep soundly tonight. -
Like the PL it sounds enticing but what is she expecting from you? Can you perform at her level or will you disappoint as so often happens?
-
The truth is that 97% of all PL matches are mind-numbingly boring as there is nothing at stake for anybody except 3 clubs whilst about another 12 spend their lives going up and down like a fiddler's elbow so nobody gives a tit who's in the league and who isn't anymore. 'Fair Play' may help but don't hold your breath. Greatest league in the world? Yur avin a laff ain't ya?

Is Lallana part of our problem?
Charlie Wayman replied to Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd's topic in The Saints
Probably best we don't start picking all our players to bits on here. They all have good days and bad days. It is naive to think that there is a single cause for all our woes and a single cure. Why single out Lallana? -
Don't be so bloody naive. This is a privately owned football club so they can do what they want and say nowt of they want. It is not a public listed company so there are no shareholders to answer to. Whenever did you hear anything from Abromovitch about internal business matters. If Adkins is to go then his settlement has to be agreed as well as that of Crosby and others who'll get the big heave-ho with him before any announcements and decisions are made about who comes next. Salarynegotiations, terms and conditions, work permit etc. stuff will have had to have been sorted out also with the new guy. Cortese will not make any statement until everything is complete, i's dotted and t's crossed. He's not the type to have loose ends floating around especially for the press to pick up. These days you don't just wake up and decide "that's it". Adkins will have had all the statutory warnings about his performance no doubt as well as all of the above if he has now been seen to have failed in his duties. It all takes time but it's probably already been done. The last thing this club will want is to put somebody like Dodd in temporary charge for 4 matches whilst searching for a new guy. That's not the image of dithering that Cortese wants to be seen in public. A man of few words but well chosen when they come! Wait for the lovely old phrases to kick in like "mutually agreed", "a new challenge", "taken the club as far as he can", "a new direction".... ... don't expect to hear "Sacked, you useless twit!"
