Who makes these things up? The Echo is a happy hunting ground for idiots that's for sure.

All players do well against Saints
-
This has never been an observed in my lifetime of attending football matches except during these past three year or so. I just don't get it. War has nothing to do with football so why has this whole charade become so prevalent or special to the game? Of course, last Saturday was All Saints Day and should be special but singling out one event from our long bloody history for special commemoration at football matches smacks of sentimentality gone mad. At 11.00am on the 11th day of November ever year we all stand still for a minute or two's silence to remember the sacrifices of our countrymen in the cause of freedom in all wars not just the Great War. Can't we just leave it at that? What is important is not "celebrating" the past but making sure it never happens again to our young men. You do that through education and democracy. Yes, I lost relatives in both wars and also had a few who were heroes sprinkled in amongst them. They live on in my memory and my kids memories and that must be true for many on here . If you doubt my perspective just reflect that nobody ever pays homage to our losses at Waterloo, Crimea or Austerlitz for that matter. Does anybody know if they had family members there or not?

Until we get rid of Hunter & Jaidi, what do you expect? They are not exactly candidates for Brain of Britain. The whole Academy system needs a bloody big shake up, at the moment they are churning out really nice blokes who will become model citizens but can't play football!

Where do you go to get tradesman you can trust?
Charlie Wayman replied to Give it to Ron's topic in The Lounge
Good, fair priced tradesmen never advertise as they don't need to, all their work is through word of mouth as Minsk says. Never but Never Ever go to Yellow pages and be very wary of Check-a-Trade where it appears most testimonials are written by the people themselves or their mates! The guy moaning about somebody wanting to charge £40 to clear his gutters... grab it as quickly as you can as the poor sod has to drive to his place, do two hours hard graft up a ladder and then drive home - probably the whole morning gone for which he gets £40! Not even minimum wage. -
What was the poor sod supposed to do with a load of over-weight, over aged journeyman like Carroll, Hart etc? It would have taken a miracle. You need to perform three miracles to become a Saint.

Do grow up for goodness sake. Any fool can read nonsense into his statement if they have a mindset to do so. Look in the mirror!
-
Sorry for what? He owes us nothing, he's not the first who wanted out and he won't be the last. Believe you me if the boot was on the other foot we'd discard him at the drop of a hat.

Presumably Reed is too busy occupied looking upwards and manoeuvring at the moment than worrying about Pellegrino. He will be aware of the old adage "three hits and you're out!"
-
It was pretty good in the first half yesterday and the players responded by keeping up the tempo.
-
So you don't believe in freedom of speech and expression? Be thankful that they paid their money and went to the match in the first place unlike many serial moaners on here. I assume you did by your self righteous attitude?
-
Surely this cannot continue for much longer. Even Reed look worried and embarrassed at the end when he got an earful or two from the crowd near him at the end. Maybe he's staring to worry about what a certain Mr Gao might be thinking? I bloody hope so. With luck he'll be the first out the door followed swiftly by his sidekicks, Black & Watson

Surely nailed on?

The one player I would like us to bring home in January is Morgan Schneiderlin. Why would we sell Bertie and take a risk on Luke Shaw's ability to stay fit. Plain silly.
-
I don't buy that at all, credit where credit's due he was a fantastic manager for us and proving to be world class at Spurs. At least we can say once he was our manager and we gave him his Big chance.

Congratulation to Steven Davis receives MBE
Charlie Wayman replied to the colonel's topic in The Saints
Does anybody actually know what he got it for? Everyone's congratulating him for something none of us know about. Odd! -
Random Ex- Academy Player Transfer News no-one will care about...
Charlie Wayman replied to The9's topic in The Saints
Just shows the academy has more often been crap than a golden goose -
DT we can't drop Forster, there's nobody else to put in except the U23 lad. Both our so-called back-up keepers are a joke and worse than the Big man. How we got ourselves into this mess is anybody's guess but it makes a mockery of the claim that we have adequate cover for every position and players bust ng a gut to get the call. Apart from that, Pellegrino knows he is under pressure to get results and from now on play will surely only what he sees as reliable safe options that might get him out of the hole he is in. Hence although logic says vD should not play and Hoedt / Yoshida is the partnership that we should be working with long term, MoPe will only pick players that he thinks best for him now irrespective of Saints long-term best interest, hence vD, Tadic and Redmond will start on Saturday and Boufal will be left on the bench to simmer.
-
Let me paraphrase a favourite saying of David Coulthard (Ch 4 F1) for you, quote. "F1 is not a finishing school!" - context - when you get there you should be ready, that's why you're there. The Premier League is not a finishing school, it is the best league in the world (apparently?) so only the very best managers should expect to make their mark there.
-
Apart from the daft idea of dropping Forster, I'll go with that. Boufal fluffed his lines on Sunday but that doesn't mean he shouldn't get another chance (although knowing our manager he'll [probbaly play Redmond!). Tadic needs a rest, he looks dispirited and all the poor-me antics didn't help his cause one little bit. I cannot see Dyche being stupid enough or greedy enough to leave Burnley for Everton, he knows he won't get time to build a solid team. As for "taking Burnley as far as he can", 7th in the PL doesn't suggest to me that the partnership of him and Burnley has gone stale or run out of steam yet, far from it.
-
Yes. Also, the new owner told him in August that there would be no new money for players. Unless things have changed that probably is still the situation and we certainly haven't sold anybody of any significance. A few loans or out of contract players may be but wishful hopes of a multi-million pound raid on Europe's best should not be entertained, it won't happen.
-
On a positive not, Hoedt acquitted himself very well and deserves a run in the side. I thought we looked more solid and less panic stricken at the back under pressure. Tough on Maya but sometimes you have to be cruel in life so at least Pellegrino grasped this particular nettle. Not sure why van Dyke left Cedric to mark Murray fromm that cross, he was standing next to both and could and should have taken responsibility for the cross instead of leaving it to a guy who had no hope of out-reaching their striker in a heading duel. Forster was just plain ball watching obviously expecting the ball to be headed clear. No what-if's in his mind, is he very bright?
-
Very impressive well thought through post.
-
Agree. Like Boufal, if he never gets a game how the F can he improve? Wouldn't surprise me if both want out soon.
-
I guess you meant... step backwards Ward Prowse with one of those game stopping pass backs to Yoshida from their 18 yard box?
