  1. Nah! Terry Paine will pick Ryan Bertrand again as he has done for the past two years. He too qualifies for the "not a foreigner" award. Overall PotS, no brainer it has to be Oriol Romeu.
  2. Football at the highest level is rotten to the core, of course the whole PL thing is fixed and this is no cynical tongue-in-cheek trolling remark. Our perfectly legitimate 7th minute goal at Wembley was disallowed through an "erroneous" refereeing decision and now Mings gets a 5 game ban whilst Ibrahimovic escapes with three and Barcelona need to score 6 goals to win and do so! Who's getting the bungs?
  3. "Lander Sports... in February, became the fifth Chinese company to back a professional soccer team in the U.K., acquiring an undisclosed stake in top-ranking Southampton F.C." Surely the Club would have been delighted with such an investment and made a high profile announcement. No such announcement has been made so the story cannot be true.
  4. That's why you should have gone up to SMS on Monday just for a football fix. Good football, no queues for the bog or food and room to stretch your legs when you felt like it.
  5. van Dyke 'is expected to leave in the summer"...... By whom we may well ask certainly not according to SFC. Could it be anything to do with the Guardian being a Manchester based publication?
  6. The bloke has attitude which gets in the way of his performance. I'm not sure why he always wants to be the centre of attention but he does and the cameras always seem to pick up on it whereas a chap like Yoshida who just gets on with it quietly never gets a close-up on screen. If you watch clips from the training ground it is nearly always Redmond who is larking about in front of camera rather than concentrating on what he is supposed to be doing. If it is just cockiness and he thinks he's the next Ronaldo then somebody should remind him that he isn't all that good and not even the best player on our team. He'll mature one day and might then be a half-decent player.
  7. Very much depends upon whether Claude Puel will be our manager next season. If he does and we continue to play high speed one touch pass and move football then the people who cannot adapt to that system will be the ones to be cast off. This is not a crusade against Puel just that if we get taken over in the summer then new owners will want their own man in and his style will dictate who's in and who's out. There are one or two who likely will leave of their own volition whichever way that works out, Martina & Rodrigues being the obvious candidates because they know there is little of a future here for them. Then there are a few youngsters who have had their chance but not taken it to make room for the next generation of academy lads and maybe McQueen and Hesketh are in that category perhaps going out on loan with a view to permanent transfers later on - try before you buy as it were. With Alfie Jones getting better all the time Jack Stephens may be another to miss the boat here.
  8. Some of the posts on here are pretty unfair, so not sure if the posters actually went up to SMS last night to watch. Hojberg played very well especially in the second half when he had found his touch and was strong on forward runs to their box. Carceras was excellent as you might expect, read the game well, good movement. Always alert and moving to cover / intercept and great on the ball. Always running into space to provide an out ball for the goalie. It looks to be a case of strength and stamina now his quality is assured. Alfie Jones looks a prospect. McQueen was in and out certainly better in the second half but poor in first when all he did was pass backwards and did no runs down the wing. Boufal got really badly done by the Chelsea No 6 right on his recently injured foot, it hurt him and he was ****ed off with it, understandable as the Chelsea guy had given him the roughhouse treatment all night. If it turns out his foot has been injured again having maybe not properly healed then no wonder he stormed off as he did. Could be a season ender for him. Having said that he was off at 58 minutes so that must have been pre-arranged to give him match time. Our strikers were nothing short of inept all night, they created absolutely nothing between them people will focus on Rodrigues who was very poor indeed and lazy, gave the impression he couldn't be Rrsed. The academy boys fared little better just a couple of good moments from Sims but little else. Harry just zipped about all night running and crunching, he seems tireless.
  9. We play our own game of set attack and out-pass and out-think them, that's how we win not be sitting back and inviting them to showboat at our expense. Redmond as AMF and Boufal on the left switching with Tadic.
  10. Free entry is a very good price indeed to see tomorrow's stars in action. Big crowd up there tonight please to get behind Carceras.
  11. There are two U23 fixtures before the Spurs game so let's get Carceras out there and up to speed in time for Spurs... and yes, Boufal in for JWP..
  12. Yep! You've nailed it. Can't see Austin getting back into this squad but we still have to find a position for Boufal. Maybe drop Redmond back to attacking mid-field with Boufal on the left? Neither Hojberg or Les's poster boy are good enough it seems. The great thing about Redmond he is can chase back all day, tackle and defend so give it a go.
  13. That's not what he said after the match was it, he said how well he and Ryan get on with all their banter and support for each other.
  14. We'll take that but Stephens out of his depth really, we must play Carceras against Spuds. JWP knackered all match should have been replaced at HT. Need to get Boufal on much earlier.
  15. See, this forum is not such a bad place after all.
  16. LOL
  17. Crunch talks, aye? Showdown at the OK corral? I don't think so, who in their right minds would want to live in Glasgow. If he is that good why not offer him DoF here, Les. More pertinently our club is about more than individuals these days as the last three years of coming and goings have shown, now who was that Paul Mitchell bloke who used to work here.....
  18. Maybe we adopt the red shorts with our stripes? Just a thought.
  19. People need to tread carefully, creating fixture congestion could well be a ploy by UEFA's top leagues to reduce Premier Divisions to 16 or even 12 elite clubs. Recent suggestions that the gaps between matches are "more fair" for some than others might not be accidental. The way to defeat this is to deliberately play weak teams in unimportant competitions so that you get knocked out early. Even for a club like us maybe we should adopt the attitude that the only competition outside the PL worth taking part in is the Champions League There are a lot of old romantics in the fanbase who think competitions like the FACup are still worth winning but they're not if it results in a low league position so that when the inevitable down-sizing occurs clubs (like ours) get stranded below the cut-off point. We should aim now to be always in the top 8 and sod the Cups!
  20. I agree with you, there are still a lot of limitations in his general play that by and large cancel out much of the good things so you end up with an average player who looks more like journeyman than a real talent in the same mold as Henderson & Berkley. He still cannot tackle effectively or cleanly after well over 100 odd games and still falls back too often on the very simple 5-yard off-load pass to a nearby team mate or a back pass to the CBs both of which stall our forward thrust and as often as not leave our strikers running into off side positions. For me he is no more than an off-the-bench player not a first team regular but all the time Les is at the helm we'll be stuck with the Academy boys mentality that he has instilled in Puel. You've got to ask what Clasie & Hojberg have done wrong to always be behind WP these days and hardly get a game. They must be mightily ****ed off!
  21. Forster seems to have very slow reactions and lacks agility due to his size and ungainliness, the two characteristics that seem to be of the utmost important at this level. Too many fans are grumbling about his performances match after match for it to be a knee-jerk response to the disappointment of last Sunday. The question must be asked what the coaches think about his situation as surely they cannot be unaware of the mood of the fanbase. Indeed the fact that they brought in Hassan in the transfer window might suggest they are concerned. Maybe it is time for a change. Hart would not be a bad option but is he a team player? If we do need to find a replacement let's go for that Burnley lad even if they stay up.
  22. Strange as we couldn't find a decent pie all afternoon.
  23. Somebody has to be the first effing **** to find someone to blame as is so predictable on this website. As others have said go find another club to support.
  24. Give it a rest mate, what was there to criticise about yesterday's performance. This was the best team performance ever seen at Wembley, just be satisfied with that.
  25. An amazing performance from all our players so well done to Claude and everyone this morning. The future is bright, the future will be red & white!
