Josh Sims signs Professional contract at Southampton
Charlie Wayman replied to Lallana's Left Peg's topic in The Saints
Or James Ward-Prowse... why do you and so many others conveniently forget to mention our other rising young England star? He's having a remarkable season playing in a position where we are almost spoilt for choice so don't underestimate how good he must be just to get on the team sheet. Pochettino is no idiot and won't play people he doesn't trust to deliver. -
What is the situation regarding visits to look over the new facilities or is it too top secret and out of bounds to mere peasants like STHs? Is it still possible to roll up and watch training these days or is that also taboo?
-
Is he really Harry? Do you know him personally? I thought his name was Harrison and ben if he agreed to the use of an Anglo-Saxon abbreviation certainly it would not be Harry.

OP, stop worrying! We are very much aware of how lucky we are. OK everyone watched last night's game on ITV; ManUre were unimaginative and flat footed and couldn't pass for toffee and in comparison made Saints look like Barcelona. They didn't lose 'though and it proves you need more than pretty passing and possession to win football matches, which is what they nearly did if that completely useless t.wat of a twit Welbeck hadn't screwed up more than once on gimmies. They had a game plan, stuck to it with discipline and got a result ... pretty it wasn't but then again for all the favourable stats Bayern looked predictable as well with endless cross field passing in front of ManUre. Ferdinand & Vidic played a blinder and we too will find it difficult to find a way through if they recapture that form. The test will come on May 11th at SMS when once again goofball could be the order of the day from the visitors.

Are we just accepting shaw will leave in summer?
Charlie Wayman replied to Roger's topic in The Saints
The denials are unnecessary, anybody who has been paying attention will have picked up all the signals coming from Luke all season. He is a young guy in a group of young guys with whom he has grown up, they are like one big happy family all hugs and kisses and they are all doing well together at a club that is happy from top to bottom, no uncertainties, no infighting, no politics, everyone focussed on us being he Best in the land. Can you really imagine an 18 year old in that situation wanting to walk away from all his mates and start again with a bunch of weirdo strangers at a different club, most of whom will operate in cliques hard to break into, no mates, no real friends, away from home for the first time, not guaranteed he'll fit in with them or management, not guaranteed a starting place in a team of fading prima donnas who are no better than Saints... and you've already been capped by England probably will go to the World Cup, probably earning as much as he would get elsewhere and so on. It is obvious he loves it here with his pals. If in two or three years or so our project has failed for whatever reason then he will still be a very young man with vast experience, 50 caps and still a choice of any club he waits should he EVER want to leave. Fans have to start thinking like top club fans if they want us to be a top club, a bit of arrogance, a bit of swagger and a great deal of confidence in themselves and the Club not like a bunch of snivelling, apologetic humble peasants who should be grateful for any crumbs of comfort that drop from the tables of the high and mighty... We are Southampton, WE ARE the best! Think success, this is THE place to be. That's how our lads think, that's what we must believe. -
Financial results for year ending 30 June 2013
Charlie Wayman replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Why raise the Shaw matter yet again when it is clear he plans to stay for at least 2 more years. Stop worrying and enjoy the meal we are being served. Tomorrow will take care of itself. -
Brilliant player who has blossomed under MP. Just proves that Brit players have the talent but what they suffer from is crap managers and crap coaches teaching crap football - our kids deserve better.

Did you see that run on goal near the end. The boy is magic. Following the footsteps of Adam winning the JPT? Bet he's back here in a couple of years. He is ours and is only on loan.

Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Thanks lads for the most entertaining match at SMS this year. Wonderful to watch. -
A team just about good enough to beat Carlisle. Wow!

What wiill happen to the next generation Academy lads.?
Charlie Wayman replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
It is an easy mistake to make to assume that because we have found one or two pearls every oyster will contain one. What may happen is that because of its recent successes more really promising young lads might prefer to come to our Academy than go elsewhere, just like top Uni's for example. So if better kids come in then the overall level of grads should improve. The downside is that many of these kids may have little emotional connection with our Club or ambition to play for it. In which c axe the Academy becomes and entity in its own right, churning out the very best talent in the country but from an intake that also spans the whole country. Simply put, if a lad wants to get on then it may become the situation the SFC Academy is the only place to be. Would then many or indeed many of the Saints 'owned' lads at the Academy might gradually get squeezed out? -
Not a very deep thought 'though. We have five players who might be good enough for top 4 status whereas the top 4 clubs have 25 each. It's the lack of quality in depth that has shifted us this season and will continue to do so even if none of our kids leave.

Arsenal want £10m Chambers - London Evening Standard
Charlie Wayman replied to Lallana's Left Peg's topic in The Saints
Typical of Arsenal and the other "big" clubs, they do EFF all to develop young British players despite FIFA aims for every team to have a proportion of home grown talent but but are arrogant enough to think that all they have to do is cream off the talent from more progressive clubs when they feel like it and when the political timing demands. Let's say b0ll0cks to them all. Walcott & Chamberlain would be twice the players they are now if they'd stayed here and yes I know we needed the dosh at the time.... Time for the little clubs to take a stand and refuse to play their nasty little game, who knows maybe what has happened to Manure will soon happen to all of them and we'll have a PL that is genuinely competitive. -
Article on Claus and his post Football struggles
Charlie Wayman replied to KelvinsRightGlove's topic in The Saints
Thankfully he seems to have had the mental strength to get through it so let's hope he can keep it together from now on. Others have tried and failed in their rehabilitation as is well documented. Claus must learn to realise that he owes it to his wife and kids to look forwards to new challenges rather than resent the fact that his past life as a star footballer exists now only as part of history. Good luck Claus in your battle and remember all Saints fans are with you all the way. Sometimes it is worth remembering who are the ones who really care about you. -

Complaint against Peter Schmeichel's on MOTD2

Complaint against Peter Schmeichel's on MOTD2
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint_John's topic in The Saints
I was horrified by his remarks which the main presenter made no attempt to head off. Totally agree with you but has the damage been done already? Not sure what the BBC can do now except make sure the biased idiot Dane never appears on MotD again. -
No opinions of your own then? Cheap and easy to knock others but at least they have passion and care about our team? If you have nothing to add then sod off!
-
A complete bloody disgrace. We looked like a load of Sunday league players in the second half and pretty poor ones at that. Fonte is an utter effing Plank. I feel sorry for the poor sods who made their way up to WHL to have to watch that load of donkey droppings.

Mauricio Pochettino in talks over new contract
Charlie Wayman replied to goneawol's topic in The Saints
Typically, The Telegraph try to spoil things for us as usual tempering the rumoured good news with their snide aside that Shaw & Lallana will leave whatever MP decides to do. All b.llocks of course, any fool can work out that if MP stays they will all stay for at least one or two more years. -
What is your honest opinion on safe standing?
Charlie Wayman replied to kwsaint's topic in The Saints
As was proved tragically in the seventies and eighties safe standing is a contradiction in terms. As always with Health & Safety Issues, quite a lot of idiots need to be saved form their own follies. You should all accept this is one decision that will never be reversed. Far too risky for the FA & the Clubs in our modern day legal climate. Anyway, I am against standing. -
Have you seen a doctor about this form of madness?

Don't you just love Ricky Lambert & Adam Lallana. Always the right words in all situations. Every word genuinely from the heart. Two of the greatest ambassadors for football in the country.
