FA Cup 3rd Round - Ipswich (H) - £10 tickets
Charlie Wayman replied to Wiggles31's topic in The Saints
Bought my tickets yesterday so at least 2 attending. Worth the money just to see Mick MaCarthy again. Great guy who says it as he sees it and always seems able to be too good for the championship but not quite good enough for the PL. If indeed Ipswich get promoted this time let's all hope that their top management will be a bit more patient and understanding than those impatient dolts at Wolves & Sunderland in the past. You don't get promoted time after time without a reason, like being a bloody good football man manager. -
No, no, no we just cannot afford to have Jose and Maya playing together, one or t'other always produces at least one coc.kup of a howler per match whereas Toby is steady as a rock and brings more out of Jose. Try Yosh up front as a sub.
-
I'd be very surprised if we didn't score at least 4 tomorrow 4-0 sounds about right to me... it has good ring to it
-
But it sends out the wrong messages, TV invariably picks up the crowd movements and can't resist the chance to mutter on about "It's clear what Saints fans think of this... etc" Also the players can sense this as well and at a time when they're giving their all and knackered of course they are bound to think "Well if those bar stewards don't give a tos.s why should we!" I drive, I stay to the end. I'll still be there when the last ember dies and the final shot has echoed off the roofs. If you're Red & White then say for the night!

Which had precisely coc.k-all to do with defenders going to sleep because of the lull and for once not ball watching. Fraser can only ever be as good as the back four in front of him and wasn't to blame for this act of schoolboy defending.

Something I never knew about St Marys
Charlie Wayman replied to StratfordSaint's topic in The Saints
The info has been around since 2000 at least, all this was talked about at the time of construction. Stadium of Light is the one to look at, much the same as SMS with three sides raised above the level of the main stand. Fair point to bring forward and I for one would like to see them get on with it before this particular Koeman bubble bursts. -
Actually they were just behind me but TV was misleading. Toby, JWP, Morg an , Luke & Jaidi were all sitting together in a row behind the man U board in the Itchen. I expect Jaidi was keeping an eye on Shaw and could hear every word. Morgan is better than United. Don't blame Ron for the parsity of our squad!

The were indeed but Ryan Bertrand was my MotM

Effing daylight robbery. To lose in that way to such a c.rap bunch of clueless t.ossers is gut wrenching. Fonte is a right tit and deserves to be dropped. Hesketh, who he? Mayuka? Send him home on a free.
-
Long seemed to be carrying an injury since mid first half. Probably had to stay on longer than was good for him. Hope as a result he is not out for Monday as well.
-
Exactly what happened last year. With Toby, Morgan & Cork out we are stuffed. Obviously Reed isn't quite tup here yet to get a game against Manure so what can we do? Yoshisan doesn't look good enough at this level and Fonte is looking increasingly shaky. Not quite meltdown but top four seems remote with this sort of luck. Sh.t!

The OS mentions live streaming tonight... surely not live video from the BT feed? ...for free? ...or just radio?
-
PS. The only one of the BIG FOUR worth watching these days is Gooners and only because half of them are Saints kids.
-
It's on telly at lunchtime so why would anybody cough up £40 on a ticket when they can spend it on beer, pies and fries at the local pub? Might be bloody freezing' up at SMS too. No Brainer. I don't have Sky or a local pub!
-
Just a daft rumour. Poor old Ricky now a bit of a misfit except for England?
-
Another of those occasions where we kept the ball easily but in a far too slow paced unhurried passing game that lacked any sort of penetration threat in the box. More like this and we'll soon be slipping down the league. Should have played Cork from start and used Long as a sub for Mane later on. Nat Clyne was our saviour but many more performances like this and we'll be fending off Bayern and Real Madrid. Let's just hope he loves living down here enough to stay for a couple more years. Best since Bale? Quite possibly.
-
How the heck are we going to stop Aguero, it just isn't possible. I fear we're in for a thrashing after tonight's City morale booster. Prepare for a drubbing chaps. Most pessimistic I've been all season. 0-4 if we're lucky, sorry Ron but can't see how we'll ever get the ball off them.
-
We play one match at a time and concentrate on our own results. Ignore the others, if we get enough points we'll win it.

AUDIO: Toby Alderweireld talks about life at Saints so far
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
The key may be Ron who has signed a three year contract and seems far too decent a guy not to honour it. You have to ask then why excellent players with Champions League experience would give away all that to come here, so they are unlikely to be lured away that easily all the time Ron remains here. If Champions League football becomes a reality at SMS then nobody, Ron, Toby, Morgan will likely want to leave. They will have nothing to prove, they play for their respective national teams regularly as well as week-in week-out for a top PL club. Money isn't everything and maybe isn't even the obstacle many believe it to be at Saints. -
Is there any point in our "Latest News" page?
Charlie Wayman replied to St_Tel49's topic in Site suggestions
Until last year the OS was not a worthwhile source of information about our club because of the secrecy inherent in everything that the Cortese regime did and before that the Lowe regime treated fans with such absolute contempt that the OS was used only to promote and sell merchandise and services (top down). The latest news sections of this and other fan forums was about the only way we could find out anything at all about what was going on inside the club and even then a lot of the news was speculative at best. Never-the-less precisely because of the various blackouts at SMS the 'latest news' sections of fan websites provide a vital service. Nowadays in this new era of genuine openness and transparency at SFC, the OS is used extensively to convey every aspect of inside club information to fans almost down to the detail of what each of them had for supper last night. Maybe sometimes they have strayed into overload on occasion but what's to complain about there? You could argue that in this enlightened new relationship between club and fans, the latest news sections may be no longer needed. -
That's a relief as I thought he would be only exceptionally good with a keen positional sense, an excellent understanding of the game and a refined craftsmanship in the midfield passing role.
-
Nothing like sitting on the fence as a way of earning a living. If the future is always a repeat of the past then why are we bothering to keep the human race going at all. If we lose the next four then OK but just suppose we win the next four... what will our pundit friends say then poor things?
-
Be fair, there will be plenty of interesting advert breaks to savour.

Wonderful, wonderful performance from Nat. Doesn't surprise me as he does it for us week in week out. Will he stay, will he go? Who knows but right now he plays for Saints and we should enjoy what he does for as long as he does it for us. ...which I hope will be for many years to come. Out with the chequebook Les and now get Bertrand into the England squad
