I guess most of us realise by now that it is us that have been left in the last chance saloon, alone as always whilst the rich ones fly off to their Bermuda retreats

This will be fun...get those applications in..

Oh come on fella's, wise up! Only an idiot will think about touching their with a bargepole. Let them spin their little web... but don't be the fly! -
Nobody has refused to go on as a sub when called for! I too sit in that part of the ground and noticed how players subbed off did not acknowledge The Clown with a handshake or hug. It does look a tad automatic like they're going through the motions.

I hope you are right, maybe they were agreeing next steps and certainly Ralph look less than happy with whatever next steps he has been charged with taking. Les is Kat's man so probably water tight and seen by Gao as the go-between but Les's absence from that meeting suggests he and some other board members may be about to be axed along with the Clown. If surgery has been pre-ordained it is unlikely to be minor under a local anaesthetic. The Chinese usually play the long game and maybe Gao has a ten year plan in which the short term ails amount to very little, who knows? Maybe football insiders know something we don't like the formation of a breakaway European or even Global super league in the next few years with the wholesale re-organisation of national leagues as a consequence? The status quo may have no bearing on where we might be in ten years time. Such a wild scenario could at least go some way towards the apparent abject lack of concern of the owners in our current plight.....

Look lads there's no point clutching at straws we have passed the point of no return as far as relegation is concerned. All we need to discuss now is why the board and owners have allowed it to happen. Here's another hypothesis to add to the many. Imagine that the Chinese owners have told Reed to get rid of all those 6 year contracts without having to pay players off. How does he do that? Easy, **** off the players that are on long contracts so that they ask to leave or take the club down to the Championship so that automatic clauses such as halving wages are triggered and the most highly paid players will leave for PL clubs. Sounds like a coherent strategy to me.

Aren't Saints fans great! No sooner a player leaves us than the slagging off begins. Danny did a very good job for us when we needed him and never let us down. We are the sum of the parts and he was more than a spare part in our fight back from the wilderness. I was there for every damn game then so will not accept this cheap-shot criticism from johnny-come-lately's and armchair critics. If you have nothing good to say about an ex-player then keep your bloody traps shut!
-
The Echo was only speculating about the futures of Gardos and Pied. Still time for both to be offered new contracts unless they really want out and the club see absolutely no future for them here. Gardos is one of those very unlucky players who seem to pick up serious injuries but are unable to make a full recovery. It could be partly in his head of course being subconsciously unwilling to go 100% into situations where another similar injury might result. Whatever, we should feel sorry for him for a stalled career and a worrying future after he leaves. OK if we are to believe The Echo - and there is no reason why we should - he was paid reasonably well by footballing standards but not so well that he has secured his future if forced out of the game. I cannot believe we will let Jeremy Pied go, we need a new CB not new full backs and with our level of competence in transfer windows it will be hard enough to get more than one player in during the summer whatever our needs or manager's wishes. Apart from that he is a damn good player if he can avoid injury.

This is such an obvious nailed on 0-4 thrashing but I admire all my delusional fellow scribes who cling to any slender thread... Let's see now.. late Sunday night meltdown, Pellegrino why he still here....?

Did we really have any intention of buying Promes?
Charlie Wayman replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
Another new cynic joins the fray! There are plenty of those on here already. What we really need are people who actually know what has been going on or are open minded enough to recognise that more often than not the simplest explanation of events is far more likely to be near the truth. In this case, the truth is probably that we went all out to get Promes but Les Reed cocked up the negotiations big time, an outcome which he has been amazingly good at achieving year after year. -
About bloody time to. There's no fun to be had sitting in the cold frozen to the gulags on a Tuesday night in January. They need a rest and so do I and whilst we're at it make the break co-incide with the transfer window.

You're Barmy! Just simply delusional. Sorry for you!

Watford, WHU and Everton are in free fall and will soon be joining Huddersfield in the fight for life. At least one of the three will b going down along with the Tykes so just one place left, Looked at that way life doesn't seem quite so bad this morning.

Have we just helped to end the career of our ex-manager?
Charlie Wayman replied to SaintJackoInHurworth's topic in The Saints
Yep, me too. Another like Adkins who got a rough deal by Cortese. We seem only to sack successful managers! I hope he keeps WBA up they've been part of our history since the last war and used to be a bit of a bogey team for us. -
I just wish Blackmore was a better commentator so that we can imagine what's going on. He's always a week behind the action. I'll take 2-1 at HT any day
-
Sorry, I thought the mods would bleep it!
-
Bugger me, a decent team selection at last. Just a pity they left Ward Prowse in having benched Davis and Long, would have preferred Hoj
-
James, I rarely find reason to disagree with you but JWP still has all the flaws that he has always had. Cannot tackle, cannot head and never does anything adventurous only ever passing sideways or backwards to a maximum of 10 yards. Sorry, I don't rate him as a starter and the now well past its 'sell by date' trademark dead ball speciality rarely produces anything of note. At best he is an energetic well intentioned clubman. He is no more worth his place than the much maligned and unfairly so Steven Davis. My heart sinks when these name are announced as starters these days.
-
He didn't see that, he'd long gone as had most of the players.
-
Well, actually No! people boo-ed as The Clown made his hasty exit down the tunnel, they were silent for most players whom they felt had not done enough and clapped in just one or two who had given their all notably Stephens & Hoj but only those two I assure you as I was standing right next to the tunnel when they came in. Nothing wrong with clapping the lads who deserved it is there? Anyway, it's a distraction from the real business of making our feelings known to the Club. No banners or placards, no chants against the Clown or that smug barsteward upstairs, no demos outside SMS or Staplewood. What is wrong with our fans theses days. Nothing is going right, we are slipping into oblivion and yet we fans who stand to lose most can't get our acts together to try and oust these wretchedly incompetent people.
-
Right now we need Leon Crouch to intervene for the good of the club.

We keep regurgitating this same old question and here is the same old answer. Relegation will be an absolute disaster. It's no good looking at it through rose tinted glasses we could and probably will end up like Leeds, Blackburn, Wigan and a hot of other once proud premier League teams that have little hope of ever returning to the top flight. I've followed the Saints since they were only ever a second and third divison side and it wasn't very fulfilling being a fan of a failed team. As I have posted before many fans of my age group may never live long enough to see them in the PL again and that is not a prospect that any of us can accept. Be Very Bloody Careful what you wish for lads, very careful indeed.

Doubt Bertrand is that sort of player, he was giving it his all before he suddenly sat down on the pitch on Saturday. There was a collective groan from our part of the Kingsland close to where Bertrand went down. It looked bad and Pellegrino must have been bull****ting when he said Ryan could be available for tomorrow night. He won't be anywhere near ready so the Clown was just bluffing to confuse Hughton on our team selection. Pied played well and will start not MacQueen who will not be match fit.

WBA v Saints - 5th Round FA Cup Thread
Charlie Wayman replied to Edmonton Saint's topic in The Saints
It's not exactly a glamour tie for them either, locals are probably muttering to themselves it's only bloody Southampton so I won't bother going.
