  1. If money is that tight how about stopping expenditure on flame cannons, cardboard clappers, over staffing and the like that suggests a somewhat frivolous waste of our precious resources. There seem to be a huge number of staff strutting about on match days these days doing very little. Suspect the organisation is not very tightly controlled and there are a few unchecked little empire builders at large in the building. We need a tough new boss who will focus on what really matters, review staff jobs at every level and cut waste. No doubt there's a few million quid to be saved. As for Gao's statement, the sooner he tires of his new baby and badgers off the better.
  2. Early days yet but I agree with you about the massively under-rated Nigel Adkins, a man without ego and always a ready smile. Our progress under him was a joy to behold and laid the very firm foundations of what was to come under Pochettino & Koeman. Arguably the best manger we ever had. I loved the passion he had for the game and particularly recall the Davis testimonial when he was out of his seat demanding everything from his ex-Saints side in a friendly! Ralph has some work to do yet before he can truly be compared to Adkins & Koeman
  3. Could we have Ronald Koeman back please, he loved us, we loved him. We used to play like the Dutch last night
  4. Why are you talking about JWP? I'm getting confused.com
  5. Club very silent on transfer business. Anybody seen the retained list yet? We seem to be active despite the fanciful rumours so it looks like Ralph wants our business done by 1st July when players are back so he can euphemistically "hit the ground running" without a penalty.
  6. No room for our annointed son James then ;-)
  7. If he has pace and nothing else then he's one up on all our current lot!
  8. Not sure how people can have a valid opinion of a man they have never met nor spoken to. He can't be a fool if he keeps getting promoted. Give the man a chance. Grant you his hideous dress sense sets him off on the wrong tack.
  9. He is; one gets the impression that he isn't all that bright, which is maybe the reason he never seems to improve.
  10. I imagine it is to do with Brexit and our encouragement of the Catalans to go kit alone.
  11. Maybe Matt Targett?
  12. This might just work you know. Love to see him do again what he did against WBA, that goal alone was worth the entry fee. The lad can play football that's for sure and he can track back and tackle, just needs to improve his decision making which grant you won't be easy. The guys who are brilliant on the ball and can beat their man with speed and guile can also be incredibly selfish when it comes to finishing. Redmond still has a lot to learn as indeed does Raheem Sterling in knowing when to go it alone and take a punt or when to play in a team mate.
  13. Obviously a big shout out for Dave Merrington.
  14. Remind me please when we can expect see our retained list?
  15. Thanks for saving me the time to explain that to the too fast on the finger brigade like Shance and CaptainChris
  16. Not an issue, Villa will wipe the floor with them on Monday. Derby aren't ready or good enough to justify promotion.
  17. UK is well known abroad as a tax haven for the super rich. Good for them not good for any of us as their money is tied up in assets and so does not trickle down to stimulate the economy. Probably going to be ten times worse after we leave Europe. A form of prostitution really, if the price is right....
  18. What should worry us all is that Ralph doesn't really believe in us being anything other than a mid-table team, I was surprised to hear him say in his big interview that the "privilege" of us being able to play 12 matches per season against European League status teams was his/our champions league. That to me smacks of lost hope of us ever being a top six challenger again which isn't much of a prospect to look forward to and certainly not what most fans want to hear. You can't settle for mediocrity these days as others with more ambition will rightly take our place and there are plenty of them. WE either keep improving and looking upwards or we are dead meat.
  19. Don't bet against Troy Deaney replacing Chas Austin. Chas + £35 of Tesco vouchers.
  20. Surely all the ref has to do is stop his watch when the substitution board goes up and start it again only when the subbed player has crossed the touch line. Then it doesn't matter how long it takes although the momentum of play will be lost of course.
  21. Not funny at all, both deserved every bit of criticism that came their way over the past 2/3 years. Only since Ralph's arrival with a Big Stick has either of them pulled their socks up and acted like the well paid professional football players they were supposed to be. We'll see if it lasts.
  22. Very good entertainment for the under 5's so maybe that's the level at which we now aim to recruit?
  23. We do not have single player who has been able to rise to Ralph's challenging style of play for 90 minutes despite over a half season of coaching, every one of them has had more off days than on and none has eliminated costly errors of judgement from their game. At no time has this bunch of players been able to emulate the slick style that we saw from all those RB Leipzig videos at the time of Ralph's recruitment. Major surgery needs to happen this summer and I mean major to transform our performance and style of play into something akin to what Ralph purports to want. I am not overly excited about what lies ahead because it is hard to see how financially or otherwise we can bring in two, three or four transformative players of the quality needed to form the core of a new dynamic Saints nor how Ralph can possible squeeze more performance or consistency out of his current players than he has already. There is no magic pill and the odd new face will make only an incremental difference. 14th may be as good as we can hope for - bit like Palace - and yes, Ralph will leave at the end of the season.
  24. Sounds like the missus might be agitating doesn't it. Of course we will not give him the easy option. It never pays to foul up your own front door-step. Objectively he can't run very fast, he can't tackle back and he is not physically strong in the mold of Hoj and Romeu, he just doesn't fit what we aim to become.
  25. Black is not the happiest of colors in traditional Chinese color symbolism, representing destruction, evil, cruelty, and sadness.
