JANUARY - Who will go, Who will stay and Who will arrive?
Charlie Wayman replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
Can't think why you would make that kind of association, doesn't make any sense at all, totally different players. Too naive to bass Long assessment on that 2-0 win the other day only. He's usually a winger. -
JANUARY - Who will go, Who will stay and Who will arrive?

Nobody. We are a happy club. No good players available in mid-season so no business to do. -
It's easy to forget that 20 is still young age with people like Shaw and Ward-Prowse strutting their stuff with distinction on the Premier League stage. Whatever his personal weaknesses such as an apparent head down selfishness in the final third, much of that c an be eradicated by proper coaching. It is possible to mould people to the shape you want after all given the will on both sides and a bit of one-on-one tuition. He looked particularly exciting the other evening when the kids won 3-1 in one of the best matches I've seen this season. Nor do I understand this posters who immediately offer up Jay Rodrigues as a make-weight to create a space for Redmond. They are both hugely promising talents with lightning speed that will terrorise packed defence for years to come. There is nothing wrong either with being noted as an English club developing English players for future Saints and England.

If he has a contract and most employees do then the club can insist on him honouring his contract or seek compensation for the loss of his services or they could just pay him and as many have hoped, send him on 'gardening leave'. That may sound more actionable that it is in reality. If a footballer is sent on gardening leave it would be easy to monitor whether he breached the agreement or not but with an employee like Mitchell how would you know? How would you stop him phoning or e-mailing his new boss or watching football matches or analysing video footage? You can't so it is probabe that 'gardening leave' makes no sense in his case.

Schneiderlin injured and withdraws from France squad

Sorry Morgan but you must play at Villa Park. A couple of Paracetamol should fix it. -
He's young and English and with a season or two of Academy Polish could be a world star. Tadic needs competition.
-
The biggest problem for Nat was that that useless idiot Cahill constantly ignored him when he was in open space and instead passed the ball back squre to either Jagielka or Henderson. These cliquey b.astards really don't like having new young kids around do they.

Which teams do we want in our group?

Oh Duncan, where's your trousers?

There are no issues here at all. Quite sensibly Morgan will assess the situation nearer the time. Real problem is that interviewers almost to a man/ woman ask leading questions trapping footballers into talking about whatever subject the interviewer wants to make mischief from. Example: "Is it still your ambition to play for one of the BIG clubs in European competition in the future?" Saints very own interviewer is as guilty as anybody on with such questions Example: "Another good win today Ronald, how proud of you of your players for grinding out such a good result and of course another clean sheet?" Is that even a question? Is Ron then likely to say "No, they are a bunch of ******* for not sewing it before half-time."? Of course not he's trapped into a positive answer just like Morgan has been.

It's not so much the player as the culture and system in which they play. Lovren look d good in our system but is all over the place in Scouseland, Toby couldn't nail down a position at Athletico and sat most of the time on the bench and do you think Jose would be first pick at OT, EtS or SB?
-
Be careful! These agreements are probably not water-tight in a legal sense; if Manure or Mancy comes in for him with a £20m bid do you think Athletico will care about pre-agreements? ...and as we all know, it's not always up to the player where he ends up
-
Take nothing for granted and just enjoy the ride. When people ask, smile innocently and say only "yes, it is going rather well at the moment". You will be admired for being a well balanced supporter of the team of the moment.

What a pointless thread and of course we will sign both....

What game were you at? Clyne 6? What were you taking before the match? -
Saints 2 Leicester 0 - Post Match Reactions

Much more one sided than most have said in their interviews. 65% possession is not how I saw it, much higher. Fantastic performance from Nat Clyne, my MotM by a mile despite Shane's 2 goal wonder appearance. Great to watch and you just knew they'd do it as Leicester faded through fatigue. Leicester are not PL quality regrettably, the gap to the Championship is growing by the year and with the promoted clubs occupying the bottom three slots, maybe any club coming up that doesn't have high finical backing will have no hope of staying up. Maybe we and WHU are the last of the lucky ones. -
The problem is not the players or the squad it's that Hodgson is way past his sell-by date as for Lewington - well words fail me. If all else fails shout louder at the players seems to be our world class strategy.

Old Ralph knows how to get the teardrops flowing that's for sure. Wouldn't it be nice to have 20 years of stability and twenty years of the Southampton Way with all our old boys asking if they can come back - except Judas Lallana of course - but we say sorry, son you're too old and slow.
-
Who says we have had an easy start? We can only beat what's put in front of us / we all start from 0 / it's always XI v XI ..and what about Goals For and Goals Difference etc?

VIDEO: Behind the scenes with the Kitman
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
William Shakespeare once wrote a famous play about kitmen... "Much Ado about Nothing" -
But surely the Club must take some responsibility for Gaston's situation, it is not in their interest that he should languish in a backwater like Hull and become virtually worthless. Les should find him a club either back in South America or Italy that will take him on loan and give him game time. You can't just loan players out and ignore what happens to them as if it is none of our business. We have a moral and financial responsibility for all the players we sign whilst they are on our books and only a fool would allow their assets to rot away. We are a caring club are we not so let's start caring about this guy until he is happily re-settled and playing regularly.

Even van Gaal is at it now... "Chelsea & Man City are the best two sides in the PL" !!!!! Probably jealous of an embarrassed by Our Ron's success at team building which has been conspicuously absent at Old Trafford under his watch.
