So now people are speaking double dutch? Is this the price of Dutch management? I agree with the sentiment of others... WTFAYTA
-
Mine arrived today, for this concerned about extravagance the presentation is not on the same level as last years and sadly, the well-meaning letter from RK and booklet made me cringe.
-
Have you been measured up for your coffin yet? It seems you are right on the wrist-slitting brink. For heaven's sake man cheer up, if Lovren & Morgan stay we have pretty much the same team as last year with an adequate LB replacement for UHOA Shaw, a much better striker than Lambert and I'll bet a pretty decent midfield/winger who may actually produce an end-product from time-to-time. What, my friend, is there to be unhappy about?

You're right we are the PL specialists in raising and selling Left Backs

A nice image to cherish and thoroughly deserved.

Disingenuous in extremis. At least we'll have the same squad in 5 years time and boy will they be good! It's called 'Building a New Team', something that the WHT yobos know nothing about, their sole expertise being in poaching. Time you supported the team you supposedly support.

Much could depend upon Morgan. If the man says "Yes" then maybe Lovren will hang around for one more season.

Sky Sources: New 5 Year Contract offered to Jay Rodriguez
Charlie Wayman replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
Of course he will get a new contract, the people upstairs are not as daft as you seem to think. They are too busy fixing leaks at the moment to worry about a new paint scheme for the deck chairs. Jack would play for fun and he's in the PL... what's not to like? He ain't going nowhere. -

You must live a very complicated life. Relax it is very much simpler than that. Most times what you see is what you get. -
Maybe you should book an appointment with your local GP. They take chronic depression quite seriously these days.

Koeman's first Southampton press conference 11/7/14
Charlie Wayman replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Nah! Not logical to deduce that, he meant position? "whatever" and in case you missed the point 9th is lower than 8th? -
Koeman's first Southampton press conference 11/7/14
Charlie Wayman replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Good press conference, nice and easy and importantly transparent. Long may it last so no gagging order please Mr Rodgers. RK showing signs of real toughness over the Lovren affair so we must hope he reminds the player of who the boss is (show me your medals), who's paying his wages (contract willingly signed) and the consequences of bad behaviour (under 21 squad). I loved the Morgan Schneiderlin "will be a Southampton player" and it look like Rodrigues will be going nowhere soon. Keep a happy Lovren, keep a happy Morgan and we'll all be singing again. This makes me feel better at least for today. -
Probably just clearing way his papers ready to go home, get changed and off down to the Golf Club. It's only a day job you see and it's way past 4.00 o'clock.

Liverpool seem to be spending money like there is no tomorrow and this from a team who finished second and damned nearly won the league so what's going on? How solid is their finance one must wonder and how serious their interest in players like Lovren who seem to be churned out by Croatia at two a penny? Is it all a game of bluff and their real targets are much more fancied players who are hedging their bets to get a best possible deal? What if they aren't all that bothered about Lovren anyway and won't bite on our price (would you?) just because he will always be for them their second best option? A lot of doggy-do has been floating about in this particular choppy sea so how could he be welcomed back by the club and fans if there's no deal to be done? It seems we have passed the point of no return with even the Echo slagging him off as "not fit to wear the shirt". So no welcome here then or we about to demonstrate that our ethical standards are no higher than his or other wanna ways? Set a thief to catch a thief?

There was quite a buzz when Jack Stephens came here rather than join one of several other suitors, being seen as a very exciting young prospect. Things have moved on quite a bit since his arrival, the quality standard needed now even to get a sniff of first team action must be so much higher than it was then so maybe the potential seen in him at the time might have been OK for everything foreseen at the time but may not have been at the level we expect these days. Or, perhaps sadly maybe he just hasn't developed as hoped, after all it is asking a lot of any teenager to dedicate his life solely to football to the exclusion of everything else year-after-year? For every greedy UHOA youngster like Luke Shaw there must be ten kids like Jack who never catch the eye of the boss for one reason or another to make that final big step forward to better things. Sad for him although Swindon probably is a lot better than a return to Sunday League or Plymouth Argyle. Good luck, lad.

Saints reject bid from Cardiff for José Fonte
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
If we really are wishing to return to our roots Ralph and become a touchy feely family club again, then the last thing you should do is to clear out our older stalwarts like Jose and Kelvin who have contributed far more than most to our present success or even dear old Jos for that matter. These are the guys who live and breathe Southampton in the dressing room and are worth their weight in golden footballs with all the raw ambitious kids in our ranks to help them learn the trade and also to help build vital team loyalty, which is essential if we are ever to be more than a struggling lower level Pl side. I doubt the rumour has any substance and the idea that we could afford to let him go right now with the likely loss of Lovren, borders on the naively absurd. -
You seem to be remarkably complacent about this situation that worries so many. Surely we deserve a board that is proactive rather than reactive, laissez-faire or serendipitous it is past the time when we can afford "to let events take their natural course" as you may be implying. If we intend to do what we say we wish to do then some people upstairs need a bloody good kick up the backside to get a some action fast otherwise it will be more than egg on our faces in a few weeks time when the transfer window has closed, we've signed nobody and the Saints are propping up the PL.
-
So we have reached p47 of this thread without a single player signing on yet despite endless speculation linking us with just about anybody in world football who stands no chance of joining a CL club. An uneasy feeling is spreading through me that we are heading for a nil-transfer summer, that the team that takes to the field in just 40 days time will be made up of the best we have left. What's gone wrong? Is it just that nobody wants to come here because they see us as anonymous nonentities in football terms? All the fine sounding rally calls from the boardroom about the alleged size of the pool of funds available to buy new players or our determination to buy better quality than those who left amount to diddly-squat until we complete even one signing. As for the 7 or 8 that the most optimistic on here have proclaimed there appears to be about as much chance of a snowball falling on Stockport next week. There just isn't time now to complete all such deals and get the players over here, settled and integrated into our system of play. When will we have even one shred of good news?
-
Are you Liverpool in disguise? It turns out we were! Good to see the PL's new idea of incorporating second teams of BIG teams in the League has been introduced so smoothly and with hardly a dissenting voice.
-
Well at least next season's 'star' players won't be inclined to sneak off to a look-a-like club, can't see a queue forming to join Stoke or Sunderland. Maybe those red shirts gave the recent deserters all the wrong ideas. Going back to stripes epitomises what is wrong with this club and many of its fans, forever locked in the past and hating the idea of moving on into the 21st Century. If Stripes is the height of our ambition then a relegation struggle is almost a nailed-on certainty.... everything exactly like the 'good' old days!
-
On the other had the young lads of the development squad must be chuffed as bunnies with two tails. First team football in record time beyond their wildest dreams. What odds on a Josh Sims hat-trick at Anfield. Adam who? Rickety Lamberto, doh!
-
Well, it didn't do Luke Shaw any harm. He looks about 40 and he's only 18
-
Morgan Schneiderlin is the only sane choice, not only a natural leader and control freak but also endowed with the silky skills that the others can admire and look up to. £60k per week + The Armband... What's not to like, monsieur?
-
OK Beats me, what are you on about? or on?
