  1. The fact that he was b.loody useless in a league system that he understood well is supposed to cheer us up? As the quarter finals of the European League demonstrates that EPL is no longer the best league in Europe, it seems Pochettino may be a League 1 manager at best?
  2. 'Plan B' is a euphemism, there is no such thing as a 'plan B'. When all else fails with an adopted approach people call for something different to be done without in most cases having any idea what that might be. Just like the economy, the policy of this government does not seem to be working very well at all so people panic and call for a 'plan B' - but of course there is no 'plan B' or other course of action open that can guarantee a different result in the same period of time. It is all wishful thinking based on an almost divine belief that there exists a perfect solution to all problems that we have yet to discover. Tinkering with our starting line-up and formation isn't really going to change anything now. The league position doesn't lie and all that will work now is discipline and concentration.
  3. Odd to you maybe but actually somebody trying to introduce a sensible debate into a forum that usually is full of repetitive nonsensical speculative drivel.
  4. Communication must be nigh on impossible and it won't be helping, why isn't the bloke speaking English by now? After all what's to learn? "Hoof it up the middle" "Drop back" "Get forward" "Stay wide" "Get stuck in"
  5. The league position doesn't lie!!! It's all about scoring goals not how you play!!!!!! On the day it's eleven versus eleven!!!!!!!!!! We're only as good as our last game!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. It was entirely down to Pochettino & his gang. They've no idea what they're doing. One win from 6! Europe here we come. The Adkins momentum is wearing off now after 6 weeks and it's evident this lot haven't got a clue and we are going backwards. So, Yosh plays on the right for a few weeks does nothing wrong and then "great idea let's move him over to the left again" and bring in Fonte who hasn't played for weeks. What was Rickie up to? OK, Samba man marked him out of the game so why not roam around and drag the bloke out of position instead of just standing there like a spare ***** at a wedding. Frankly he looked knackered from the start. This is going only one way now because as the conviction ebbs away so will our performances and with big home games coming up it cud be a while before we win again. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear!
  7. Exactly what Pardew did and it works because we will always be too far upfield and knackered to chase back. Adkins started like this as well but learned the hard way not to overdo it. Back to square one it seems to me.
  8. Because he's the only one who can string a sentence together without saying "definitely", "we did great", "awesome", "like I said" every five seconds?
  9. To be honest the 'Arry thing is well past it's sell-by date and not worth raising a huff about. He's just another oppo manager, we've seen them all, they come and go. Pathetic too how oppo PL fans still sing the "only one Harry Redknapp" to rile us when most here can hardly remember him or give a stuff. Time to move on everyone!
  10. But scoring in the PL is tops surely?
  11. I guess it is becoming far more difficult to spot "stand out" talent as standards generally improve. I was watching some 5 a side footie at Lymington last night and what struck me was that these ordinary lads were all quite fit, reading the game well and moving the ball around in the Saints style and it was interesting enough to watch for a while; not at all like the apocryphal 'sunday pub football' we all deride so much in our ravings. ...and this was just a bunch of ordinary lads playing in an insignificant Tuesday night junior league game in 'nowheresville' on a cold February evening. Talent scouts have to watch countless hundreds of these games to find even one kid of sufficient promise even to consider for the Academy. I guess word gets around but even so.
  12. Sounds exciting but we are now talking about stepping up to the Premier League which is a huge ask. The Academy seems to be more like a regional centre for player development these days, a bit like a University so don't expect all graduates to want to ply their trade for Saints. The fact that Swansea have Monk & Dyer playing regularly suggests some of our youngsters will only find their breaks elsewhere. Obviously we are very proud of stars like Bale & Walcott and the emergence of Luke Shaw can easily mislead as to the overall quality in the Academy. Truly exceptional players like Luke Shaw will be stars despite the Academy not because of it. Such talent is very rare and we should not expect to find players of his quality with every intake or indeed more than once in every few years.
  13. Too much at stake for both teams and never forget we are Southampton, Kings of the great let-down. 1-1 is my bet. We never win these 'easy' games, more often lose them
  14. At last, somebody who doesn't view everything with rose tinted specs. I fear you are right and Saints will be relegated simply because we throw so many points away from winning positions. Other teams around us are less eye-catching but seem to know better how to win even with less skilful players.
  15. About time! We're on a Swiss roll.
  16. I agree with most of this. This was a poor, poor performance and probably the worst since the Sunderland fiasco. No sign today of the fast passing and moving football that Adders had pretty much perfected and that had bamboozled ManUre & ManC. Very odd team selection and taking off Luke Shaw was a monumental mistake and will have ****ed off the lad for sure - as well as me. Leaving out Puncheon was congenital madness. We seemed today to have stepped backwards, looking fragmented, hapless and uncertain at times. I hope this is not a sign of a wind-down from the Adkins era with nothing to replace it? One game of course but with a 12 pointer next up this is not the time for us to come unstuck and start a period of decline.
  17. It seems to happen more often now and one wonders whether the clubs have got together and decided to force wages down to fall in line with FFP. By not offering contracts to players who clearly want to stay the clubs are saying , "OK, we'd like to sign you too but not at the price you're asking. We'll tell you what we think your worth and what we'll pay" Lampard is in the same boat as Puncheon and it'll be good for football if the clubs gamble and win. Jason can be good but he's not world-class by any means and we can easily find somebody younger and more skilful in the summer if he runs away.
  18. It looks like our new south coast rivals will be Bournemouth, they're playing really well and could win back-to-back promotions... now, we didn't expect that did we. On the other hand we could meet in the nPC although that's looking less likely by the day.
  19. He said six, are you deaf?
  20. Don't talk rubbish, the MotD review was quite fair and Alan Shearer really meant what he said about is being brilliant, you could tell he was proud at that moment to have been a Saint once.
  21. One of the most enjoyable games we've seen at SMS and quite possibly the best Saints performance in their history taking into account the status of the opposition. A privilege to be there and a privilege to see such skill and commitment from the players. Well done everyone at SMS. What a rabbit, what a hat!
  22. Until there is a waiting list for STs the club cannot raise prices too much as their first objective is to sell out with just ST sales. Set prices too high too soon and that objective will not be realised. What will fill the ground is a genuine top four team that neutrals as well as local want to see. Clearly we're not anywhere near that yet. Once that happens and all STs are sold before a ball is kicked pricing will depend exactly on how many people are on a waiting list. That insures the club against losing a few though high pricing by having enough demand to cover any shortfall. The spanner in the works for the club is that until demand for STs is 100% with a significant waiting list there will be no point in building a larger stadium as that would also work against higher pricing but satisfying any latent demand and resulting in less than 100% sales. My hunch is we're OK for another two or three years at the very least with above inflation increases - prices advancing by between 5% and 7% depending on reaction from fans and whether STs sales start going into decline
  23. So not one person has scored it with us going down. This alone makes the whole thing a mockery. Impartial scoring by 30 people or more would statistically result in us going down in at least one table yet not a sign of it here. I'm afraid the old adage still applies - rubbish in / garbage out
  24. You moron why open your gob if you have nothing useful to say
  25. Neutral with a moniker like Saint Scott? Do us a favour!
