  1. Guly would be a good signing!
  2. Probably a bit too simplistic. There has been a general all round improvement in our defensive effort probably some new people or thinking behind the scenes rather than player changes or managers working miracles.
  3. The fat lady is not ready to do her turn yet......
  4. Saw Jo Tessem and Michael Svensson in West Quay at lunchtime.. what are they doing here? Happy to pose for pics, they still look like young kids and have kept in good shape... Rumour machine engage!
  5. The battle of the development squads. Can't wait... let's run that again, development squads FFS who wants to watch that load of old crap?
  6. This game may well be the decider for Nigel & Co, perhaps only a decisive win good enough. Draw or lose and both results are possible against a stubborn Reading side and Cortese's patience may snap. If he is in the mood to change things around he'll have to decide very soon otherwise like Nigel's late substitutions - nearly always too late to effect the outcome - he will have forfeited the chance of saving us. We are into December and the squeaks are starting to escape. For me this is another 1-1 at best.
  7. Did you watch? Otherwise spouting rubbish.
  8. Could HAVE been worse!
  9. Well, we were never at the races at Anfield. The mid-field were universally knackered and ineffective so Liverpool controlled the midfield throughout and we never got the ball and never gave the front men a chance. OK, three games in a week but it's the same for everyone so are we special because we have very young players with less reserves of stamina or is that our guys just aren't fit enough? The back four seemed to hold it together quite well considering they had little cover from Cork & Schneiderlin and so subjected to a more or less constant onslaught. If unfitness is the problem then it's a big worry now that the colder, wetter weather is here with heavy going and growing concerns about results and whether or not we can haul ourselves out of the relegation zone. On the evidence of this match we deserve to be in the bottom half dozen. Overall we can't take any positives out of this one, we looked poor and the form of a couple of weeks ago seems to have deserted us.
  10. He looks a class act to me and improves with every game. Brings more out of Fonte as well who now seems able to concentrate on his own job and makes fewer errors as a result. The guy is good make no mistake about that.
  11. Houghton is a miserable git without a good word for any team other than his own. At least Nigel never gets drawn to criticism of others
  12. A very tired performance that does not auger well for Saturday, if the lads cannot recover from Sunday to Wednesday - 3 days - then no chance they'll have enough energy with only 2 days recovery. The omens are not good and although I'd like to think we can give the scousers a good game somehow it seems improbable. Regrettably a 3-0 defeat looks most likely
  13. If we stay in the PL, yes - that's really all there is too it. One can dream of parallels with the late 90's Man U - "you win nothing with kids"... Who's to say we cannot become giants of the south to challenge the might of the north? The new crop of kids seem to possess a level of loyalty far above anything that has gone before - probably a far better in-house culture - and most importantly they can see the opportunity to play regular top class football here if they're good enough which must be tremendous motivation. How many Brit kids do you see in other top PL sides? Fair do's to Theo & Gareth, they had to be sacrificed in the interests of survival as they were the only tradable assets we had, Oxy was plain greedy.
  14. Wonderful. For one day the best team in the Premier League. One day we will score 6
  15. No actually that bit was quite serious. According to the BBC we will be 'dumped' on big time this weekend, torrentail rain, gale force winds and flooding.
  16. Of course it is sad that a very depleted magpies side will travel down on Sunday.. ha,ha,ha... he,he,he... ho,ho,ho. If we give Pards a huge south coast welcome that might knock his concentration as well so what's not to like? The weather will probably mean a wash-out 'though, the SMS pitch as close as it is to the river will be very prone to flooding especially if the tide is in during the match. To be frank, it may not be worth going up at all as we'll all get drowned on the way even before the game is called-off - according to the BBC.
  17. Well you certainly put him down nicely. stymied is the word that comes to mind. well done!
  18. PSG for Becks, Big Pay-off, Paris, tons of publicity, an IN crowd... what's not to like? Becks at St Mary's? You're having a laugh!
  19. I've been telling you all along that di Matteo and Cortese are best mates and that as soon as Chelsea dumped him - he was always a fill in there anyway as events have proved - he would join us. Timing is perfect. Cortese will have known what was going on behind the scenes at Chelsea. Now it seems Adkins is up irrespective of recent results and the outcome of our two home games over the long weekend. The waiting is over for Cortese. The downside is that Chelsea can't defend either so whilst di Matteo's style of play helped Swansea & WBA develop their tippy-tappy style of football that is a prefect match to the 'Adkins' style, we may end up in exactly the same position as we are now but with a more experienced manager and maybe some better under-studies. At least di matteo is also great mates with Roy Hodgson so this should help Lambert, Lallana 7 Cork. Now, you have to admit it all adds up.......
  20. You can only play 11 footballers at a time and at least 6 of those are defensive so poor old Chung through no fault of his own has slipped down the pecking order for the other 5 places whilst he's been out through injury especially with the arrival of Ramirez and Mayuka. Having another Japanese on board won't have helped his cause either as all the publicity down there will have shifted to their Japan captain, assuming that the whole Japanese thing is a huge marketing gambit to sell shirts down under.
  21. Since Stoke is topical and a hospice for ex-Saints, why not send Steeeeeeeeeeeeve to potter about up there? Probably has twice as much talent as the whole of Pulis' side put together.
  22. Do yourself a favour MM find something worthwhile to worry about on a fine Sunday afternoon other than your neurosis about Saints players. The picture to worry about is 13 on the OS - see how RL looks into his big brown eyes!
  23. OP we are not a selling club - clearing out the dross club, yes - selling club, no way. Stop giving yourself palpitations. None shalt leave through the window unless they smash the glass first; all the blokes who were good at that have long gone!
  24. Very pleasing result. Top hole!
  25. Dis you mean "come May" without the what?
