Try to be fair when you lump these two together, Liebherr took out all the value in player sales and sold Gao a lame pup. His only crime was to let vanity take over his senses and not realise what he was getting himself into. It's not his fault he was stitched up.

Stop giving us all this "told you so" crap will you. Come up with some serious suggestions of how to get out of this mess or sod off. I for one am sick of your preaching!

What is Hasenhuttl hanging around for, his reputation is already in tatters and now that desperation has kicked in he is looking more clueless by the match. Just resign man, you tried but failed. No hiding place now the boo-boys are on to you. Sanctuary down the tunnel, don't bother to thank the fans for supporting this lad of cobblers.

Don't we always go down with Norwich?

How can Boufal ever be left on the bench. He's the only footballer we've got
-
Boufal on but Cedric off. What a stupid decision. Surely put Cedric in at RB get WP off FFS
-
Don't blame him, he actually tries hard.

Hasenhuttl is to blame. He's out of his depth. Clueless as usual.

Keeping Track of the Contracts 2024-25
Charlie Wayman replied to Over land and sea's topic in The Saints
Ralph was quite impatient with the PR who asked questions about contracts for Cedric & Hoj at the end of the season - I am only focused on staying in this league, (sic) if we do this than we can talk about contracts etc. Of course his own contract is up at the end of the season as well, just thinking out loud or a slip of the tongue. Seems he'll be heading off one way or another. -
Doubt Ricky is short of cash but surely SFC can find a role for him at SMS that would make his visits here more certain. The lad is an inspiration to all young wannabes and never stops smiling and acts like a grown up as opposed to Kelvin Davis who always behaved like a child with silly pranks. I guess Matt is doing his best to try and shoehorn Ricky in somewhere, PR or Academy.

Cedric Soares - Official: Loaned to Arsenal
Charlie Wayman replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Top bloke as his attitude has shown since he returned to the fold. Maybe he won't be offered a new contract here but where is Ralph going to find a better RB? Valery isn't the long term answer as we have seen for his rather too many inept headless chicken displays this season. Part of the fanbase has always dissed Cedric because of his salvaged inability to pick out a cross but let's face it chaps with our useless striker line-up we wouldn't know what a good cross is supposed to look like as nothing crossed into the box ever reaches the back of the net. To his eternal credit, we never heard this guy whinge, moan or sulk about not wanting to be here. Give him a two year contract who are we going to find who's any better. Hope he plays against Everton but knowing Ralph he'll stick with a failing formula. -
Seen it coming for ages. The u23's have no discernible style of play except long balls dow the channels and vainglorious chases that rarely succeed. When you consider that we now recruit supposedly the best talent we can find abroad as well as nationally and that several of our recent captures are highly thought of as future stars it does make you wonder what goes on at Marchwood when eyes and attentions are elsewhere.
-
Odd incidents change nothing as you are very well aware, it's what happens in the bigger picture and over the years JWP & Stephens has proved wanting far more than they ever turn in a half decent performance. I am not prejudice against any player, it is what I have seen at SMS over many years. I can tell you that in the part of the Itchen where I sit and suffer week after week there are always loud groans when Stephens or WP are named in the starting XI.

If some fans are happy with that so be it. Once Ward Prowse is included in the line-up we might as well pack up our kit and FO home. It is an utter disgrace that we are reduced to starting players like Stephens, Ward Prowse & Armstrong so inept of ideas are we at competing in a football match. If valiant rearguard actions that ultimately fail is what it has come down to then we deserve to be relegated. This club is fats becoming a non-entity in terms of appeal and watchability. Sad, sad day!

I'm pretty sure the problem is that Ralph came here with an idée fixe to re-create RB Leipzig at Southampton with the style of play and 4-2-2-2 formation that he developed there so successfully. The plan cam unstuck when he discovered that (i) he would be given no money to bring in the players he wants who could play his way and (ii) the players he did have at his disposal could not be adapted to fit his formation and style of play despite all the very many chops and changes he has tried out. He has ended up of course with a bugger's muddle as he seems not to have any sensible alternative way of playing with these players. If indeed he is that inflexible then it might be better all round if both sides call it quits and move on.

I hear there's a chance Hell will Freeze Over in January.
-
Man City would no doubt like to break the PL record score but they won't as our lads always seem to remember how to play football when they are in the Big Boys shop window. 4-2 to City

Self evidently match after match it is quite clear that our coaching is not fit for purpose in fact it is bordering on the inept, how can you argue otherwise. Our defensive set-up is appalling, same stupid mistakes made every week from which nobody seems to learn anything, players or coaches. In attack despite Ralph claiming that goals are not our problem we can't score as 9 goals in 10 matches attests. We are the third lowest scorers in the league and the worst goals against record. Without naming names as we don't know who does what our coaching is failing abysmally and there is only one person who takes the can for that and yes, it is Ralph Hasenhüttl.

Saints will not go down but clearly will need to get points on the board rather than rely on goal difference. The likelihood is that even Gao realises that the playing side of his club is in a mess and the need for a quality CB in January is now so acute that even he will have to find a way to fund the purchase. No way will he want to lose the money and the prestige of not being in the Premier League. Of course the 9-0 humiliation will not have gone down well with him and he must be starting to think that the Club is not in good hands withe the current board, likeable as they may be. Hands off may be about to change. He could sell up of course if he doesn't want the hassle of a filing club. A board that toes the party line without question is not his best servant, he may not like to be challenged on his remit but it would be better all round if somebody had the guts to spell it out to him, spend some money or you will lose far more than you save.

Very odd views from you. What evidence do you have to support any of your contentions about Davis or Bertrand? Probably none. Nothing like good old fashioned prejudice.

Charlie Wayman replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
Irony? Hope so. -
There is no good strategy for playing Man City these days. No matter who you are or what you try if you're not a top six club the chances are you're going to lose and lose badly. No point in trying to match them with front foot football as they are going to outplay you such is the quality of the players at their disposal. It's a conundrum for every manager and Hasenhüttl's approach was no worse or better than any other. 3-1 was not so bad bearing in mind the relatively poor quality of our players and the self inflicted catastrophe of Black Friday. The obsession with Ward Prowse is beyond comprehension, no more than an inept spectator at most games you have to wonder what the hell is going on. All he seems good at is waving his arms around and pointing to other people to mark players that he should have tackled or stopped in the first place. Blimey it must be a very low bar to get into the first team these days; can't run, can't tackle, can't head the ball can't take a decent corner.... perfect qualities for becoming a Saints fixture. Dead Ball specialist my Rrse. Not surprisingly we don't see Southgate in this part of the world much.

Professors lecture other people of course as you seem to like to do but usually they stimulate and encourage debate rather than deride it as "infantile". Maybe it's time you changed you moniker?
-
We may well go down but it is the last thing we should wish for. There is no basis at all for rebuilding a new squad, the present U23's are absolute dross and getting tanked every week and look likely candidates to be relegated as well and all the local lads out on loan have been proved wanting at this level and not many have made an impact in the Championship. In short we are in a bugger's muddle and having no money at all to spend on players exacerbated by taking the drop will just compound the issue. Go down now and we might be looking at a ten or more year gap before we could ever hope to get back again.

Bielsa an this team would be good option
