It must be the loneliness of your occupation that has turned you into a manic depressive.

All we have to do is keep winning. Control the controllable, as the pundits would say. We don't need to spend all our time worrying about what the others might or might not do. We win, win, win, we go up, simples!

Sekou Mara - Official: Signs for Strasbourg
Charlie Wayman replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
Put it this way, Adams has done nothing special to justify his automatic selection as main striker. Sekou Mara deserves his chance, there is a flair about the lad that more than. hints at a star player in the making. Players don't get picked for their national teams at any level if they don't have real potential. -
It was pretty obvious yesterday that from the minute Downes went off our midfield command disappeared and blooming great holes appeared all over the middle of the pitch which they right royally exploited. Whoever was supposed to take over his role failed abysmally. We can't put Smallbone in there again so it has to be Charles and we must trust him and get behind him. No question there is a player in there and this has to be his time to step up to plate. I'll have a word with Russ! A strategy of relying on out-scoring the opposition would be suicidal fun.

Agree except your nonsensical comment about Brooks. He was never in the game today.

What a wonderful time to be a Saints fan. Thank you lads for one of the most entertaining afternoons that I've ever enjoyed at a football ground. Buzzing. We really are developing a fabulous team, the future looks very bright indeed. Well done Russell Martin and his troop of magicians for pulling that rabbit out of a hat..

It's a highly competitive business getting into our first team now and Mara is winning it at the moment. Che needs to up his game, he misses too many sitters through hot headedness. Also, he's likely to be gone in the summer whereas Mara at 21 could be our future.
-
Most certainly there is, players are asked to seize their chance and make a difference which Mara exemplified on Tuesday evening. It would be a travesty if he didn't start on Saturday. For every goal that Adams scores there are usually three or four sitters that he misses. There is very little subtlety to his game, just a bludgeon really. For me Mara starts in the middle and I would also like to see Meghoma in for Manning.

It's typical play by these big lumbering journeyman backs to try to physically intimidate raw young kids and leave their mask on them. He should have been shown a red straight away. Fortunately Tyler Dibling is a big lad and although only 17 he seems able to look after himself and wasn't phased at all by that incident. It was noticeable that he used his physical strength well in tussles with opponents.

A tantalising prospect indeed. Is Russ ready to test his high flying side against the best the PL can offer and put out his very best team or will he still see us as a work in progress and not be quite ready yet to show his full hand. If Liverpool beat us and end our successful run he (and WE) can rightly say it took arguably the best team in the country (world?) to stop us. On that basis he might as well give last night's "B" team another run out to see what they can do. Either way we should not feel too downbeat about a loss in the same way we would if a Championship side ended ur run. After all, all good things must come to an end. We will be putting all of our best players and young talent in the shop window for the world to see and the greedy big clubs the world over will be alerted and maybe turn covetous eyes on our players. We must hope that SR are resolute in their determination to build a top class side and keep it in Southampton shirts. A Southampton win could start a wild fire.
-
Yes but they still won comfortably.
-
Playing him on the left wing was sheer stupidity. He's a striker as he amply demonstrated tonight and far better than Adams.
-
Do Man City have an option not to sell?
-
For goodness sake he is not even eligible to play. Get your head in gear.
-
Listening to Matt Gill does not inspire confidence that the club want a decent cup run. Wholesale changes again tomorrow will pretty much confirm it. I'll be there anyway and hope to recognise at least one or two of our players.
-
So in the next two seasons we play the first in the Championship and the second in the PL as opposed to the first in the PL and the second in the Championship, if we do better than you think. Will it really matter much in three season's time? I suspect that we will have a mini-collapse on the run in simply because the first setback could have a devastating effect on team belief. Nevertheless we will win at Wembley, no question about that.
-
The whole world will get to see Russball v Kloppball. Imagine Stephens up against Salah…….. What I want to see is Russball v Pepball at Wembley really.
-
It's a moot point. If the three that came down last season go back up and the three that went up last season come back down it will probably confirm your suspicion and also the more general point that the more established teams in the PL are so far ahead of the Championship level that relegation and promotion are becoming an irritating necessity. I'm not advocating for a closed league but where we go from there is challenging. Time for a two tier PL of 16 teams in each?
-
Stu 's having a quiet game, so is KWP. Both seem short of pace today. It should end up 6-0 although they look like they could scramble one.
-
So in the end nobody was interested in Adams. That lad needs to pull his socks up because if he isn't offered a new contract by Saints in the summer (and he shouldn't be), then he'll end up being glad that Accrington Stanley might be willing to take a punt on him.
-
Why not keep things simple, so that most Saints singers can keep up "Oh, when Kyle goes marching in"?
-
I thought I heard the window slam shut last night or it could have been one of the doom and gloom brigade shooting themselves...
-
You do realise that other opinions are available?
-
He will return in the summer.

Admirable constraint.
