Schneiderlin: 'Players to start making runs again'
Charlie Wayman replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Are we about to witness a miracle? Is the improbable about to happen? Morgan Schneiderlin talking up Southampton as if it was his club for ever? Let's just hope that he has had a change of heart and will still be a Saint next year. -
Why does it feel sooooooooo good when Pochettino loses? Don't you just love that sulky, sour-puss look on his face when he is suddenly reminded that he really isn't the best manager to have strutted his stuff in the PL as he imagines in his dreams. Nice one Jose and what a great celebration too. Ouch! How much did that suit cost you?

Time wasting? Crap Referees? Parking the Bus? These are reasons why we are no longer scoring goals an winning games? Come off it lads, these are nothing more than pathetic excuses for poor play on our part. Fact is we seem clueless at braking down packed defences and most teams in the PL have good enough players to defend well these days. The real problem as we know is our attackers just aren't performing at the level needed to break down defences. What worries me is that is beginning to look the same week in week out, we don't seem to learn anything new on the training ground like Pelle becoming mobile and running in behind defenders or out to the flanks to draw the CBs away from the centre in the way that Lambert learned to do when he was man make out of the game.

You are joking aren't you. Protein was a journeyman, no more than that and mostly effing useless. Up there with Morgan? What the hell are you on chum?

Time gentlemen, please! Let's just pray we can finish better than 8th otherwise Pochettino really will be crowing. You never get used to Saints losing the plot when it matters even when you have watched them for as long as I have but why is it always us? Guess it's a nailed on certainty that Clyne & Schneiderlin will be off in July and what is the incentive for Toby to stay? Also seems likely we won't be taking up too many of the loan options.

Nathaniel Clyne Joins Liverpool - Official
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Might as well drop him from the squad for the rest of the season and give one of the Academy lads a long run. Is Matt Targett any good on the right? -
One would have thought so but if even Ronald Koeman does not have enough charisma and drawing power to hold onto Toby, Morgan & Clyney then we maybe are over-egging the cake a bit on his appeal to players?

Nathaniel Clyne Joins Liverpool - Official
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
But Toby and Morgan have been injured and Jay has been a non-starter for the whole season so your hypothesis is rubbish. -
For sure, I think this is a Top Top thread and the responses truly awesome

Truth is 'stonewall' doesn't mean anything except that if you live on the moors and you want to stop sheep wandering.

Anybody who watched Barcelona last night will see exactly the roots of our current style of play including the multiple square passes followed by a quick ball over the top to a runner behind their back four. We have Djuricic, Barcelona had Messi, That apart no difference and they beat City, good omen?

Hang on a minute, we have only 12 games left and if we write off 3 of them that means for sure we need 27 points from the other 9. That just isn't possible is it? Certainly seems unlikely on current form. Most people on here can't handle reality and abuse will surely follow this but 4 seems improbable at best now, we have slipped up when we least needed to; the 8 points that we have let slip away in our last four relatively unchallenging matches has (I contend) sealed our fate for us this season.

Koeman says Mané was dropped due to discipline

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 0-2 Liverpool
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Here we go again, it was all the ref's fault. People need to face reality, if we need to rely on set pieces for goals to win games then we are in big trouble. This is looking like more than a blip and the blame game is kicking off. Maybe we aren't yet just good enough for top six, no shame in that if we finish as high as last year after the mauling we had last summer. -
That really might be very good news indeed do you not think? Where's Victor in training? Enjoy the game chaps, this one is being very actively boycotted by me. By the way when I miss a game we usually lose or draw 0-0.

He was of course already at a top club and only made the bench. Nobody on here it seems has mentioned the Koeman factor in Toby's resurrection as a player, that should not be under-estimated nor the player's own sense of loyalty and belonging dismissed out of hand. Hi might actually like it here and want to stay awhile.

Not unusual in business, it means nobody ends up with egg on their faces if the fit doesn't quite work out as intended, the parties can go their separate ways and move on without undue speculation surrounding any departures. Seen it many times. You'd be surprised how often these things don't work. His new TV appearance should be taken as a very strong signal that all is very well rounded and settled upstairs, the drinks cabinet door is open and the senior management toilet unlocked. Ralph will be here to help unload the wheelbarrow loads of dosh soon to be delivered by Securicor. In Ralph we Trust! Ralph won't move on!

Rodriguez given the all-clear and set to return next month
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I am far more concerned about the continuing absence of Morgan & Toby from training than the prospects of Jay Rodrigues who is nowhere near ready for training by the sound of it. Noises off no doubt come from his agent to remind anybody who listens that the player is still around. Even if he was back in training at the end of March he probably wouldn't make the bench until the middles/end of April when there would be only about 5 or 6 games left. If at that time we are still in with a shout for top four would Koeman really give him any game time at the expense of regulars who had earned us this position in the first place. To do so he'd have to be pretty damned impressive in training thus assuming he would be up to speed and match fit quickly. It's all asking a lot of the lad really. More realistically he might get a few minutes here and there to build his stamina, awareness and confidence and make sure there were then no remaining niggles from his serious injury. After a summer rest the ground would be prepared ready for pre-season fighting for his place for 2015/16. I cannot see another club wanting to go faster with him than Saints, certainly not the top six boys, nobody buys a pig in a poke! Things have moved on everywhere since Jay was sidelined and as Ralph Kruegar said, there are loads of good young players out there who would die to play for Saints and indeed for any of the other top seven or eight clubs of the PL. That's what Jay is really up against, younger, stronger, faster, possibly more gifted kids lining up to join the gravy train. -
No Morgan or Toby in training although Shane Long is there. Bit worrying that the former two are not recovering as quickly as was expected. Anybody have an insight on their condition?
-
Let's hope we have another Gareth Bale on our hands. Our future certainly looks bright, England's future looks Red & White.
-
under his leadership of course, let's not forget how important that is.

Keeping Track of the Contracts 2024-25
Charlie Wayman replied to Over land and sea's topic in The Saints
So now Mugabe has a long contract... what is about centre backs that suddenly we are signing up all our young hopefuls when we already have 4 of the best in the PL on our books? Is there maybe a Les Reed plan to sell on all our current stars in a year or two for massive money and field a squad of Englishmen?
