This is just a load of crap, what game are you watching. Cedric is just about our best player today in a very poor bunch. -
Wolves 2 Saints 0 - Match & Meltdown Thread
Charlie Wayman replied to Shroppie's topic in The Saints
Seems to be a comedy of errors everywhere on the pitch, our passing is appalling. Why isn't Bertie getting forward for the return pass from Redmond and why has Cedric been told not to run to the bye line as he used to do. Elyonoussi has been **** poor and Austin is a lumbering oaf about 5 yards off the pace. -
Bugger me, the idiot has left Yoshida yet again. Bugger me, the idiot has left Romeu yet again.

The Pre-January Transfer Window Thread
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Let's not get carried away by agent talk who see the plight we are in. There is no money to buy players unless we sell a few first. I agree with you on that list of PTSBD players but will anybody want them and will there be enough time negotiate and conclude good deals for them before we start shopping. Then their is the inescapable fact that we have not been very good at bringing in even half decent players in January in recent seasons. As an aside will Hughes' opinions matter one jot or tittle by January? -
That is exactly the point, at this moment in time with the players we have and a journeymen manager we are very lucky to have kept him. If he plays badly from time to time it is hardly surprising with the woeful lack of quality around him. It must be depressing for a European Nations Cup winner to swallow the bitter pill of lining up alongside Stevens, Vestergaard & Hoedt and having to cover their arses because of the inevitable clangers that they drop in every match. He is better than this team so does not have the platform anymore to exploit his talent as an attacking wing-back. He'll go for sure when his contract runs out.
-
In your opinion maybe but not in mine but then again you do tend to be biased against the lad for some reason.

It has every bearing on this season's league games and simply because there are NO reserves anymore, all players are squad players and are a starting option. I doubt we'll get tanked but losing 1-0 is worth a good bet.

There is Some Logic Behind Why I'm Worried About This Season
Charlie Wayman replied to vrotherham1964's topic in The Saints
You don't need reasons to be disappointed. You are watching diabolical crap every week and the anticipated and inevitable slide of our club into oblivion. -
Blackmore especially, he never watches matches, just makes useless asides all the time and it takes all of DM's time to get commentaries back on subject. Just a sycophantic puppet who values his job more than the truth.

The last thing we want to do now Adam is take Old Nick seriously
-
Steve Bruce is the man for us, he's wasting his time at Villa.

...and without Gabbiadini now it seems so if we do start with two up front it's Long & Austin, think of how much anguish that is going to cause on Merseyside. My bet is also that we'll go 3 at the back with Yoshi at last getting the nod. Something like this? McCarthy Yoshida Vestergaard Hoedt Cedric Romeu Bertrand Hojberg Lemina Long Austin

That's the reason why a tonking is long overdue and right now we are playing far more poorly than under Puel or Pellegrini, both of whom knew how to defend. If Hughes doesn't start Romeu this weekend to plug up the glaringly obvious gap in our midfield in front of the central defenders then a tonking will come surely. In fact it might be a very good thing for us to get hammered 8-0 to finally stop all the bull**** from Hughes about how good we are and how unlucky we've been in recent matches. As for the Yoshi situation, I'm thinking of starting a petition to the House of Commons for an urgent debate.
-
Hughes will still be here even if we go down, which is increasingly becoming more a probability than a possibility. Nobody upstairs has the bottle to admit three humungous cock-ups of appointments in a row. Top jobs would go immediately because one of their principal tasks is to recruit the right people in key positions. Also, we have no money (apparently) to pay him off. We will be stuck with him in the Championship until his contract expires. I've already stopped listening to his glib and predictable press previews and disingenuous post match comments. If he knows we are crap then say we are crap... oh, I forgot it's his job to make sure we are not crap.

The Son et Lumière was the highlight of the evening, no doubt about that and you just knew what would follow would be a damp squid. Sadly all too predictable, a dominant first half followed by a clueless submissive second. A very familiar pattern this season. What is of greatest concern is that Hughes and his sidekick cronies just sat it out in the second half offering nothing in the way of help or guidance to the players who clearly had lost the plot and needed focusing and re-directing. What are their roles if not to encourage, lead and devise new tactics on the spot. Coaches? The role best suited to their talents in coaching appears to be to drive the bloody coach and I'm not sure they could do that without a crash somewhere along the way. ...and what's the point of breathless high speed attacking and closing down if everyone is completely knackered after 45 minutes. A game plan should allow for 94 minutes of physical exertion not 45. So fundamental even an idiot should grasp that.

The boys played really well last night, seemed to outclass the opposition with some very slick touch and run football with which Colchester could not cope. On that showing they would have beaten our first team. Our second goal was sheer brilliance, one of the goals of the season if anybody was watching.

Any streams?

If Ings reaches double figures, I'll eat my hat!
-
He was our first choice goal keeper when he got his new contract, was playing well and the Club were trying to respond to criticism of us always loosing our best players to the Big Boys by trying to tie him to the club more firmly. Still, don't let the facts spoil your rant.
-
The nasty boo boys have been on Cedric's back for ages and you'll never change their blinkered way of judging him. This season he was very late back from holiday after the WC and it is no surprise that he wasn't fully up to speed immediately but of course the nasty boys were sticking the knife in straight away. On Saturday Hughes was impressed with him and more or less said that those late back from WC duties were now catching up and we saw an outstanding performance from him with that notable defence splitting pass setting up the sitter for Ings being one of the highlights of the match. Cedric may not be perfect but who is in this imperfect team. We are very lucky to have him and when Elyounoussi settles we will have a very strong attacking right flank.
-
Don't be daft, Hoedt helped keep a clean sheet and Benteke was neutralised and didn't score. Best you don't let your prejudices blind you when watching.
-
What would be the point of bringing in players who are medically fit, would only add to Hughes already considerable team selection problems in knowing who his best XI was each Saturday. Having loads of players in the treatment room limits his options which helps him look more decisive in pressers. Long gets the call once again. "When I was playing, which mind you was a long time ago, we'd not let an excuse like having a broken leg stop us being out there on the pitch giving our all on a Saturday afternoon..."

To you maybe sunshine but not to anybody else. Weird comment.

Didn't we sell Walcott & Bale to stave off bankruptcy? Force majeur rather than through choice, same with Andrew Surman who always gets over-looked in discussions on this topic.
