What? They play wonderful football at times and deserve to be fighting for 7th. After yesterday's non-show humiliation can only see one result here.

Our priorities are a whole new team with exception of Gunn

You are so depressingly negative about everything Saints that Most people must wonder why you bother to come on here at all. We lost a game, we can't win them all. Get over it. One or two players let us down badly today when Ralph had put his trust in them, it happens. We're already safe anyway so why worry ... be Happy!

We're playing at Newcastle old cock, didn't anybody tell you before you left? Better get your skates on!

The Premier League teams’ ineptitude index 2017-18
Charlie Wayman replied to Plumstead_Saint's topic in The Saints
It's the Manchester Guardian to give the rag its full title, that's all you need to know. Utter crap! -
JWP running the line? He'd be good at that trotting up and down without interfering with play except for the times he has to stick his arm in the air to flag off-side (he's good at that too) but I never did understand what it was meant to convey to team mates. Perhaps, I've no bloody idea where this one is gong?

As Ralph said we are not looking for players on their 5th, 6th or 7th contracts we want you kids keen to learn and develop. This b bloke seems to have completely the wrong track record. Mind you if he can bring in Messi we might have to rethink our strategy.
-
It's ridiculous to think that we would buy players from the three relegated clubs especially old warhorses that have been around the block a few times. As Ralph observed on Saturday, it is nice to surprise your opponents by fielding a few new faces from time to time. That more or less implies that the players we do bring in will be new to this league and this country.
-
Cheap! Think what the poor bloke is feeling right now, still young but genuinely physically fragile it seems and quite possibly carrying a career threatening injury. He certainly isn't pulling a sickie or skiving as you seem to have implied more than once. No way anybody would do that or get away with it under this regime. Ralph cares about his players and will doing his best to help Mario through this difficult period. Time to get off the lad's back!
-
You're probably right but I swallowed it; if so but loved the Liverpool comment

Agree, totally ridiculous to even entertain such a thought as postponing football matches. It seems some people have alien leave of their senses. After all despite all the cultural and historical aspects it is no more than a man-made building and probably built by slave labour with no human rights or health & safety provisions! Nobody was killed yesterday. The only casualty is tourism and the economy. Only in a capitalist society would anybody contemplate a minute's silence for loss of lucrative income. You trill could not make this up!

I detect quite a lot of unwarranted negativity about Sims based on the caveats and faint praise afforded by most posters on this thread. Let us please give the lad a chance to show what he can do. Maybe we have another Lallana on our hands, he certainly looks pretty good to me based on what we've ha dot endure here in the last few years.

I cannot believe anybody is taking seriously a quote from Merson on matters relating to managing a top level football club. An opinion from Mark Carney might carry more weight.
-
Maybe but is he worth the £20m we have to cough up for him in June? If there is an escape clause surely we can do better for the money?

Hard game to sum up. Although we won well in the end, at times we were overrun in the midfield by a rampant Wolves attack and boy did our backline look flaky. Surprised we didn't start with Romeu as their attack is renowned for fast interchanging between the lines and aerial bombardments from the wings and we very nearly paid the price. Once Romeu was brought on the midfield was plugged and the game was ours. JWP is not a defensive midfielder and once the decision had been made to start with Sims, there really was no place for James. Otherwise, how good to see Sims gaining in confidence if not in accuracy. More experience and more composure and we would have had another couple of goals but hopefully Ralph will give him a run now and we could have quite a player on our hands. How can we not give huge shout-out for Nathan Redmond MotM by a country mile, now that he has added goals to his game he looks like a carbon copy of Sterling so come on Southgate give the lad a chance.

If there is no money to buy players as Gao has said on several occasions then we don't need a DOF or CEO, just a magician and we seem to have one in place. Rabbits out of hutches perhaps?
-
Something about big rats leaving sinking ships perhaps? Did he jump or was he pushed is the question that has not been answered. The difficulty as I see it is if Ralph K was the architect of Ralph H's appointment; recalling the Pochettino / Cortese situation. Not all change is bad, not all change is good but stability is not a word that can be attributed to the going's on at St Mary's since its opening less than twenty years ago. Thank you Ralph for all your work behind the scenes over the las few years to promote the cause of SFC. On balance you have helped more than hindered and only your reluctance to condemn REED and eject him much earlier blots your copy book. Good Luck!

Poor match. Best team won. Hey went in with his studs showing and caught the other lad on the shin. Red card all day long. When will they ever learn?

Season ticket renewals - announced 10 April
Charlie Wayman replied to whiteleySaint30's topic in The Saints
Doubt there is much of a correlation between seat prices and attendance, if the product is crap nobody will come if the product is good they'll be fighting for tickets. -
Are Saints owned by the Chinese government?

There must be plan but it doesn't seem to be working.

To be fair that pretty much describes our whole team until Ralph Hut came along
-
A lovely man, simply this! I'm sure he'll join our coaching staff one day, he's worth far more to us than the few quid a transfer would fetch for him, as a leader, as a wise old head and as an inspiration for the kids. In three years time he should be given a testimonial perhaps against the Japan National Team at SMS. What a match that could be.

Not sure about posts 37,38 which smacks a bit too much of arrogance and over confidence. It is always as well to be realistic about our own capabilities and respeto the boxct our opponents. They are a brilliant team on their day and can beat anybody which is more than can be said for us despite our recent uptick in attitude and performance level. Every team knows that we cannot defend high crosses into the box and Wolves are particularly good at that. Wolves will win this one quite easily I fear because we will regard them as NOT Liverpool so take out foot off the gas slightly and by that I mean on for wo players might not have their sharpest thinking caps on for this one and allow their concentration levels to slip - as indeed they did on Friday when everyone had a brain fade and deserted their posts for the corner that led to their breakaway goal. 1-3 Sorry for the pessimism chaps.
-
Let's hope instead that they don't catch us on one of our off days. We're not safe yet so let's hope we don't take our foot off the pedal. Not an easy match but we can beat them if we have the desire.
