  1. Tickets in a grandstand to watch the British Grand Prix at Silverstone cost anywhere between of £260 and £350 and it lasts for only 90 mins yet 130,000 people turn up to watch. Every year people complain about prices and say never again but its full every year. Saints regularly attract 32,000 crowds today even though prices have almost doubled since St Mary's opened in 2001. Are they the same 32,000 people? I doubt it but it proves that tickets will find an audience whatever the price if the performance and the opposition are appealing enough. Sadly the realists are right, fan protests count for little these days. As more than one observer has mentioned before how long before stadium crowds are CGI'd onto empty stadiums to create the illusion of a full house?
  2. You are quite right, RK seems highly risk averse when it comes to team selection. The kids lose both ways, if we are winning and fighting for a top six finish then he would argue we need our best players in a settled team; if, as we are, struggling to avoid a relegation battle then it would be too risky to take a punt on a young player. All we'll end up doing is ensuring that in future highly talented kids won't want to come here as they can see they would have no hope of ever making the grade - Koeman style.
  3. What a stupid bloody comment.
  4. It's far too easy to suggest he gets no service, today he was almost static. Does he not know how to shake off attackers or is he getting tired and lazy in his old age? Looks increasingly like a passenger, hardly touched the ball today is it an Italian thing of not liking to get his boots dirty?
  5. This. Coaches can't heap all the blame on the players after such and ineffective and inept performance. I feel sorry for all those loyal travelling fans who have to make their way home in massive traffic jams with no reward at the end of it all. At least most of us can just log off at the end and kick the cat.
  6. I guess you include yourself as a Saints fan?
  7. Stoke remain the dirtiest team in the PL yet Clattenberg still gave everything to them when in 50/50 tussles. How can we lose to such a bunch of worthless tossers? What a miserable evening this is going to be and all the women will say is "why do you take it so seriously, it's only a football match". Bloody hell, when will we ever win easy?
  8. Sherwood is the new Redknapp, tells it as it is and wears his heart on his sleeve. No political correctness with him and despite all the sceptics and Sherwood- haters on here is set to become one of the great English managers.
  9. You could say the same about us, we didn't exactly treat him well after his successes in the JPT and building our successful team including finding Lambert.
  10. A game of two halves. Great performances from Bertrand, Fonte & Yoshida. Elia looked better. Not pretty but a win is a win and Kelvin kept a clean sheet for us. 5th for now will do very nicely.
  11. Will their visits last for more than one season? We're all chuffed for them now but their current group of players offer little hope of survival in the PL. The failure of star studded QPR to get a foothold in the PL even with near unlimited resources suggests Bournemouth will really struggle especially if the all important confidence buzz deserts them after a few early set-backs.
  12. Why was Ronald Koeman so downbeat in his two pre-match videos, seemed quite depressed to me and without his usual self-confident humour, so what;s bugging him do you think? Confirmation behind the scenes that Morgan & Clyne are going? Blocking from Les on recent performances? Whatever, I prefer the happy up-beat version. Hope it's a temporary blip and not something we should we worrying about as well.
  13. You seem to have ruled out the possibility that some players might actually like being here. There has been no indication from Wanyama that he wants out so why speculate?
  14. Not many posters receive such universal acclaim so thanks for the solidarity people
  15. It would be ironic if Chelsea was in for Clyne, get rid of one England full back and buy another? Sounds like they make it up as they go along. Can't see it myself although Clyne is likely to want to go back to London; Spurs or Gunners more likely.
  16. Yes but it went in the net didn't it! Around half the goals you see in the PL are like that, mis-timed yet somehow they go in off shins, toes knees, shoulders. What gets me is that they have the firkin cheek to do a hero's worship routine even when it's clear to everyone watching that the goal was a massive fluke and really they should be holding their heads in shame.
  17. It's a pity that Chambers moved on more especially as Clyne has decided to bugger off, we would have had our replacement without spending a penny and no hassle. With none of our defector's nailing down a first team starting position it must make us rethink how good these people were in the first place or was it more about the system we had here founded by Nigel Adkins and polished by Pochettino. We are probably better off with the money.
  18. Although we are told about the "Club's Ambition" twenty times a week do we really have the money or attractiveness to top players to ever be a big club and break into the hegemony of the top four? Liverpool and Tottenham clearly have vastly superior resources to ours yet they can't do it so I'm thinking that as we are bound to lose at last three of our top players in the summer and must embark yet again on a rebuilding task with inferior players, will be ever move further forward than we are now or is 6th/7th our ultimate destiny? If we are in for season after season of false promise and ultimately unable to deliver on those promises and that in reality this is about as good as we can ever expect it to be, the wisdom of coughing up huge amounts of money on Season Tickets year-after-year must be challenged. It is a personal choice of course but right now my feeling is that despite a life long belief that all things are possible, so my ST renewal has been a given now I am less sure about it than at any time in the past. This will be a final day decision and probably equally as difficult as choosing who to vote for on May 7th
  19. Going Down - Leicester, QPR, Hull Coming Up - Middlesborough, Norwich, Watford
  20. Very surprised nobody has suggested Ali Al-Habsi a first rate keeper who is far to good for the Championship where Wigan Arthritic will be spending some years to recuperate.
  21. After yesterday's results the top four is settled. Now as one wag observed yesterday it's a battle between three to see who can avoid the Europa's! It is well known that Pochettino hates the bloody tournament and deliberately ensured Saints avoided it last season, now after a lack lustre performance by Spurs on Sunday perhaps he is already working things around to make sure Spurs avoid it this time. Of course all three cannot be seventh so a good thumping by Hull would certainly help us but that bloody goal difference may be more of a hindrance than a help come the end of the season. All three are at home this weekend so it'll be very interesting to see if any of them try to win. I'll bet we lose 1-0
  22. How is he worse than Elia, Mane or Tadic? Certainly better than Pellè. Perhaps you are suggesting we should sell them all and I wouldn't disagree with you on that!
  23. I saw Bill play many times over the years often alongside Alf Ramsey; he was an elegant full back full of style and very reliable. Hope the club will mark his passing next Saturday with one minute's applause. A true Saint. RIP
  24. Bloody awful, we didn't look like we could fashion a goal even if the other lot hadn't turned up. Our attack... what attack you may well ask? Even our defending was all over the place at times. Nobody deserves credit for this inept performance. For goodness sake they all knew we had to win every game to have any chance of European football and they were handed a golden opportunity on a plate when the Scousers got stuffed by the Arse beforehand? Frankly our attack was useless today and not for the first time this year. Let's hope some of them move on but of course it will be the players we c an ill afford to lose who will move on and we'll still be stuck with the clueless ones next year. There was one hell of a meltdown in this house.
  25. So, what you're saying is now we are only a feeder club for Atletico rather than Scousepool? Lots of Horses being traded!
