I remember being quite excited by his appointment and thought we played reasonably well under his leadership. He had plenty of success at other clubs and like many others I hoped he could bring a little of that magic to St Mary's. That wet night at Derby as others have observed might well have moved the needle but it was not to be. His time here was beset with rumours about his personal life style but that was of no interest to me. Good luck George with your fight against cancer. Have faith and stay positive.

It's on Sky so a lot cheaper relatively and no dodgy streams or embarrassing pop ups.

That's only for the cameras. Most of the rest of the time probably they spend sitting on their arses chatting and larking about. That's the great thing about all being mates together. Sod the bloody training.

Beats me! We tried to rid ourselves of him once but that didn't work out as Bournemouth were no suckers and couldn't be conned. Apparently Martin is….
-
A very bold team selection but Martin does not do bold.

Stevens + Aribo + Smallbone?
-
If people think they are what other people think they are then they are not who they think they should be but who they think they should be is not who they really are. This is why they are unhappy being who they really are.

Smallbone played the part of the invisible man today against England. The only touch he had that I saw went straight to an England player. Woeful performance from him, woeful.

Depends upon what you mean exactly. Both will be in the matchday squad, no question about that.

It would have to include De Bruyne, Rodri, Foden and Haaland………...

Blimey, reading today's ramblings suggests a lot of people are vrey bored this morning with nothing better to do.

There is a pattern developing with the loss of yet another high potential youngster under RM's tutelage. It can't always be the player's fault as many of you seem to imply.
-
Thank goodness we don't have to choose between them, both should start over Smallbone and Aribo. If they're good enough they are old enough. Smallbone owes part of his inclusion in the starting XI to being "one of our own" an epithet that he must share now with Dibling. That advantage has gone so life will be a bit tougher for him now.

Is that fair? We had a new manager, a bunch of new players and a new system for them to learn. After a hesitant start we eventually got into our stride. Had we been able to hit the ground running on day one of the season we might have walked the league.
-
There is nothing wrong with our system of passing the ball back and forth between the goalie and defenders, it's not Martin's fault that our back four seem to be as thick as bricks, have the awareness of a sloth and the judgement of Craig Revel-Horwood. There's nothing difficult about it. Surely there must be some sort of expertise in awareness and reaction training that could be called upon.

Amazing insight after 3 games 😅
-
If only it was that simple. I imagine team selection is a group decision of the coaches not just Martin's whims and fancies.

Should expect a top ten finish this season. that would be the minimum acceptable

Party Pooper!

Chelsea would not have sanctioned his loan if he'd been any good. I thought the same as you about him at Cardiff.
-
My hunch is that Martin will start Fernandes & Arnold but not Dibling or Ugochukwu who will be first and second subs. Sam A-A is close to displacing AA but not just yet. We must be prepared also for the last minute departure of KWP in which case Taylor will get the nod

This was fun to watch, riddled with errors but momnets of sheer brilliance from both sides as well. What an advert for football. Many players getting their first serious outing this season so rustiness was to be expected but on the whole Saints did well. Obviously these players were determined to show their best sides to RM in the hope of breaking through to the first team, some really caught the eye and some first team regulars will not be sitting comfortably this morning. Healthy competition at last all over the pitch. If we can hold on this season without relegation then our future is beginning to look much brighter.

Martin could find a reason not to pick Erlin Haaland
