Certainly an interesting take on the situation at the time but I'll bet you're glad now that we were not saddled with a brainless, charmless, witless thug otherwise what sort of football would we be watching now?

They play also out of a good organisation

Nathaniel Clyne Joins Liverpool - Official
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
One can but wonder if the market has changed for Saints players since last summer? It is widely known how much our famed academy graduates went for and how much cash we hauled in but none have really proved that they were worth the prices paid. This summer other clubs will not be quite so gullible, desperate or willing to pay whatever we ask. Not suggesting it's got to the stage where we have to agree low prices just to offload people like Clyne but sure as hell it ain't gonna be anywhere near £30m and expecting North of £20m is probably fanciful looney tunes. I tend to agree it will be around £12/15m. Morgan - IF HE GOES - nearer £25 but I'd be cheeky and ask for £50m just because Bale went for £65m or whatever and we didn't get a sous! -
Well, Tadic did score did he not so why are we all complaining? 12 yards out with a static goalie, what's difficult about that? Too much is made of it, I still blame the bloody Germans who never miss.

Post-Match Reaction: Chelsea 1-1 SAINTS
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
We never looked like conceding a second goal despite all their late pressure which had more than a tad of desperation about it. Absolutely brilliant performances from the team almost without exception. Sad in the end for JWP who just seems to be out of his depth at the highest level and is evidently scared to tackle anybody. Maybe Steve Davis was knackered otherwise why take him off as he was filling the gap beautifully between Victor & Morgan and feeding great balls through to the forwards. Fraser's magnificent display late on earned us a point for sure but he should have read the cross from their right that Costa headed home, watched the flight and move three yards to punch the ball away. He was ball watching for sure but not in a good way! Magical shot stopper but still does not command his box as he should. -
They do serve beer and nosh at the local pub and with absolutely no buffering whatsoever. Having used dozens of so-called "brilliant" live streaming sites to watch Saints in recent years, it is usually a waste of time and a real test of patience as buffering ruins pretty much every webcast including I might add the BT Sport games for which we pay a subscription so it's not just the freebies. Don't even bother now. High speed BB seems to make little difference. OK we live in the sticks and not the centre of town but from what I hear it isn't much different there. Need instructions for Apple Yosemite too please.

I am very happy with the current standard of refereeing and the small number of truly controversial incidents is far out weighed by the millions of good decisions made routinely at every game by the officials when most people in the crowd have no idea what is going on. Considering the vile abuse directed at referees by home crowds in pretty much every game one can only marvel that there are enough stout hearted individuals who will take the job on in the first place e and for what, a pittance in footballing terms compared to what all the diving and moaning so-called stars get paid for being offensive. High time people laid off referees and pointed the finger at the real architects of their misery, under performing coaches and players.

Dead right, this year's run-in for the Championship promises to be sensational and watching is compulsive. Best advice for everyone is skip MotD and watch the Football League Show instead, you will not regret it. This is how we remember football at its best.

Jose Mourinho: Signing Luke Shaw would have "killed" Chelsea
Charlie Wayman replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
Would any of us rejoice if Luke Shaw fails at Man U? I don't think we should really. The biggest loser will be Luke himself who failed to realise that he was part of a highly successful system and that he should have thought about more than money when he moved on, like, is this team playing in a way that suits what I know and can do and have learned so far? Problem with money is that perhaps last year's man U were the only club prepared to pay him what he wanted. What happens then if Man U off-load him in the summer, who would take him at his price? He could even end up going out on loan. He may not be the only one who left hastily for money only to maybe regret it later. Clyne is a good fit in our system but would he really be any better than average elsewhere especially at OT where there is as far as one can tell no discernible style of play other than to lump it up to Fellani? Of course the irony of Clyne's situation is that we let Chabers go in the belief that we were lucky enough to have an even better prospect on-board only to lose both of them in the end. Maybe Mason will be the answer? -
Very well said Yuki. It is also quite easy to avoid such offensive and distressing remarks by placing the perpetrator's on one's ignore list. Clearly support is not "as one".

If we finish 7th which now seems likely will the board see this as a crucial re-building season achievement ready for a real onslaught for a CL place next year or a diabolical failure on the part of Koeman and his team. The re-building plea didn't save Pardew did it despite winning the Paint Tin trophy? Everyone expects van Gaal to get the chop for missing his targets.
-
Of course, but we have collected only half the points of all the others despite our so-called "easy run in" of games against lower position teams. Even if we pick up the pace again there is no sign of any of them collapsing.
-
It would be. If you can't see his quality on the pitch and need to resort to highly dubious statistics to try to make some sort of trolling point it says more about your lack of judgement than Toby's value to Saints.
-
Sadly the possibility of CL football has long since disappeared* and with it any hope of retaining Morgan (if indeed that was ever a game changer for him). Fair do's though, as our longest serving player he deserves our blessing when he leaves in July. At least we can watch his progress with admiration as we have with Theo & Gareth. Au revoir et bon chance! * Current form (points from last six games) Liverpool 16 Arsenal 15 Man U 13 Tottenham 13 Southampton 7 Which suggests as no doubt we all expect that Arsenal & Liverpool will be the two to qualify, a pointer to where Morgan will end up? Let's just pray it's Arsenal and not the effing thieving scousers.
-
At least we won't be in a relegation scrap next year with this lot below us.

Reaching the PL would be an amazing feat for Bournemouth and would be a real smack in the eye for all those pundits that claim that parachute payments guarantees that the same few clubs will keep yo-yo-ing between the lower reaches of the PL and the upper tier of the Championship and let's face it , it also a long time since Middlesborough and Derby were up there. Mind you it also raises the question of where all that money went to if it didn't get used to return bigger clubs immediately to the top flight.

The whole point of these exercises apart from the more obvious bonding opportunity is to push players way beyond their comfort zone and to take risks that normally they would not take to prove to them that they can do things that normally they would be scared of doing, that the only thing to fear is fear itself, fear of not knowing. Few if any of the players appear to have been on ice skates or skis before and probably like you would be scared of falling over, getting hurt or making a right tit of themselves in front of their pals. They have taken unusual risks mainly not to lose face - safety in numbers - and have come out of it intact physically and with pride. Nobody feels like a tit, in fact many will glow with pride. The have proved to themselves that after all they could do things they never thought they could. Highly motivational and expect a reaction against Chelsea. PS ...and OK wags, they'll all fall flat on their Arses in the penalty area! Just joking.

I imagine has far more going on in his head than you, that's for sure.
-
Brilliant! Truly bloody Brilliant! Joke of the Year.
-
There is another aspect about this that doesn't get mentioned on here and that is 'fame' in the way that everyone in the world knows of and instantly recognises Ronaldo, Messi, Fabregas or Iniesta. Maybe that is a higher goal for very gifted players who have amassed more money than they could ever spend. Fame must be a factor in even being considered for e.g. high level awards of FIFA such as Player of the Year. Maybe Morgan would like to be household name around the world and not just in Northam.
-
2-0 to Saints, yep really.
-
OK moaners so he's not very good, in fact just mediocre average? A top six team must indeed be very desperate to have to include such an idiot in their side. Maybe he just turned up with his boots on Tuesday evening and Koeman fancied to give the kid a break 'cos we were a bit short of players mid-week.
-
..and no doubt walking on hot coals again! Actually they might welcome that especially Elia.

Charlie Wayman replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
This quote today Manchester United are in talks to sign Porto right-back Danilo, 23, with the Old Trafford club willing to meet the Brazilian's £37m release clause. (Sport - in Spanish) Maybe Nat shouldn't be too hasty, is that contract is still on the table?
