Defo Ricky who was head down every time he went down the tunnel on Sunday and we were all talking about it at the time, not at all like him. Best not to speculate about private lives but new contract could be an issue or the lack of one?
-
If we lose 2 or even all 3 of the next 3 - which let it be said is quite possible and not at all unlikely - it will be very difficult for Pochettino to defend his position; Cortese will be in effect be forced to take some sort of action to stop the rot. This may be too soon to appoint a new manager even for our Master Strategist but no doubt the process is now in full swing in earnest. Bookies favourite is our old friend Roberto de Matteo so don't be surprised to see him here around January 13/14th.

In more positive news - the Academy...
Charlie Wayman replied to Lallana's Left Peg's topic in The Saints
Wonder who decides when the kids are ready and which ones? Is it obvious and foolproof or do we lose some through the net because the coaches don't know how to get the best from them? -
But it's the same for everyone and Spurs were not at full strength either. We are told continually that PL football is a squad game so it's no excuse that some regulars are out injured and other squad members have to step up. Truth is we are limited taking all that into account. Deal with real world facts old chum not your dreamworld facts. This is the team that we have for this season no amount of wishful thinking will change matters.

All at sea today. This side is beginning to look distinctly limited an dthe better teams are finding us out. Disappointed in he coaches who seemed paralysed into inaction when we needed some fresh approach to get us moving. Only Lallana and Chambers can hold their heads high tonight, the rest were awful or ****ged out depending on your perspective. Ricky's whole body language was wrong from the get-go so assume he had a ding-dong with his missus yesterday, he was certainly absent on duty and seemingly in a foul mood all afternoon.

Guess which twit went to the match today? No prizes, got effing soaked as well. Place was absolutely deserted but then it was Spurs so no clues there. Thought I'd share this story to give you all a laugh on a sodden miserable day

Please promise her that she will never ever have to go with you to St Mary's, take her to Marwell or Peppa Pig World or the Southampton Art Gallery but never SMS!

Quiet day so let's invent some arbitrary stats.

Vincent Tan tells Malky Mackay to resign - or he'll be sacked
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
What a misguided idiot you are, just that.. I suppose you think its funny to trot out xenophobic nonsense like this -
Really glad they're giving STH's a chance to buy their own seats before other buggers get hold of them.

How Southampton's unsung hero is emerging as their key man
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Here we go again another snide snipe at Ricky Lambert who has been a greater asset to this club over the past few years than anybody else you could mention. What is wrong with people like you who seem only to do down our players. -
Julio Cesar: I want Money, Cortese: Up your Kazoo.

Joe Hart must be first choice surely. -
Failed at Chelsea, failed at Spurs... oh! dear hope he has another skill or profession to fall back on other than "football manager". I should think Big Sam will be next through the revolving door and quite soon... and never rule out an early Pochettino exit either, can't imagine Signor Cortese had 10th place in mind as part of his 5 year world domination vision.
-
You, sir need to stop thinking about anything if this depressingly pathetic tripe is all that your brain can come up with.
-
What we don't want to do now is lose one of these two kids because they can't get a start when fit. Chambers is a big lad so why not convert him to a right side mid fielded to take over from the old warhorses Jos and Jose? Then we can play both and no problem even more academy boys ion the perm.

Don't be Daft

He's probably been a regular for 50 years and deserving of respect for just getting up there every week despite his obvious difficulties of older age. Remember at heart he is just like you or me, a glassy eyed kid wishing on the moon for a Saints win and a contented evening with pipe and slippers in his favourite armchair and excited by the prospect of re-living his oh so recent memories on MotD. A happy man indeed. It's not a case of your future, this is his present the body may become less reliable but spirit remains the same... Forever a Saint!

I agree with you about giving the Schneiderlin-Cork partnership a chance to flourish again. They were good last season before Wanyama came here and did not have the benefit of Louvren marshalling the back four behind them so we have never seen a like v like comparison. Results tell plenty but sometimes it seems Schneiderlin & Wanyama do not click although as individuals they are both pretty good players. Schneiderlin has the better vision and perception of the three whilst Cork and Wanyama seem to be similar energetic box-to-box players but my guess is that Cork is more effective in tackles and concedes fewer fouls.

In our part of the Itchen we have reasoned discussions about matters all the time, no disagreements we try to see other peoples points of view and are far too mature and refined to speak loudly and offend others. We are really rather nice smug buggers. Amazing what nasty little oiks can turn out like later in life.

Looks a nailed on certainty for a 1-1.
-
Does anybody take Savage seriously? Only the BBC it seems but the bloke is a clueless brain dead idiot (IMHO of course). I would say we should look out for him at SMS dare he show himself here after this insulting commentary. His derogatory implications of our Club should be in the same category as racism and the bloke should be kicked off air for good. Make the bugger go out and earn a proper living.

They'll field their third team as they will prioritise automatic from the Championship. 4-1 to Saints, when's the 4th Round Draw?

Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 1-1 Manchester City
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Cork must stay in after this performance alongside his old buddy Schneiderlin and Clyne will have to bust a gut to displace Chambers again and how good is it to have a battler like Steve Davis to fall back on. Despite their stars and a mild afternoon which should have suited them, City were second best all match. There's no harmony there and clearly none of them give a toss about Man City as a club, they do enough for your dosh and wait for the next lucrative transfer. Since we are about to supply half the England team why not sign Joe Hart in January, he's just the right age for our team and ha stye type of attitude that would fit in well here. Keep it up Saint's. Corky MotM by a mile! -
Um! Should get a GP appointment first thing on Monday if I were you.
-
Just one to endure really. Having said that I may not bother either having no interest whatsoever in the mercenaries who play under the guise of Man City who seem to spend most of their time sucking their wrists. It's not that I don't want to watch Saints reserves today but what's the point when the outcome is such a foregone conclusion
