  1. Depends upon what you mean exactly. Both will be in the matchday squad, no question about that.
  2. It would have to include De Bruyne, Rodri, Foden and Haaland………...
  3. Blimey, reading today's ramblings suggests a lot of people are vrey bored this morning with nothing better to do.
  4. There is a pattern developing with the loss of yet another high potential youngster under RM's tutelage. It can't always be the player's fault as many of you seem to imply.
  5. Thank goodness we don't have to choose between them, both should start over Smallbone and Aribo. If they're good enough they are old enough. Smallbone owes part of his inclusion in the starting XI to being "one of our own" an epithet that he must share now with Dibling. That advantage has gone so life will be a bit tougher for him now.
  6. Is that fair? We had a new manager, a bunch of new players and a new system for them to learn. After a hesitant start we eventually got into our stride. Had we been able to hit the ground running on day one of the season we might have walked the league.
  7. There is nothing wrong with our system of passing the ball back and forth between the goalie and defenders, it's not Martin's fault that our back four seem to be as thick as bricks, have the awareness of a sloth and the judgement of Craig Revel-Horwood. There's nothing difficult about it. Surely there must be some sort of expertise in awareness and reaction training that could be called upon.
  8. Nah!
  9. Amazing insight after 3 games 😅
  10. If only it was that simple. I imagine team selection is a group decision of the coaches not just Martin's whims and fancies.
  11. Should expect a top ten finish this season. that would be the minimum acceptable
  12. Party Pooper!
  13. Chelsea would not have sanctioned his loan if he'd been any good. I thought the same as you about him at Cardiff.
  14. My hunch is that Martin will start Fernandes & Arnold but not Dibling or Ugochukwu who will be first and second subs. Sam A-A is close to displacing AA but not just yet. We must be prepared also for the last minute departure of KWP in which case Taylor will get the nod
  15. This was fun to watch, riddled with errors but momnets of sheer brilliance from both sides as well. What an advert for football. Many players getting their first serious outing this season so rustiness was to be expected but on the whole Saints did well. Obviously these players were determined to show their best sides to RM in the hope of breaking through to the first team, some really caught the eye and some first team regulars will not be sitting comfortably this morning. Healthy competition at last all over the pitch. If we can hold on this season without relegation then our future is beginning to look much brighter.
  16. Martin could find a reason not to pick Erlin Haaland
  17. Absolutely it is the obvious thing to do which guarantees that Martin will ignore all our good advice and waste a valuable opportunity. Nothing at all to be gained from our youngsters and journeymen being humiliated 3 or 4 - Nil by Cardiff's second string. Only in Russland is that an important learning step. They will of course have been brave and have had 96% possesion and Russ will be very proud of his palyers and really. really love every one of them, what else matters?
  18. i remember stuffing the ball up my jersey to keep possession, have they tried that yet? 100% success.
  19. Surely its a bit mad to suggest resting players when the season has just started. Can't imagine any of them are up to speed and match fit yet so they all need minutes in their legs. Let's play our strongest team and use the match as practice to up the pace and accuracy of our passing game. The result is irrelevant.
  20. That's his quota sorted for the season then.
  21. To be fair, Manning has already been sidelined by RM. His fixation on Stephens is the most worrying and most baffling but it can't last much longer.
  22. Not really. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Sooner or later our Phoenix will rise again from the ashes so why not now when we have the element of surprise with our ultra-dynamic Russball.
  23. Um? They are not comparable as they played in very different positions.
  24. That's his job.
  25. Well, certainly I don't agree with that but doubt we'll see him back here in a Saints shirt again. This is called being 'eased out of the door'.
