The invincibles have transforment into the unconvincibles. Russ has been sussed! Simple as that.

"returning to the grass", "crossing the white line" ... Cliche season is well and truly upon us..

We are really getting into the silly season now and it's becoming harder by the minute to determine who is being ironic and who is not. I'll give you the wink!😉 So we play with Tigers and Lions in the same week. We've had one mauling so let's hope we aren't in for another... Nah! 4-0 to Saints, we will put them back in their cage and lock the door.

Manning is getting a lot of stick for his performance on Tuesday but the first goal was down to KWP. Off the ball their left winger ran inside and Kyle went with him leaving a huge hole behind him for their left back to exploit - and he did - received the ball in acres of space and then passed it inside for the goal scoring opportunity.

I hate Millwall so will skip this match. Strong memories of when their fans ran riot in Hill Lane way back in the day and damaged so many parked cars. Delinquent sods, never forgiven them, never will.
-
Manning may be not very good technically but at least tonight he fought tooth and nail to win every challenge and never gave up until the final whistle. A few others could take a lesson or two from him. He was far from being our worst player tonight. I agree with you about Rothwell, he doesn't suit our playing style at all. Send him back to Bournemouth.

This was an absolutely abysmal performance and fans have every right to be annoyed and exasperated. It looks like curtains for the automatic spots and even if we make the play-offs there are at least two better teams than us with an eye on Wembley. Once again we were out-thought and out-fought and lacked the vision to change things around to our advantage. Another night to forget, that's two from three. We don't have the luxury of a game in hand anymore either. The going is getting tough…...

...or Substract-zee according to one's take on him.

They do realise that most of the top 8 are below us and they will be too if we see off the Tigers on Tuesday evening. We can only beat teams below us!
-
Obviously a must win and if we play as well as we did on Friday we will win. WBA seem to be a more accomplished and resolute side than Hull yet we completely dismantled them step by step. I realise form doesn't always work out that way as we saw with Bristol City yesterday but our performance at The Hawthorns must give real encouragement to our lads that they can overcome Hull in much the same way - and they will be at home. My bet is 3-0 to Saints and a blissfully happy evening out for 30k Sotonians.

Easy to claim irony after you have been called out 😉😂

Where's Smallbone this evening? Is he even on the bench?
-
Still awaiting your pre match prognosis Wade.
-
Miserable you! Cheer up and get behind our team. Imagine they are the Tories of Kettering and we are Labour coming to get them and we are going to give them a damn good thrashing!
-
I can't agree with you at all. Tuesday night's performance had nothing to do with complacency or any lack of commitment but everything to do with fatigue and exhaustion. Where have you seen any sign of complacency or lack of commitment under Russell Martin's watch?

We have not become a bad team overnight lads, keep the faith. The next unbeaten run of 25 matches starts tomorrow . 4-2 to Saints.

Agree totally bloody daft decision. Martin seems compelled to play his on loan players for reasons that are beyond me, especially as half of them won't be here next season. Fraser was invisible last night and neither of the Bournemouth lads did much of note.

The result and performance were a huge disappointment for fans after our recent success but there seemed to have been something amiss from the start last night. The lack of pace, the lack of creativity, the unwillingness to run into space for passes and the sloppy passing suggested physical and emotional fatigue following the exertions of Saturday afternoon. We just seemed lazy and half-hearted. Unsurprisingly we were comprehensively out-thought and out played by a much better and brighter team on the night. Even, may I dare say it, Liam Manning was the better coach. He had us sussed out completely and countered pretty much every tactic that Russell Martin tried to employ. Their defence was superbly drilled and we just didn't have the guile to find a way through it. There is little doubt that Bristol City on last night's showing - and in that of their previous match - will be serious promotion contenders. As for us, we need to get back on track with the fast slick passing football that annihilated Swansea recently; what better team to demonstrate a reaction on than a rival promotion candidate WBA.

He's always succinct and to the point and far more concise than Russell Martin.

It must be the loneliness of your occupation that has turned you into a manic depressive.

All we have to do is keep winning. Control the controllable, as the pundits would say. We don't need to spend all our time worrying about what the others might or might not do. We win, win, win, we go up, simples!

Sekou Mara - Official: Signs for Strasbourg
Charlie Wayman replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
Put it this way, Adams has done nothing special to justify his automatic selection as main striker. Sekou Mara deserves his chance, there is a flair about the lad that more than. hints at a star player in the making. Players don't get picked for their national teams at any level if they don't have real potential. -
It was pretty obvious yesterday that from the minute Downes went off our midfield command disappeared and blooming great holes appeared all over the middle of the pitch which they right royally exploited. Whoever was supposed to take over his role failed abysmally. We can't put Smallbone in there again so it has to be Charles and we must trust him and get behind him. No question there is a player in there and this has to be his time to step up to plate. I'll have a word with Russ! A strategy of relying on out-scoring the opposition would be suicidal fun.

Agree except your nonsensical comment about Brooks. He was never in the game today.

What a wonderful time to be a Saints fan. Thank you lads for one of the most entertaining afternoons that I've ever enjoyed at a football ground. Buzzing. We really are developing a fabulous team, the future looks very bright indeed. Well done Russell Martin and his troop of magicians for pulling that rabbit out of a hat..
