  1. Wake-up call, reality check call it what you will we are in the same league as this Chelsea team and we never looked like competing with them. Ok maybe we will never match them for sheer individual quality as it doesn't come cheap and seemingly the West London cossacks have an unlimited pot of gold or is that oil supporting them but we really have to do something in the transfer window and something big? I read that "we will only buy players that will improve us", on today's showing it would be difficult to buy a player who didn't improve us so lamentable were we at times in the second half. We need to spend and spend big if we have ambitions to be anything more than also rans in the PL. As things are right now a loss at Villa and with the inevitable thrashing at Chelsea and probably defeat to Everton to follow we could be bogged down in the bottom three and losing touch. This is not a case of faint hearts, today all our flaws were ruthlessly exposed with many of our players clearly not good enough to compete at the very highest level.
  2. My son lives in St Albans he'll be delighted to know there's another saints fan there. We were up there yesterday and Loch Fyne celebrating a birthday. Great place to live but you must have shedloads of dosh.
  3. So Jack Butland won't be coming and we'll make do with what we've got.... This is the official line. We're stuffed, get ready for 'Uddersfield and Notts Forest
  4. But "we have the best and most loyal fans in the world" according to Nigel so stop being a skinflint and go out .and get behind Nigel and the lads.
  5. No harm in resting old Rick now and again, he's knocking on a bit now and 4 games in 10 days is asking a lot of the old codger.
  6. I called it as a 2-2 so 1-1 ok for me. Guessed our ex-pats wouldn't be up for it here in front of their old home crowd so surprised Wenger started them. I wonder, did they let us "win" so they could have Morgan and Luke on the cheap - how else do you explain their incompetence and our unusual dominance. I'm not allowed to expand further. Now to stuff Benitez & Co.
  7. We tried to play them at their - and our - own game in London and got turned over so what do we do? Saturday proved we can't sit back and contain teams so going all defensive isn't the answer either. It could be highly entertaining... We must try to take the game to them from kick off and hope they have an off day but they don't seem to have many of those these days. I'm guessing a bit of everything will happen, 5.30 ko is an awful time for players so a classic is unlikely and it may prove to be an out-of-sorts 2-2 draw. No doubt Adkins will play his usual taped message afterwards but this time anything we get will be a bonus.
  8. Looks like Brum are inviting us to come and get Jack Buckland for £6M now they're skint. Let's do it as Kelvin is way past ready to be put out to grass on yesterday's showing. He's looking old - sorry mate but time to hang up the old gloves and boots.
  9. WTF is wrong with Adkins, 3-1 up going on 4-1 and he goes all defensive to "protect the win"..... WTF is that all about? Any clown knows you can't defend a lead for 45 mins by just not bothering to play football and let the oppo's come at you time and time again and try to keep them out. The bloke is tactically effing useless and even if he can only see the positives I'm effed if I can and pretty sure Mr Cortese won't either. Unless we do something different pretty soon we are going down the effing tube make no mistake.
  10. Look, we don't know and won't know. Haven't you learned anything? NC does not discuss business matters in public and certainly not with fans. JP will sign for 4 years have no fear...
  11. Yep! Especially as most clubs have never heard of Lallana and couldn't give a stuff whether he's on the pitch or not. Hardly a guy who gives the oppos sleepless nights is he?
  12. All Saints supporters who lived and breathed the "27 years" mostly only knew of mid-table mediocrity and occasionally escaping relegation by the skins of our teeth so what would de different? We are a small town team and that's about our place in the scheme of things. Of course, we'd all like things to be better than that but as long as we can banish the fear of relegation as a repetitive feature of every season then many would settle for that at least over the next few years. Europe football doesn't interest me at all and by all accounts doesn't interest very many fans outside Manchester & London judging by attendance's and team selections. Ok so I'm an older fan whose boyhood memories are full of Magpies and Throstles and Wolves who were once great teams but I still get far more kicks from the anticipation of a Wearsiders visit than Steaua Bucharest or Levski Sofias or any number of anonymous football teams from Europe's minor leagues.
  13. Come on lads, show a bit more imagination we don't want other people's misfits and journeymen we want top class young stars-in-the-making of around 22/23. Sterling for starters although one suspects Puncheon is better at the moment, oh and Walcott and I'm serious he'll be on a free soon.
  14. Nah! The whole of Surrey is closer to Fulham and Palace.
  15. Good job I'm not a bloody cynic otherwise this would smell of rampant bloody commercialism to sell yet more bloody shirts... What's the funny point anyway as we'll get slaughtered by the mob from South London so it'll be a one off wearing. My advice... save your scarce and hard to come by money. Don't get suckered! The final insult will be when we get to play in all-blue.
  16. No it doesn't, stay behind for detention silly boy!
  17. existing at or from the beginning of time; primeval:WTF RU ON?
  18. Guly would be a good signing!
  19. Probably a bit too simplistic. There has been a general all round improvement in our defensive effort probably some new people or thinking behind the scenes rather than player changes or managers working miracles.
  20. The fat lady is not ready to do her turn yet......
  21. Saw Jo Tessem and Michael Svensson in West Quay at lunchtime.. what are they doing here? Happy to pose for pics, they still look like young kids and have kept in good shape... Rumour machine engage!
  22. The battle of the development squads. Can't wait... let's run that again, development squads FFS who wants to watch that load of old crap?
  23. This game may well be the decider for Nigel & Co, perhaps only a decisive win good enough. Draw or lose and both results are possible against a stubborn Reading side and Cortese's patience may snap. If he is in the mood to change things around he'll have to decide very soon otherwise like Nigel's late substitutions - nearly always too late to effect the outcome - he will have forfeited the chance of saving us. We are into December and the squeaks are starting to escape. For me this is another 1-1 at best.
  24. Did you watch? Otherwise spouting rubbish.
