SAINTS 0-3 West Bromwich Albion // Post-Match Reaction
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Pochettino and his coaches must take much of the blame for not reading the game, choking off the threats and changing tactics to counter WBA's. It's all very well blaming the players for everything but it was clear early on that WBA were getting on top by playing fast through balls along the ground and over the top and that they were super fit and had pace. Our composure and morale dropped after that stupid first goal and mistakes crept in everywhere. One of the problems seems to have been all the hype amongst the players before the match about how "we owed 'em one" "we're out to show them how good we've become since last time" etc. Once they believed that their mindset couldn't cope with the reality of a WBA side who were real class and on their game and frankly a far better side than Saints. As always we should follow the mantra, "Never underestimate the opposition". Obviously we did and as a result didn't bother to do our homework and preparation properly. You don't win matches by talking crap about how good you are day-after-day, you study how the opposition play and make sure you can deal with it as well as practising playing your own game for the periods when you are on top. This is down to Mr Pochettino and his pals as well, who seemed to me to sit on their arses in a grey suited row for far too long chatting a lot but not actually doing anything. One would guess that the first notch has been etched on Nicola Cortese's shot-gun. Plenty of manager's around after all!!! We haven't suddenly become a bad team but when things go wrong it usually takes a while to lift players and get the machine working properly again. If we get turned over next week by Spurs we could end the season on a real low; maybe getting only one more point at home to Stoke. It could still be close but luckily it is unlikely that all the teams below us will suddenly click and win everything. At least we have the points and they don't, playing catch-up at this stage of the season is never easy. I'm sure we will stay up but in the usual Saints way -
Nah, stop being a misery!

Bugger me, I didn't know we have plans to expand to 200,000

Swansea 0-0 SAINTS // Post-Match Reaction

One of the easiest scoreline predictions of the season with two teams playing similar style football at about the same tempo. Not sure what went wrong today 'though as we never offered a goal threat all afternoon. -
Red and White Stripes Black Shorts next year
Charlie Wayman replied to Horton Heath Saint's topic in The Saints
Nothing wrong with our Swiss kit for another season. I like it and stripes look outmoded and the strip of choice by goofball football clubs heading for the trap door. No association with failure for me. -
As the title says... Pointless

Best to ignore idiots in the press rather than fall into the trap of legitimising their waffle by discussing it

SAINTS 1-1 West Ham // Post-Match Reaction
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
No criticism please chaps, the conditions were appalling and probably most of them were frozen to the marrow and asleep on their feet by half-time. It's easy to shout "They're all bloody professionals!" but on day's like this having to hack it outdoors in driving rain and freezing gales isn't a picnic for anybody. In the end we had the game and the score that seems to me to have been inevitable. They should have postponed it to a nicer day but the PL don't do common sense like cricket. Steven Davis is blossoming under Pochettino and although he'll never be accused of subtlety he is a fighter and tidy and a fitting member of our skilful and ever enterprising midfield. MotM for me and great work from Gaston also who is gradually settling into this foul climate of ours. Fox had some good runs forward but as always gives us the heebie-jeebies when trying to defend. Not a complete player but OK yesterday. -
This will be a romp in the park, we are far too classy for these artisan barrow boys... 4-1, Easy, easy, easy!

Is extending the ground at the end of next season actually true?
Charlie Wayman replied to Roger's topic in The Saints
The key test is the quality of the loos and the food outlets. Both are crap at The Emirates and Wembley and no better than what is on offer at SMS. I'm amazed we don't get hit by plague epidemics with all that lack of good hygiene. Old scouser fans always wore welly boots to matches at Anfield and for very good reasons; many will remember with 'fondness' using the Dell Loo's in the rain... but that's probably too much information. -

You can't leave it there, who told you that? Surely a guide wouldn't know such confidential information? -
It was probably people voting with they feet. No dsirepect to Nigel but replacing MacDermott with him was hardly a signal of intent for the future. They are supposed to have a megabucks Russian owner but there is no sign of having much more backing or ambition than any other English second tier club - might as well be Huddersfield, nice stadium no footballers.

Saints 2 Reading 0 - Post Match Reactions
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Poor match and an indifferent performance from Saints. Much too casual and sloppy. Too easy for us and 'yes' "you can only beat what's in front of you" but we should have done much better. Some of the defensive panic was undignified and needs sorting out. This is a poor league and we are becoming one of the better teams so things are looking good for next season especially as Cardiff, Hull & Watford seem ill-equipped to stay at this level assuming they come up from a even poorer nPC. I fancy Saints & Swansea for top eight next season. -
Confirms what we already knew. Other clubs will know all about Le Bleu as well but as long as he is content here he won't move. After all he stayed loyal throughout the lower leagues stints when others of equal talent would have buggered off - except of course that there aren't many others of equal talent. I am sure Lowe brought him in to make money later so we should be glad that he is a million miles away. Hopefully, we'll be bidding for Arsenal players in the close season and really putting the **** up Wenger, what a reversal that would be!

L'Equipe bang the drum for a Schneiderlin call-up
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Always told you he was the new Pires.. ya, ya! -
Hang on! Don't under-estimate Jos Hooiveld. Jos was a superb player for Celtic in the CL and can easily hack it at that level. Why do you think Forren & Fonte are sitting on the bench? They are not injured so that must tell you something surely?
-
Easy! Easy! We'll win the league next year.
-
So a £100 bet on us for the chop could be worth £2 grand? Not bad, maybe worth a punt?
-
Brilliant stuff SFC, just keep them coming. Obviously we are not allowed to see any actual footie but does it matter to Sky after the event? Come on let's include some of the exciting on field action as well.

Adkins to look at Saints for transfer targets?
Charlie Wayman replied to SO16_Saint's topic in The Saints
Of course he can't sign anybody until July so not much point in speculating wildly. Whoever is released here may be targets but let's wait until our retention list is published first.
