Not unusual in business, it means nobody ends up with egg on their faces if the fit doesn't quite work out as intended, the parties can go their separate ways and move on without undue speculation surrounding any departures. Seen it many times. You'd be surprised how often these things don't work. His new TV appearance should be taken as a very strong signal that all is very well rounded and settled upstairs, the drinks cabinet door is open and the senior management toilet unlocked. Ralph will be here to help unload the wheelbarrow loads of dosh soon to be delivered by Securicor. In Ralph we Trust! Ralph won't move on!

Rodriguez given the all-clear and set to return next month
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I am far more concerned about the continuing absence of Morgan & Toby from training than the prospects of Jay Rodrigues who is nowhere near ready for training by the sound of it. Noises off no doubt come from his agent to remind anybody who listens that the player is still around. Even if he was back in training at the end of March he probably wouldn't make the bench until the middles/end of April when there would be only about 5 or 6 games left. If at that time we are still in with a shout for top four would Koeman really give him any game time at the expense of regulars who had earned us this position in the first place. To do so he'd have to be pretty damned impressive in training thus assuming he would be up to speed and match fit quickly. It's all asking a lot of the lad really. More realistically he might get a few minutes here and there to build his stamina, awareness and confidence and make sure there were then no remaining niggles from his serious injury. After a summer rest the ground would be prepared ready for pre-season fighting for his place for 2015/16. I cannot see another club wanting to go faster with him than Saints, certainly not the top six boys, nobody buys a pig in a poke! Things have moved on everywhere since Jay was sidelined and as Ralph Kruegar said, there are loads of good young players out there who would die to play for Saints and indeed for any of the other top seven or eight clubs of the PL. That's what Jay is really up against, younger, stronger, faster, possibly more gifted kids lining up to join the gravy train. -
No Morgan or Toby in training although Shane Long is there. Bit worrying that the former two are not recovering as quickly as was expected. Anybody have an insight on their condition?

Let's hope we have another Gareth Bale on our hands. Our future certainly looks bright, England's future looks Red & White.

under his leadership of course, let's not forget how important that is.

Keeping Track of the Contracts 2024-25
Charlie Wayman replied to Over land and sea's topic in The Saints
So now Mugabe has a long contract... what is about centre backs that suddenly we are signing up all our young hopefuls when we already have 4 of the best in the PL on our books? Is there maybe a Les Reed plan to sell on all our current stars in a year or two for massive money and field a squad of Englishmen? -
1-1 provided that we score first and early.

How many people do Southampton Football Club employ?
Charlie Wayman replied to 9-3's topic in The Saints
No need for a thread on this, just check the public records at Companies House. Does it matter? Saints is a private company so it's up to the owners to decide how best to squander their money. -
Well, I won't be there on principle. You can't blame just the players, we were robbed blind by the scouse bastards from the top of their club to the bottom. Definitely one to boycott.

Superb player, far better than his critics would believe. Reminds me of the days when many posters on here were giving stick to a very young Morgan Schneiderlin even when his talent was obvious. Not only is Maya Yoshida a top class player but a superlative natural leader as well and loyal to the Saints cause.

Twice in one season, unbelievable. Just sign that 10-year contract Ron! Send for the Sculptor.
-
If Toby signs a deal and with Fonte, Yoshida and Gardos all in good form and still relatively young, where's the space for Turnbull in the next 3/4 years even if we fancy holding on to him? Is it just because he's English and home grown whilst none of the others are and Les has lined him up for the England team?

If they awarded points on the basis of goals scored we wouldn't have to put-up with this anti-football bus parking of the type that WHU and other struggling sides adopt which is ruining the game. Any team would have found it difficult to score against them last night which is quite different to WHU being any good at football. It was very noticeable that when we were passing the ball backwards, forwards and across to try to draw them out of position they just ignored us with all ten of their players sat in formation in their 18 yard box without making any attempt to move towards the ball let alone all get into our half. How many times did Forster actually touch the ball? If this is the natural development of PL football with poorer clubs adopting well rehearsed spoiling tactics to prevent the big money spending star-laden teams at the top playing football as the only way of staying in the league then the PL seems doomed to a very bleak future sooner rather than later. Bloody hell even the Championship is more entertaining than this. If you think about it... once two opponents have mastered the simple art of Nought & Crosses it is impossible for either to win a game. Isn't that exactly what is happening now in the PL? Why do we brag constantly about "clean sheets" rather than goals scored? I'll leave that for you to think about.

Without Morgan we are second rate, imagine what will happen if he does leave in the summer. The worry now is that we are on a slide at precisely the wrong part of the season and the coaches seem unable to arrest it. The lack of quality up-front is becoming embarrassing and it seems unlikely that many of the on-loan wonder boys will make the grade. Still that is probably the big advantage of trying before you're buying. We may have to accept that this is our level with the players we can afford and 6th or 7th is the best we can hope for now. Let's hope Liverpool have an off day when they travel to the South Coast in a couple of weeks time. Certainly our darkest hour this season.

In recent press interviews he mentioned Saints as a six-year project, what do the persistent bedwetters on here make of that?

Every game no problem although never good enough for HD.

West Ham fan here in peace.. Wednesday night in Southampton
Charlie Wayman replied to london's topic in The Saints
Are you for real? Not sure I can ever take you seriously again. -
Gary Linnekar?
-
Deserves all he gets after that touchline collision fiasco yesterday, the bloke is nothing but a thug and I for one will be glad that we don't have to listen to his ponderous whining drivel on MotD anymore. Not surprised he was sacked, an effing disgrace to football. Leicester had no choice after that bizarre behaviour and let's face it their results have been so crap that it is truly amazing that he wasn't given the big heave-ho long ago. Good riddance.

Post-Match Reaction: Queens Park Rangers 0-1 SAINTS
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Is there a problem when we are winning? We are finding it more and more difficult to score goals compared with the start of the season which must be a problem because we won't always be this lucky with last minute winners. We need more c creativity going forward, balls into channels is unimaginative and easy to deal with. We don't seem to be able to thread the ball though the middle of packed defences any more, tap and move, tap and move the way Chelsea and Arsenal can on their better days even 'though we have players who can move fast and keep good close control. Time to find a new attacking coach? The defence is absolutely rock solid even when half the subs are used but you don't win matches with clean sheets and on current form if we go one down we seem to struggle. -
Poch takes credit for Koemans work this season
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
This is exactly what you would expect from a jealous man who has been publicly humiliated by the fact that his successor at Southampton has produced much better results than he did with arguably at first an on paper far weaker team whose morale had been shattered by all the mass defections. He ain't fooling anybody of any consequence, just look at thos win statistics. Don't ccry for us pocket tiny, truth is we never missed you -
No dread for me despite the M for massive F for cock-up on Sunday, this will not be a question of bouncing back, we will absolutely slaughter them. Don't bet against 6-0. Here you read it first....

Doubt it, more likely we needed to get some cash in - for Cork - before we could by Ryan under FPP rules. Other clubs have had plenty of opportunities to snap up Ryan over theirs, none did so. We spotted a rock and turned it into a diamond. Tough on all those other tossers who just want the finished article. What a coup; what are you waiting for now Clyney your mate has signed up for most of the rest of his career.
