Premier League? You're having a laugh! Ho! Ho! Ho! ...lloway

So Palace & Hull confirmed to go down. Stoke or Sunderland to join them, maybe even Fulham who's time must be up?

Why on earth would Cortese want to be tied in with Lotus-Renault, more likely Red Bull if they are allowed to sponsor soccer. Alcohol, tobacco & confectionary businesses are off limits for sports companies but not sure where an energy drink fits.

Anyone interested in half share in ST in Northam
Charlie Wayman replied to ladysaint's topic in The Saints
Nope. Is it 'legal' under the Ts & Cs of sales? What's a numpty, by the way? -
Idle, speculative rubbish.

Dean Hammondd is a great box-to-box player like Jack Cork but less mobile and with less stamina. He's played really well for the Seagulls and almost helped them into the PL. Had he done so it would have been bitter irony for the lad if Brighton had also taken the view that he isn't good enough for the PL. Age is against him but he deserves a crack at it surely, just look at how Rickie responded to all those taunts of not being up to it. Alas the modern Saints don't do sentiment and it is more likely we'll end up with a bus load of La Liga senors. Let's hope the Brits don't get marginalised and we end up like Gooners or Manky with hardly a local lad on the team sheet.

Harry's got an interest there and mates.

Are Stoke the ugliest 'football' team in the Premier?
Charlie Wayman replied to Norm's topic in The Saints
I thought they will be one of the three going down next year even before Pullis was sacked. Thank goodness he's gone they are diabolically awful -
Martin Samuel is no fool. His job is to ask questions and provoke responses. If anybody on here really thinks that what he has written is anything other than an invitation to headstrong foolishness then they should read "The Prince" instead of spending all their time boozing and boring people to death at their local pubs.

SAINTS 1-1 Stoke City // Post-Match Reaction
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I hope so, it has been quite sad to watch Adam this season performances spiralling downwards becoming more and more frustrated with himself as his dancing tricks always seem to end up in comedy moments with him on the floor and the ball safely with the opposition. We know he can be a match winner when it all comes together but at this level he may be a luxury that we cannot afford except perhaps as an impact player for 20 mins. The great weight of expectation has been on his shoulders for years whilst he has not had the best of luck with injury and fitness, so all this may have taken its toll mentally. Still, he's been a great servant of the club so they need to pull out all the stops to get his undoubted talent working properly again. -
SAINTS 1-1 Stoke City // Post-Match Reaction

What can you say? We stay up but not convincingly, another mediocre performance and yet another boring draw. Is this how it will be in the PL from now on? Only Steve Davies & Jack Cork really wanted it the others mostly coasting to their summer hold. I hope Pochettino has more about him than this but it's becoming a depressingly familiar for our team to toil and huff and puff without getting anywhere in particular. ...and we always go a goal down before we concentrate our minds. Too much of this and one can see Mr Cortese becoming quite impatient. Christmas will be the test if new players and a full pre-season doesn't bring about a step change in our fortunes. I'll be here next season hopefully, provided that The Family are not too greedy with their demands on our pockets. A 20% hike without a 20% improvement in performance will not seem like good value. If Luke Shaw leaves that will also affect my decision. What will be the point if we intend only ever to be a feeder club. -
So who would we want in if MP does go ?
Charlie Wayman replied to Saints boy in Leeds's topic in The Saints
End of thread I hope mods! -
Great news but I wish he had acknowledged the unwavering support of fans during this whole debacle. Come on Nicola we are a huge part of "all one united" in our endeavours as well as "everyone at the club". When it mattered we, the fans, were with you all the way.

Will be great to get back to League 1 again won't it... all those 4 goal thrashings of minnows... Loved it!

Here, here!

Really? What a quaint old world you live in. Even twenty-five years ago I knew of guys who received new company cars the day they were made redundant. People like Cortese have no sentiment in their bodies but I can live with that as long as he's the best at what he does and he is probably.
-
Typical of the Echo to stick the effing knife in at every opportunity. I hope Cortese stays and continues to stick two big fat ones up at them. This is one of the many reasons why I don't buy that useless rag anymore.
-
Spin this any way you want, it is not good news and will unsettle everyone who works at or supports the club. We must hope any issues are resolved quickly. I dread the thought of this guy walking away. Stabilty and Saints seem to have little in common except the letter 'S'

Sunderland 1-1 SAINTS // Post-Match Reaction
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
A tired display all round. This looked like typical end-of-season stuff when everyone is knackered and brain dead and fed up with being harassed by loud-mouthed know-alls in the coaching area, when all they are wanting to do is have a few lazy days getting up late with sod-all training to do and a nice warm sunny beach to lie on for a couple of months. A totally inept display that rather suggests that this squad has reached it's limits of imagination and performance. Our sudden inability to score also confirms that other teams have cracked us and we don't have any answers. Second season syndrome beginning to set in? If things aren't changed this summer we will struggle next season. We are nowhere near being the finished article. -
Billy Sharp - is he eligible to play for us now
Charlie Wayman replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
The problem with that is what happens in the other 85 minutes as he wanders around looking for something to do. Lambert is always trying to find positions from which threats can be launched whilst Rodrigues will go after the ball and try to do something with it. Billy Sharp is great running in the channels and foxing the box but it means other people have to do extra work to set him up. This is one luxury our style of play doesn't suit or warrant. PL defences surely won't find it too difficult to read his game and stop him easily. -
I sense people are getting a bit frustrated with Lallana on here. Full of promise but never seemingly quite able to deliver. I love the boy but he seems to have a tendency to flip into 'headless chicken' mode under pressure.
-
He's a greedy bugger isn't he, had he kept his cool and not tried to do everything on his own Wigan might have scored 4. Not the sort of player we want.
