Hull 0 Saints 1 - Post Match & MOTM Poll
Charlie Wayman replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
We only win 1-0! 1 point from safety, phew. -
What are you implying old chap?
-
A bit arbitrary OP, what kind of response did you expect other than derision? I'm sure though that the Liebherr Family will have taken full note of your concerns and will be in touch soon...

Will any of you be tracking / keeping an eye on Osvaldo ?

Very disappointing and very frustrating. I wish Stoke would get relegated so we don't have to watch them again. Mourinho is right, how can this be the best league in the world with teams like Stoke involved? Everything that is wrong with English football was on display today from the team from up north. Jack Cork probably MotM today but few really played well. Luke Shaw missing all day and Clyne all at sea. One to forget but if Stoke visit next season I'll be staying away.

Cork must start. Clyne will start as Chambers probably needs some healing time.

The word "gaffer" gets on my tits. This is 2014 and nobody uses the word 'gaffer' except foreign footballers learning the colloquial English favoured by such loveable out-of-touch personalities as "Big Sam" & "Our 'Arry" from a bygone age. People who say 'gaffer' should have sticky grey tape stuck over their mouths. -
It's catch 22 for clubs who try to move things forward. Build a decent stadium and bankrupt the club seems to be the rule. Seems unfair that Man C, Hull City & West Ham can move into new stadia built by the state and get away with paying rent only and mort saddling themselves with crippling debt.

Saints long term deal with adidas to be terminated?
Charlie Wayman replied to doggface's topic in The Saints
The only problem with stripes is that rubbish teams like Stoke & Sunderland play in them as well. Frankly having not had them for a few seasons I'd hate for us to back to them. They represent the Saints of old, hard-up, scrambling around for survival and selling our best kids for profit. No thanks. I like our red kit, maybe last season's a bit more than this but let's stay as we are. -
I guess you are competent enough to have wound us up?
-
It should be 3-0 but whether it will be or not depends entirely which Saints team turns up on Saturday. If we get the first half against Arsenal Saints + the second half against Fulham Saints it could be 5-0.
-
If you were a regular in 2003 then you wouldn't need to pose the question. In 2013/14 we are in the very privileged position of watching the Best Saints side Ever.

Bullshine par excellence! I love it. A perfect recipe indeed.
-
Of course, because he didn't get sold in the transfer window - as half the people on here suggested he would be and should be... past his best etc crap. Glad he stuffed their words down their throats. I'll bet they're all Ricky fans again now!
-
Wishful thinking old lad, Wanyama was a liability got himself booked looked all at sea so he had to come off. He's no better than Cork so why change things around?
-
uPt a Cork in it! What a difference he made to Schneiderlin and the whole team after the break. How could Pochettino have left him out? Also good to see Clyne back in as much as we love Chambers. For once a crap first half followed by a brilliant second but a great win and it could / should have been more. Great stuff from Staplewood. COYR

At the time he was signed did he not say he couldn't believe how much money we would pay him? Then he found out just how hard he had to train! Who else turns up at the workplace (training ground) with his girl friend / missus in tow, shows what he was thinking... this is a doddle, swan around play a few games get a load of dosh... what's not to like. Poor old Jose, first it's Pardew then this clown.
-
Don't hold your breath. Too many smiles around the training ground yesterday to suggest anybody is about to leave. Also difficult to integrate a new player before it will have an impact on performance, best left to summer now.
-
He's played in the PL twice so must be quite a lot better than most on here allow credit. As far as I can see he was caught out of position about as often as Shaw, Clyne & Chambers - it's what happens when full backs are asked to bomb forward but they don't have the pace to get back against the counter attacks. He didn't really have the benefit of Louvren covering him as Shaw does so let's not get too out of context about his positional play especially as both goals against on Tuesday night came from errors against their right wing attacks and Fox wasn't playing. Footballers do love playing football, that's why they are footballers. Only a numbskull would suggest that they enjoy life on easy street by being paid to train and sit on the bench in the rain every match day.

Yoshi has a big chance now to shine and secure his international place. He knows that and he will deliver. Too much face to lose in Japan if he doesn't take the opportunity presented to him now. In Japan it is socially unacceptable to lose face.

+ bloody one!

One of the best games ever at SMS, a thrilling encounter between two of the best tippy-tappy footballing side in the country. Felt a bit sorry for the new whizz kid missing from two yards with what could have been the match winner. Chambers was awesome, Morgan imperious and Corkie & Davis tigerish. This was no fluke and we should be higher up the league than 9th. We still give away sloppy goals, Jay is a liability in our own box and we need to keep him out of it. Poor old Ward-Prowse just couldn't get up to the pace of the game coming on late. On this showing by Arsenal I am even more convinced that Chelsea will win the PL this year simply because they sussed our game and neutralised our threat after the break, whereas Arsene-al did not.
-
Boruc looked very rusty at Sunderland and could have done better for both their goals whereas Davis is a great shot stopper - our keeper is probably going to need to stop a lot of shots tomorrow night
-
Davis - Clyne - Fonte - Yoshida - Shaw - Cork - Schneiderlin - Davis - Lambert - Rodrigues - Lallana Self selecting on form of last two matches.

Should we rename St Mary's to The Liebherr Arena?
Charlie Wayman replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
I guess the answer must be that perhaps the opportunity has gone by. Maybe if/when the stadium is upgraded as per the published glossy pics then maybe that would be the right thing to do. Right now I'd call for the Itchen to be renamed The Marcus Liebherr Stand - in fact they should have down it long ago.
