  1. You have a very good basis there for a long and happy marriage, I'll give it two years!
  2. You wasted a post telling us that. I know bloody well he's not in this squad, what the hell has that got to do with anything?
  3. Not sure Southgate is all he is cracked up to be on the evidence of his squad selection today. Ryan Bertrand is by far the best modern LB in the PL right now and it is a travesty that he hasn't been invited along. Young is just a static lump and Rose is a liability. Luke Shaw has had one good match and that's enough... ? If it's about the future, my guess is that Ryan will still be wowing fans in the PL when Gareth Who? has long departed the Wembley dug-out. Alex good luck to you mate you are at least better looking than that bloke up north.
  4. Exactly this. Very few have a bad word to say about Gabbi but there may be no point in persisting with talents that are alien to Dinosaur mangers
  5. You've summarised my thoughts entirely. It might even get worse however infeasible that sounds. We seem to be going through the motions with no plan at all.
  6. That is a cheap and silly reply, you know exactly what I mean.
  7. Hindsight is wonderful, 20/20 vision indeed! Nobody could have possibly foreseen that Bielsa might succeed at Leeds so why would anybody else have taken a punt on him? In any case it's very early days yet, half a dozen matches in and you're flagging him up as a world beating manager. Unbelievable! Let's see how things are at Christmas and next May before we hail the arrival of the new Guardiola.
  8. Do you think it might have something to do with the total imbalance of the premier league in finances and player quality and the fact that 14 clubs have no hope of winning anything anymore or even attracting even half-decent players? The romantic ideal of any competition is that you are in it to win it but quite evidently at least 14 clubs including us are just making up the numbers in the PL. In the Championship for example you can win it and there's the goal and incentive that players and fans need. In the PL there is nothing, it is hard for anybody to get excited about finishing 7th, squabbling over that 'honour' with the likes of Leicester, Everton & Burnley! We are not in it to win it as we cannot possibly win it (or even get close) so what exactly are we in it for so what exactly are fans supposed to get excited about. The surprise to me is that so many turn up week after week but surely the situation is unsustainable and gradually the habit of watching what is now on offer as entertainment will lose its appeal.
  9. Plenty of speculation around now, my guess is they've asked to leave and negotiations are taking place for loans or transfers to clubs abroad. Only a few days left now to sort this out before the window is finally closed in Europe. We'll know by the end of this week.
  10. I think that's right 'though what you might prefer to call crosses - which implies purposeful - are to me little more than speculative lobs into the box. Real crosses should be high, low, fast, slow all with purpose. We never seem able for example to drive crosses across the 6 yard box form the bye-line with speed for players to run onto, if we did Gabbiadini & Ings would excel.
  11. It was a clear dive and laughably amateurish. The bloke needs a lobotomy. He'd recover from the earlier tackle on him and as soon as he crossed the 18yd line he had given up on trying to reach the ball again and went for the coward's option. He's a wild bugger that lad and will be on a string of yellows and reds unless he gets his head sorted out. I thought Romeu was wild but this guy is raw meat!
  12. Why blame the defenders, the attack couldn't score goals even when we were well on top, even the much lauded Ings was hopeless today never having got into the match. At Saints for two weeks and already his goal scoring instincts have been coached out of him. Familiar pattern?
  13. Utter Bilge! Definitely going down unless we rid ourselves of this dinosaur of a manager. All huff and puff but no plan and no end product. Typical of Hughes in fact.
  14. You really are a naive and gullible old fool.
  15. Top marks to the King of Trolls. Either that or you are a blithering idiot!
  16. He contradicted himself today when asked if he knew what was his best XI "I have a pretty good idea". Last week he said he didn't have a best XI as such just a solid 25 man squad from which to pick a side each week depending upon the oppo. Er, players back late from WC still having an impact whilst others have disappointed by not realising the full potential he had hoped for from them... Starting to blame the players then for our poor start, not his training methods, playing style or tactical nous. OK, Mark we'll take that with a wee pinch of salt then.
  17. The meeting only happened because Chairman Gao told them to get off their fat arses and get fans more involved as it would be good for his image, otherwise they would have remained smugly aloof wrapped in their cocoon of make believe and alternative truths. I'll bet they had to be threatened to have their teeth pulled without an anaesthetic before agreeing to a forum and even then the barstewards charged two quid a head for the privilege of sitting in the same room as them.
  18. Which Saints player never got abuse from fans? Terry Paine maybe John Sydenham question mark not many after that. It's gotten worse in these days of anonymous social media. None of it is meant seriously so hardly worth you getting depressed and in a lather about it. They get paid enough! Let's not forget what real abuse is, nurses get real abuse which they never deserve and for which they get paid a pittance by a government that couldn't give a toss about the working class or welfare institutions like the NHS
  19. He is being optimistic, nobody in their right mind expects us to be as high as 15th. For what it is worth anything other than 20th looks increasingly like wishful thinking. We are a skill level below most other teams now for a number of reasons which have been well aired on the forum.
  20. Brilliant post. Haven't heard anybody in the Northam singing "There's only one Mark Hughes" yet and I am not holding my breath!
  21. Surprised at this really, looks like Hughes doesn't fancy him at all. Would have thought he'd have had a better future coming off the bench for Redmond or Moi. Anyway, good luck lad you have to safeguard your own future not leave it to the 'wisdom' of Hughes and his honcho's.
  22. I can't see that it matters much what we think about Hughes as things will have to be very dire indeed before Reed would have the guts to make any sort of further managerial changes. Three failures in a row would certainly be the end of his career. He'll stick with Hughes even if we are relegated and that possibility cannot be ruled out judging by the largely inept performances that we have turned in so far. My guess is that Kreuger & Reed just about got away with it after the last two years of failure and cock-ups in transfers and appointments, Mr Gao probably gave them the benefit of the doubt not least perhaps because he didn't want to start completely afresh with a new management team having only just bought the Club and not having much of an inside track on English football. The more he learns about it 'though the less tolerant he will become, especially if things are going badly and both Kreuger & Reed will be well aware of this and not sitting all that comfortably right now. I thought it a huge mistake to bring in Hughes having for years despaired of his style of football at Stoke and low and behold we can see his style of aimless, long ball football beginning to gain a foothold here at the expense of the quick, one-touch pass and run "Southampton Way" that emerged under Pochettino & Koeman and even to some extent under Claude Puel.
  23. I never want to see Austin in a Saints shirt again. His legs have gone and Ings had to show him what to do yesterday. Agree with others the game has moved on but Austin hasn't.
  24. FFS this is awful. We're clueless. Up Sh**e creek.
  25. Hughes more or less said he'd pick horses for courses. Certainly isn't Aintree with that line-up. I just hope Armstrong, Vestergaard, Gabbiadini & Yoshida are incapacitated in one way or another 'cos if Hughes thinks the blokes he selected are better than them then we are in big trouble. I was optimistic for a 0-0 with a late chance of a winner, totally deflated now. Definitely not going for it today.
